Am I the only one concerned with the lack of makreting for the movie? We have had 2 trailers and that's it really. It's 2 months away and I haven't seen a single commercial for it on Nickelodeon.

To be honest I don't know what's normal when it comes to promotion for a film like this. Is it unusual to not have TV spots 2 months away?

Are there no TV spots? I assumed there were, because I mom knew about the film and she doesn't even care about SpongeBob.

When Cartoon Network isn't on our TV, Nickelodeon is most of the time and I haven't seen or heard a single TV Spot which is odd seeing as TMNT starting getting TV Spots two months before it's release. I actually want to see advertisements similar to the first movie's but that's just me and my nostlagia. I just find it weird how Nick is barley talking about it on their channel seeing as this movie marks the end of the post movie era.

I still have hope for the publicity of the film. I was planning on posting this statement generally speaking but it seems to fit with the conversation above. I've heard seniors and juniors at my school talking about the new movie, and some who sing AJR's I'm ready in the halls, and it makes me smile to hear it.

Well maybe by the near end of January the commercials go up so dont worry :)

I also have hope that they'll promote the movie as well. As SpongeBob in the first movie said "I'm ready! Promotion! I'm ready! Promotion!"

Well, commercials in America usually are released on Monday, so there's still a chance they might show it next Monday. If not, then the next. I'm very positive that the tv spots will start rolling out in a couple weeks or so. They have to.

It just seems odd that they started airing ads 2 months prior for TMNT, but not Spongebob

From what I remember I didn't start seeing them until July. While it does seem odd, it's probably just Nick giving a lot of hype for it, as they did with the many, many toys and other products with the TMNT name this year. But then, other movies didn't air spots until a month before it's theatrical release, such as Book of Life, Penguins of Madagascar, The Boxtrolls... I could go on about past movies too from what I remember. Heck, even Paddington is coming to the United States on January 16th and they might air tv spots the next week or so because it's about a month from it's release. Sponge Out of Water will air tv spots in the next couple weeks or so, trust me. If we don't get any by January 5th, then we can worry.

Is it a bad thing if I think this idea is better than what the movie has in store for us? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ2AdNH4_So
It's a parody of a real movie called "Watchmen".

you know every comment i read on the trailers are rants about how post movie spongebob sucks it gets annoying after the 1st was flooded will brat babys...
Yeah, that's the reason why I hate those haters.

You know what this movie reminds me of? It reminds me of The Simpsons Movie. Think about it. That was also a movie that was made after the Simpsons prime yet it surprised fans by how great it was. Maybe that can happen here.

They better release one before January.

Again, they usually release tv spots around 30 days before the movie comes out. You guys are getting a little impatient on this.
Usually? Then what about TMNT?

TMNT did the same. They started around the end of June/beginning of July, just like what Guardians of The Galaxy, The Book of Life, The Box Trolls, Paddington (commercials came out yesterday because it's coming January 16th), Big Hero 6, and even Frozen released ads around a month before their theatrical release. If they don't release commercials past January 6th, then we can worry.
