231b. Ink Lemonade

Sold was hilarious enough said.

I can kinda see your stance on Lame and Fortune

I agree with Stuck on the Roof

Larry the Floor Manager was a really good episode. Larry's healing pecs are hilarious. Not much to dislike here.

Ink Lemonade, while I don't hate it as much as some people, is infuriating with the extent they portray Pat as a stalker, and Squidward like a victim. Scavenger Pants had a similar problem, but the atmosphere was light hearded, so I could let it slide. This had nothing. Give me 1 redeeming quality please.
my reasons for liking it are the same reason people dislike it

squidwards torture was the redeeming quality because it was funny.......... uhhhh

Sold! and Lame and Fortune are boring as hell, lack any substance, and barely have plots.

They have no less substance than SpongeBob episodes usually have. In fact these are the plots that were used to great success in pre-movie. The lines like "That's why my depression is award winning" and "I can learn what learn is" and Squidward pretending an electric clarinet exists are actually humorous than the garbage Ink Lemonade considers humor.

Stuck on the Roof somehow was insulting by making SpongeBob afraid of heights, specific, but its the only case of a character being out of character that I mind, SpongeBob is immature, but not hes not someone who would be afraid of heights, and also suffers what the previous two suffered from.

SpongeBob is a coward. How is this out of character when he's scarred of kiddy roller coaster?

Larry the floor manager is actually closer to being just bad, but I really don't know how to explain why I dislike it, besides it being pretty boring

IDK the ep was ok.

I recall nothing funny at all in Lame and Fortune, though there was one pretty funny part in Sold!, but I still feel like most of pre-movie and even some good amount of Post-Movie episodes have more substance than these two. I like the humor in Ink Lemonade, but it pales in comparison to the humor in pre-movie episodes.

Well, he was probably scared because he was supposed to go on a rollar coaster thats big and fast, which he ended up going on and loss his spine after doing so, in Stuck in the Roof, he never got down by actually climbing down the krusty krab. He also may be a coward, but being afraid to go down the krusty krab, which isn't that tall, pathetic.

IDK the ep was ok.

I actually should reconsider my opinion on this episode.

THIS IS THE GREATEST EPISODE OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I can’t praise everyone who worked on it enough!!! With every episode this season being better and better than the last in unimaginable ways, this one takes the cake and it blows my mind how any human is capable of making this level of quality!!! Thank you so much to everyone who worked on this for creating THE GREATEST CARTOON EVER!!!!!! This episode combines seasons 1-3 level genius with toenail scene and The Splinter level grossout and adds its own Season 11 perfection twist to it to create the greatest thing any human has ever made, ever!!!!!!

Also, huge credit to Kelley Armstrong for everything she did to make this so perfect and amazing!!! In light of all the stuff about John K., I think it needs to be pointed out that she’s one of the least appreciated people behind Ren & Stimpy, even though she was one of the major driving forces in making it amazing!!! She was a lot more responsible for creating the style of that show than people realize, she was one of the main animators for the original pilot and all her scenes look the best, so it’s great to see her get amazing work in something new. Especially since this is easily the best thing she (or anyone else) has EVER done!!!!! :D

Finally you back with your godly reviews, also, what your thought about Pat the Horse?

Alright my dudes, I've seen this episode and holy crap you guys were right, it was complete trash, Patrick was very idiotic unlikable here while Squidward torture made it unsatisfying to watch also yes, not going to lie but the wacky facial expressions were straight up hilarious while the whole plot was a train wreck I'm sorry but I'm rating this a -10/10, it's by the worst episode from season 11 also Kaz, has Thanos gotten into your head? :sbfunny:

Kaz's writing in the new era is rather hit or miss, so it's perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

Alright, jokes aside, time to post my thoughts on this episode.

It was bad. That's right. I'm finally saying this about a season 11 episode. This. Episode. Was. Bad. I don't think I've ever disliked a SpongeBob episode this much in a long time. It's such a shame too because I've loved how innovative and unique the season has been compared to other seasons. There has been a few fairly weak ones like Fun-Sized Friends and Stuck on the Roof, but this right here broke the streak. I was even interested in this episode when the title was revealed only for it to turn out that the title alone was a red flag as to what this was going to be about. It literally left me kind of despondent once it was over. Now, I probably would've given it at least a 6/10 if it was executed better, even if it did involve everyone drinking Squidward's essence, because I've tolerated such things from this show lately. But enough rambling. Let's get into the actual episode.

