Rugrats and All Grown Up

I decided to make a new thread rather than unlocking the other thread.

Was there any reason why the show ended so abruptly? Apparently there was an episode shown in November 2004 and after that there was no new episodes. I don't think it was because Klasky Csupo shut down or anything, in fact I'm pretty sure they are still going. Was it because of All Grown Up?

Generally, the show's peak is probably the episodes that were produced before the hiatus with the old animation style (see: SpongeBob season 1) rather than the sort of updated style (see: SpongeBob season 2 and 3). I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with them because, well, they are Rugrats episodes and so I can't really tell if there ever was a quality change since the show was not written in the same way as SB.

I don't mind Dil or the other new characters but it just felt as though these new episodes shouldn't really have happened.

Then of course All Grown Up came along, that was pretty cool, it had a good theme tune. I think this was actually a good show and it was a great idea to see what the Rugrats would be like in their teens, although I think they sort of stayed too close to the original characters and so in hindsight it's a bit freaky that they're still the same people, and that they haven't changed much at all since they were 1 year old haha.

I know I said you could make a new one but I decided to make one myself since I had my own thoughts and questions. It was more in response to your 'Is Rugrats cancelled' thread.

it's okay as i were saying the main reason why the show was canceled becausethe staff were layoff

They were both okay, and I actually don't think the show got that much worse with Kimi. It just got a bit more uncreative and the voices sucked.

Sorry, guys. But, I don't really like All Grown Up. I think it just ruined a once great show from the 90s: Rugrats. Personally, I prefer the original over this show any day, not to mention that Rugrats was already starting to go downhill since 1998.

I really liked Rugrats. I watched it all of the time when i was younger. I remember always asking my parents what the episode name was. Then my brother learned to read and he read it. Then i learned to read and was able to read it. I remember them all. I liked all the episodes too. I liked Dill. He was very cute. I also liked Kimi when she came around. Rugrats was awesome. If you re-watch certain episodes now, you might be like "Omigod that's creepy. How did i think that was okay?" Well that's i think.

All Grown Up on the other hand, sucked. I didn't like it at all. I didn't like what they did to the characters.

Where do i begin? Chuckie became weird. He became this kid who wanted to take risks or some ::dolphin noise::. It annoyed me to the extreme.

Phil and Lil, ohmygod so annoying. Lil wanted to separate herself from Phil. I'm a twin and i'm like "No, you're a twin forever. You can't change it" She was always like "Ehhh Phil stop embarrassing me, blah blah blah". It bothered me so much.

Dill was weird. They decided to make him the weird kid, like really weird. But it didn't bother me too much though.

Angelica was fine. She was still ::dolphin noise::y which was cool.

Susie was so cool. She wanted to become a singer which i highly supported. She was perfect.

But Tommy. Ohhh Tommy annoyed me the most. He was a film maker or something. He wanted to make money all the time. He was trying to figure out ways to make money. It annoyed me so much. I was like "This isn't Tommy" The only good thing about Tommy was his hair. His hair rocked.

I didn't mind the grownups. But they made them seem older than they really were. They acted like they were in their 50s which they probably weren't. Maybe their 40s but not 50s. Come on guys my parents don't act like that. Geez

The most annoying thing about All Grown Up was the fact it was only 10 years later. 10 years. That means they're in middle school which if you were watching Rugrats from the beginning, you probably weren't in middle school anymore. They were having relationships too which i called bull::dolphin noise:: on. They treated them like they were in high school. It annoyed me so much. I was like "UGH Tommy doesn't need a girlfriend"

Rant over. So yeah Rugrats rocked, All Grown Up sucked.

Rugrats was a HUGE part of my early childhood. Since I was born, in 1996 to until they completely stopped showing it, I loved this show. I would always watch it with my sisters, and even my parents, who liked it too. When I was about 5 though, SpongeBob became my favorite nicktoon but I always loved Rugrats. I had like all of the VHS's with the episodes, including the Christmas one, the Chanukkah one, and the first Rugrats movie. I didn't really mind Dill or Kimmi. I liked all three of the movies, and I always played the computer games and had plush dolls of all of the babies. I never hated All Grown Up, but now that I think about it, it was kinda pointless and did not live up to its predecessor AT ALL. The show really wasn't that great, and was not even close to having the charm of the original show. I really miss Rugrats. My parents thought that it would never end, as did I. But it did, after 13 long years of diapers and happiness. I know I can watch it online or something, but I really wish Nickelodeon could still show it once in a while. It was what made Nickelodeon famous, and is rightfully considered by many people to be the best Nicktoon (or, even cartoon) of the 1990's.

Best description. Especially the bold. xP

Rugrats was a whole different awesome than AGU, althought AGU was great, too.

I think Rugrats went down the tube after Kimmy came into the picture. I didn't really mind Dil all that much but it was just horrible after they had a family.
