199b. Lame and Fortune

I wonder if this scene makes The Dog's fanfic of the last SpongeBob episode canon. :hehe: (http://www.sbmania.net/forums/topic/33300-the-final-episode-of-spongebob-squarepants-should-be-like-this/)

I thought this episode was half-baked. Some good gags, some fails. Let's just list some highlights from View #1:

Good:
  • The updated theme song is absolutely wonderful. So is the above-water opening, with the CGI crane.
  • Hat-eating love!
  • Plankton's Shirt. That is also all needed to say.
  • The quick shot of the wall with the decorations at the end, with Spongebob. (Lame description, I know, but the point I'm making is that this attention to detail is a very nice touch.)
  • The ending fortune. A fine bit of Roger-Rabbity poetic justice.
  • Karen's sarcasm.
Half-Baked:
  • Plankton's reaction to the direct above, seeing as it is a little dumb for him (My opinion).
  • The end fortune cookie sham reveal. A fake formula, although already used, would also be good -- For example, it being the end fortune Plankton receives.
  • Spongebob and Mr. Krabs both trying hard to deliver the formula to Plankton is on the upper side of this, but is in this location only because it felt kind of weird to me.
Goof:
  • Cheesily-written opening Spongebob scene, with Gary acting as Plank from Ed, Edd n Eddy. Windmills Gary does not work that way. Good night. (There was a little levity, with Gary's fortune and the crate hitting Spongebob, but the scene flounders overall.)
  • Mr. Krabs stealing Squidward's money came off as harsh, just for a quick laugh. What if Squidward won a lottery?
  • Pearl's only appearance ruining a below moment. Exaggeration of bad traits is not good, folks!
  • Forcing the "My Leg" meme again. In my opinion, it's always good when it's used normally, but when it's forced, it always falters. (At least the resulting situation was funny.)
  • NITPICK (Nickpick?): The Nick logo at the bottom-right seemingly 24/7 advertising the KCSA. (Story: On a Mirror's Edge Twitch stream in 2015, every single ad played was for it for everyone, annoying the viewers vastly.)
Special:
  • "Do ah need to say it?" (-Fish with chomped posterior, "S,S&TW") Let's anyways: Krabs' death imagine spot. It was actually striking to see the writers go this far (Even if it is spoiled by gags, for the third time half-baked).
I'm giving this a 6.75/10. Let's hope the next episodes will all be at least this good and better (Although, seeing Patrick eating food on his belly in the trailer, I can't guarantee what happened last time.)

I just finished watching it! I really liked this episode, the funeral scene was something unique that didn't really creep me out ! There was some funny moments over the episode like the ending or Plankton trying to catch the formula and getting SpongeBob with a fishing rod ! Also, the beggining kind of reminded me of ''Frankendoodle'' , also did you see Mr.Krabs little krab from ''Stanley SquarePants'' or like the pirate Redbeard??? I liked this episode, I am giving it a 9.5/10

As always, I see a lot of comments from fans, which saying that the episode was great, but I disagree. It was just good. I still think that Sold! is much better. 5.5/10

Pretty nice. I really liked Plankton's scheme here, I'm impressed how much Plankton's plans have been really smart. Once again it has nice jokes and such. My only complaint is that I didn't feel like "formula" nedded to be brought up near end because Plankton has already succeeded and I feel like near the end the plot didn't know where to go, so "formula" plot device was shoehorned into it. I give this a B+

This episode is pretty good. It's a very fun and fast paced episode. Mr. Krabs' funeral was a very funny scene. Also, the ending reminded me of Wishing You Well and F.U.N. Overall, it's a 9/10

This episode was good. The plot was decent enough, and it had some pretty funny moments all around. The ending was a rehash of the ending to Wishing you well though.

This episode was surprisingly dark with Krabs under the (faked) threat of death, and rather intense. One thing I noticed was Plankton at his usual size in the live-action ending, probably I make the gag work. And this is the first in a while to have a totally happy ending. 8/10.

Decent episode. It was solid in the humor department and was kinda fun. Amazing for seasons 6 and 7 but for 9b I think it's on the lower-end of things. It seemed kinda rushed at times and the ending was kinda half-baked. This is my first impression though. For the most part it was a really funny, interesting episode.

8/10

Perfect 10/10 flawless amazing comedy animation perfection episode!!! :D :D :D :D

I liked it but it was really similar to that TTG episode with the fortune cookies.
You're right. Both episodes were perfect and I recommend everyone watch them back to back! Great minds definitely think alike and the flawless minds of both the SpongeBob and TTG writers really show when you watch these perfect and amazing episodes!!! :)

I loved this episode. It had an interesting idea: fortune cookies that actually told the future, but I'm disappointed it just turned into another "Plankton plots to steal the formula and gets close, but fails at the end" episode. Karen was the funniest in this episode for me. Her little remarks made me laugh. I liked how there was some mature sort of jokes about not wanting to go to jury duty and Karen and Plankton's failing marriage, but some of them did feel rushed as others have said. The ending felt rushed, too. If they had more time, I'm sure it would've been a fleshed out episode.
