This is going to start a new era of SpongeBob, since we're getting Stephen and Sherm back on board along with a ton of new writers and artists (so excited for this) rather than Zeus, Casey, Dani, Mr. Lawrence, etc. writing almost every episode with the occasional Aaron Springer in 6-8.

AHHHH SO MUCH HYPE

The next few weeks are going to kill me. This is it. What we've been waiting almost 4 years for. The grand return of Stephen Hillenburg as a creative input. A crucial indicator of whether SpongeBob can ever be truly good again. For better or worse, the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the franchise.

Let's do this.

I predict people are still gonna be whining nostalgically no matter what happens as to why the new episodes are STILL not as good as the ones from Seasons 1-3 even with Steve back in some capacity.

I don't care what that guy has to say about the movie. He's probably just trying to find something wrong with it so he can trash it because it's not the "first movie". I'm still going to go see this and love it. Don't miss out because of 1 guy.

It's always better to keep expectations low especially due to the latest episodes. You may like SB but don't get your hopes crushed.

well at the very least, we're sure it won't be boring

I'm going to head into this movie with optimism. Not going to have big expectations but it looks like it has potential to be good and fun for the most part. Even the live-action scenes look amusing to me and at least SB and the gang are more likeable characters than the Smurfs or Chipmunks.

I too am exited for this new era of SpongeBob. Maybe SpongeBob will be the kids show equivalent to the Simpsons? Both articles even have a "Criticism of declining quality" sub-article. :D

Either way, the new movie looks great and with new (and returning) people there's high hopes for the too!

Frankly, I despise post movie SB. He's just not the same guy. Why would I hope for this to fail? Everyone is praying that this would be great including me!

Same here. I do hope this does well though I don't really come here that much for SpongeBob at all or care that much about the show right now. I should have made my comment much clearer.

I just had a long conversation with the twitter poster in the comments. Anyone who wishes to view it may do so.

What are you talking about?

So he's saying the time travel plot is pointless?
Basically. I disagree with him, though. It adds mystery to the plot rather than awareness.

I'd say I agree with you. Take out the time travel plot, and you've just got a story of the characters journeying to the surface to retrieve something, which is basically the same as the first movie

Now I'm worried too. Perhaps I'll just wait until this movie ends up on Amazon or something or just wait for more reviews to come out before I jump head first and see this. The last thing anyone wants is another Atlantis Squarepantis.

Don't be like that. You should see the movie when you were planning on seeing it instead of waiting on what others have to say.

I should tell him that. That's a great point.