This episode has some positives. I honestly thought some of the facial expressions were too hilarious to not laugh at, and the casual exchange between Patrick and Squidward at the beginning was nice, and I did like some of the visuals and variations on the running gag, and that's about it, which isn't a good sign. Now on to the problems. Again, I personally don't mind the concept of Bikini Bottomites drinking ink as a beverage since it's expected. A majority of the episode lacks any sort of substance and basically boils down to Patrick scaring Squidward and making him shoot ink out of his nose, which is supposed to look cartoony and funny, but I didn't find any of it funny this time around. It just looked unsettling. My biggest gripe with this episode is Patrick. He's awful in this episode and has practically hit a new low in his list of unlikable appearances. He's definitely not Yours, Mine and Mine or The Fishbowl levels of bad here, but he's still out-of-character in this episode. The fact that he's actively going out of his way to scare Squidward and take advantage of his ability to ink was just uncomfortable to sit through. I know Patrick is dumb and doesn't know any better, but that doesn't excuse his actions here. Now, I wouldn't exactly compare him to Mr. Krabs in One Coarse Meal like some people do, but this is still easily one of his worst performances. It beats seeing him being a huge jerk, but it's worse than him being stupid and ruining everything. Also, I didn't like the ending, either. I already knew there was going to be a poor attempt at a "comedy ending" when SpongeBob and Patrick gave Squidward those cookies with spiders eggs. This is my new least favorite episode of season 11, and while it's not exactly Bottom 20 material for me, it's still a bad episode. It probably would have been better off as a short rather than 11-minutes.

My overall rating for this episode is a 3.5/10. I really hope the remainder of this season will be way better than this.
I just went back to watch bits and pieces of this horrid episode, and you know what? Disregard all the stuff I said that's in bold. This episode is even worse than I remembered. Heck, it's even worse than The Fishbowl. Yes, he may have been a jerk there, but even if it doesn't save the episode, he at least did show some remorse. But here? He shows none of it. And wow? I rated this a 3.5/10? Boy, was I too kind. It gets a 2/10 from me, now. I never thought I'd hate a season 11 episode this much. So, yep. This is my new least favorite episode of the "post-sequel" era. Hopefully moving forward we don't get another drop of poison like this in an otherwise great season.

I've seen recently opinion related to this episode, minor one, but opinion that I completely hate.
That that's SpongeBob characters can act OOC, because this show has no continuity. Besides the fact that SpongeBob HAS some continuity, this opinion is really wrong in my eyes.
Yes, SpongeBob silly cartoon about naive underwater kitchen sponge, but characters in it aren't two-dimensional, they has some depth. It's no Shakespeare, of course, but those characters ARE relatable and believable, botching them for sake of comedy is just a bad writing, really bad writing.
That's why rare heartwarming and awesome moments in this show are so impactful, because of the characters.

I decided to just read some more opinions about this episode, and under one video on YouTube found this:

Honestly,I have not been so angry for a very long time,it's one thing to hate an episode or a season,it's fine, but wish for everything bad for a men just because he has wrote a bad episode is really wrong in every way,and this is only one episode, yes,he's terrible,I agree, but it does not mean that Kaz is a vile person, also,he wrote such magnificent episodes as Nasty Patty,Chocolate whits Nuts,I Had an Incident,High Sea Diving, and others.People, criticize something is always good, but lose the adequacy and respect-no,please,don’t be like that guy

I thought someone might do this at some point. Just because someone makes a bad episode doesn't mean they're a bad person. idk much about them, but people like Zeus Cervas and so on might be good people who made a few bad episodes. Doesn'r make them terrible people.

Ok, let's be serious here: Yes, this episode was bad. Sure, it's a blemish on Season 11. But to wish for someone to lose their job over it is just wrong.

Unless you are a special kind of a crappy writer like Marc Guggenhiem or Scott Buck, I can agree with this. It's just Kaz can do better than this. :/
