166b. Bubble Troubles

Anyone else notice that once Mr. Enter published his note page on this episode and why he didn't like it, we started to dislike it?

Either that or we forgot about this episode until now.

And for the record, the title card is from that scene from Pre-Hibernation Week. I don't find it that scary because it's more of a reference to that episode than a reference to death.

I'm pretty sure that's why people started to dislike this episode. If Mr. Enter didn't published his review, nobody wouldn't give a crap for this episode. I still love the episode , no matter what Mr. Enter or any of you guys said.

I Will Not Comment on Episode. But What's So Scary About Title Card. Are You Sure You're Not Talking About Title Card Of ''InSPONGEiac''

I was being overreactive on purpose. Considering how many people are actually freaked out from it. But the episodes still sucks.

It was an interesting plot really. The main problem: If Sandy is SO SMART, then why not invent a machine that allows you to breathe underwater? 8.5/10 because scenes like the Pearl one was filler.

Like a lot of episodes I've seen this season, this one also felt really average and that has nothing to do with what anyone else has said about this episode. The stuff that happens to their eyes is really really tame IMHO especially if you remember "Stuck in the Wringer" when Squidward's eyes were fried because SpongeBob squirted mustard into them and they landed into the Krabby Patty. I will continue to have my own opinions based on what I've seen and that means not always agreeing with what YouTube reviewers are saying either as much as there are some of them I really enjoy watching videos from.

It's not good reviewing to just copy and paste what someone else said and especially treating that person's opinions like they are to be accepted as automatic fact as if they are some kind of god. There's always room for disagreement too and I like how people like PIEGUYRULZ have made it clear that you don't have to always agree with him on stuff and I'm sure Mr. Enter has also said that as long as you're not being a jerk about it, you can also disagree with him on certain things if you want. I also don't have that much of a problem with someone watching something like "Pet or Pests" and then there's someone online that they happen to agree with after they've already seen the episode for themselves and made their personal judgement on whether they like it or not.

The title card isn't even scary at all. People freaking out over nothing. I already saw people on YouTube try to take a crap on "I Had an Accident" because Patrick made a funny self referential joke in that one scene that wasn't meant to be taken out of context or interpreted in a literal way. Okay, rant over. Just wanted to get that off my chest because I've seeing that more and more around here and just in general on the Internet and I feel like people are starting to get carried away and overanalyzing things that weren't a problem before.

Very good eye, sir. I almost forgot about that episode and the finding the needle in the haystack part. I like how occasionally even in later episodes there can be references and in jokes like that here and there.

It was okay, some jokes didn't work, and that oxygen tank joke was bad, but over all a funny episode, but not one of the best.

Season: 8

Episode: Bubble Troubles

This episode was decent. The plot was decent too. It was nice to see Sandy and Pearl together. There were few funny jokes. 6/10

The begining is akward and the concept is uncomfortable. I was pretty suprised when Mr Krabs didn't asked for money after giving Sandy his air.
Some funny stuff here and there, pretty OK all around.
6/10

LOL CALM DOWN PEOPLE IT'S A CARTOON, IT'S NOT REAL , SHE WASN'T REALLY SUFFOCATING -_-

Like, what the barnacles in there....''like it's so funny to see someone dying from oxygen deprivation'', that could be said only from a psycho , it's a ::dolphin noise:: cartoon why would someone say that ? It's not even real....

For me it wasn't funny but I am not criticazing someone that found it funny, since it is NOT real , like I am so irritated by comments like that -_- they try to be the ''logical'' and ''intelligent'' but they are the opposite...

Anyways, back to my review........I liked this episode, not funny episode at all though, I liked the fact Mr.Krabs wasn't cheap for Sandy, and Pearl helped also! It was good seeing many characters appear in this episode and Sandy being the main character ...The ending seemed funny to me! Also , it wasn't boring and it had some fun moments, I am giving it a 9/10 :thumb1:

I thought this was pretty decent. Admittedly those first 3 or so minutes are horrendous but the rest of the episode is pretty good with a well-paced plot and funny moments. I don't understand the hate for this one at all, yeah it's far from an amazing or great episode but saying it sucks because it makes fun of oxygen deprivation is one of the most illogical and inane arguments I've heard to hate the show.

6.5/10

I don't like this episode, but I dislike it for a different reason than most people do. I don't think the writers were trying to make fun of oxygen deprivation (Heck, Sandy going insane due to the lack of oxygen is easily the highlight and probably the only good thing about the episode), but the rest of the episode I find to be dull and the first few minutes in particular take forever and are irritating. It is a bad episode, but it's nowhere near the worst of the show and people overlook the biggest problem (The first few minutes) in favor of something that wasn't intentional.

