early was the skinnier one transit was the pale one, and full on was the one we all know and love, from squid on strike

I don’t think there was a pivotal episode that begun each stage of markerbob, it gradually evolved. Squid on Strike looks different than Pranks a Lot does, and both of the episodes are full on.

First time in season 2 (outside of Dying for Pie), where we see Spongebob's inward cheeks. This is also one of the first times we see it during normal animation too.

Look at Mr Krab's mouth is not properly layered with his shirt collar, this is the only major error I've seen in markerbob.

I can tell this frame is from a markerbob episode, just look at how the lines are drawn. All the black lines are the same thickness. It also has the markerbob color pallet.
 
Markerbob episodes do look dated, it's hard to describe, but the outlines have a weird effect where it kind of casts a shadow, I forget the name of the effect.
