ok so my review of this episode initially was pretty trashy I barely said anything but this is my favorite episode the more pets I have and the more time they.... pass away or get sick this episode just somehow gets more relatable and better just makes me sad writing this and thinking of my other pets that have just ran away... or just went missing this episode hits home in the best way I can describe it I mean the more times I hear Gary come home at night just breaks me this episode is from my favorite season and this episode was so sad and I loved it I want to go more on detail on how spongebob's grief relates and means so much to me and how I understand how he feels and know this review is pretty long so I guess there are a lot of things I have to say

Also I heard that where's Gary (the song) was supposed to be instead of Gary's song but that would have taken off the sad vibe of the episode

Here it is. The most anticipated review of mine: Have You Seen This Snail. My buddy @NOTSpongeblobmaster (who I watched this episode with on a Discord call) has been asking for this review for a while now. This one happens to be his favorite episode (understandably enough), and it's a new one of my favorites too. I love this one.

The episode starts with SpongeBob getting his new Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy paddle ball set, and taking the Dirty Bubble challenge. I can relate to this part in a way, I get easily distracted too. One time I spent so long playing Let's Go Eevee I completely forgot to eat. I'd been playing Let's Go Eevee for 8 hours until I remembered I was practically starving. Man, I don't think I've ever been that hungry... at least I beat the game. I even got a shiny Oddish! But that's off topic. Like Pugs said, he's ADHD-coded in my opinion too, (and I have ADHD).

I've heard a lot of people calling SpongeBob out-of-character in the beginning of Have You Seen This Snail. Personally I disagree. I don't think SpongeBob has to be the perfect character in every single moment of every single episode. He was clearly distracted and showed he was sorry about it later. You gotta admit, you've probably done something like that. Sure, he was kind of a jerk and all, but he makes up for it. In fact the entire episode makes up for it.

This was a sad plot. It reminded me of when my own cat ran away when I was around 6 (back when I still lived at my Nana's house). It was a sad day for me, everyone in my family was not helping by worrying me and saying stuff like she was going to get hit by a car or run away forever or a fox was going to get her. I remember not being able to sleep and overall just being super worried. I made posters and everything! Though, I had awful spelling, half of the words were incorrectly spelled. But every time I watched this episode since then, it reminded me so much of that day. Of course, we got my cat back. Unfortunately she's not here today (R.I.P. Jasmine, you were a lovely cat). That might be part of the reason this episode was the first ever episode of SpongeBob to make me cry.

This episode was the first to make me cry. I never thought a SpongeBob episode would make me cry, I often watch this show to cheer me up after a hard day, but this episode made me cry maybe 3 times. I do not cry easily, despite Four's lies. This episode, even if it hadn't reminded me of Jasmine would probably still have made me cry. They managed to make the episode both heartbreaking and heartwarming, and all in an episode of SpongeBob! This episode is more well written then half of the shows that I've seen.

Let's talk about the song of the episode: Gary Come Home. Gary Come Home was the song that made me cry. This song is possibly the best song in the show. And yes, I am saying this song is better than Sweet Victory. No hate towards Sweet Victory, but Gary Come Home is the best SpongeBob song in my opinion. I'm actually glad they picked Gary Come Home over Where's Gary, Where's Gary was too happy for this episode, Gary Come Home was sad and fitting for this part. Where's Gary is still good of course, I'm glad it was in the credits. But Gary Come Home is my new personal favorite SpongeBob song. Who would have thought a SpongeBob song could make me cry?

I also liked the grandma character in this episode. She's the SpongeBob equivalent of an old cat lady. She was a nice character with a good plot twist. She's pretty funny and made the episode better! Do we really know what she did to those snails? What happened to them? That's what I like, it's mysterious, but you can tell something's wrong, no normal person in the SpongeBob universe just keeps a bunch of broken snail shells in a closet. I wondered, does this grandma know she's evil or is she blissfully unaware? I'm probably looking too deep into a grandma from SpongeBob, but I do like her character. I'm so glad they didn't go with another amnesia plot like they decided to do in a later episode, Whatever Happened to SpongeBob.

Patrick was also funny in this one. Patrick was a truly supportive friend throughout the episode while remaining dumb and like his usual self. He brought a few jokes to the episode so it wasn't too sad. I love episodes when Patrick is truly a good character, as he slowly gets less and less of those episodes towards seasons 6-8.

The Krusty Krab scene was pretty good as well. SpongeBob's line "This wouldn't be the first time I disappointed someone who was hungry" that also made me cry. It wasn't a super long part or anything, but that line sounded really sad. And SpongeBob's crying in this episode was not annoying and drawn out, it was actually pretty sad.

The ending was cute too. SpongeBob gets Gary back after Gary runs from the grandma. It was a heartwarming, heartbreaking, and overall adorable episode. I love this one.

I don't think I have a single bad thing to say about this episode tbh... an episode that made me cry a total of 3 times. For a rank and grade, I'd give it a
1000/10 (S Rank) for being one of my all time favorites. Hope you all are happy with the review though!