4/10

I personally don't like this episode. From time to time, there were some funny parts like when Sandy started to go crazy; but the episode's concept is not my favorite concept. 7/10

It's alright. I do really like the concept, but I feel like the execution could have been better. I do like some parts of this episode, but overall, it's just okay.

This episode is probably the episode I hate the most because I've had to sit through this episode SO MANY TIMES. I feel really bad for Sandy almost dying.

I really thought this episode was “Bubble Buddy Returns” the entire time I was looking it up. But I mean, that episode is coming up real soon so this is justified, I think. And also, I had forgotten about this episode a lot before rewatching it, which…now that I’ve rewatched it, that’s a real shame, because this is a good one.

I kind of love that the title card is literally just from the hay in a needlestack scene from Prehibernation Week. I didn’t even need to look that up to know that. I’m not sure if it’s the exact background, but it’s pretty darn close. Anyway, I appreciate that this episode gives some focus back to the bubble-blowing hobby that SpongeBob (and at times Patrick) have. This first scene is kinda boring though (except for when Patrick shouts “monosodium glutamate” lol, that was pretty funny and it does a few things I like in this show: 1) use big words that kids don’t know for no reason, and 2) make Patrick sound smart for no reason for the purposes of a joke. Monosodium glutamate, or MSG, by the way, is a flavor enhancer used in foods. Have you heard of the umami taste? Yeah, that’s MSG.)

I also think it’s kinda funny that Patrick says MSG and then all of a sudden the two are talking about spicing up their bubble blowing with hot sauce. MSG isn’t hot sauce, but I think it’s funny that these two food related things have been put together. SpongeBob and Patrick’s idea to use hot sauce is as predictably bad (in a good way) as it sounds, and it is a source of some great reaction images that I’ve been using for years. Eventually, after shenanigans of burning their eyes with hot sauce, they end up burning Squidward with the hot sauce (the part with the bonsai was hilarious). But this is just a gag, as the real conflict of the episode is when they go to Sandy’s treedome with the hot sauce bubbles while she’s fixing her air supply. Also in this scene, something monumental happens. Okay, I want everyone and sit down and hear this—Patrick is a smug jerk…IN A FUNNY WAY. I know, I can hardly believe it myself. You know why it works? Because it’s for one joke that lasts like…15 seconds. That’s it. Future episodes, take notes right now. Honestly, there’s lots of great jokes in this part, because I loved when Patrick was like “even I knew that was dumb”. Just amazing. More of this please!

It’s also great that this is a Sandy episode, as I’m prone to say every time I see her. And for once, she’s in a real pickle, a pretty dark one considering she’s facing drowning in this episode. It’s like “Pressure” but they actually obey some kind of physics. Anyway, I like when Sandy goes bats*** (which now makes me feel like the title card reference to “Prehibernation Week” was intentional for just this reason lmao), and this episode delivers. The shenanigans of SpongeBob and Patrick trying to get Sandy some air while she’s losing it are super funny, and Carolyn Lawrence does an amazing job here, she sells Sandy losing her mind so very well.

Things only get worse for the three as they crash into the Krusty Krab, as Sandy’s suit completely runs out of air (it’s here that she would obviously d!e, but can’t have that in a kid’s show!). SpongeBob’s euphemism is great too. And this episode does actually lean into some ocean facts really nicely in a way I haven’t seen it do in a while, as the solution with Mr. Krabs actually makes sense, I think? And then when Pearl comes in, first off this entire thing is hilarious because yeah that’s a very…precarious situation to walk into, and second off the solution becomes obvious, as whales are mammals.

SpongeBob then goes up to the surface to get some air, and this entire bit reminds me of “Scaredy Pants”, because we all know what’s gonna happen when he entrusts Patrick to bring him down after he gets some air. Also the reveal that they had an oxygen tank all along was hilarious. But anyway, Patrick obviously doesn’t pull on the rope when he needs too, instead freaking out about the mystery rope on his head, thinking its a rope lol. But this ends up being the exact thing that saves the day, as the air bubble SpongeBob brings gets into the treedome. See that’s another thing I like about this episode—Patrick’s stupidity is not only entertaining, but it doesn’t even hurt anyone here, it just makes the scenes play out in a different way. After episodes upon episodes, most notably the one I just reviewed yesterday, of Patrick’s idiocy hurting people, this is a welcome change.

“Bubble Troubles” is just a hilarious episode, and one that I needed for a lot of different reasons, from Patrick, to Sandy, to other characters interacting, because it was nice to see Sandy interact with Pearl and Mr. Krabs, even if it wasn’t a true interaction because she was delirious and dying LMAO. I also think this episode is probably a hidden gem of this season, because I hardly see it talked about, but then again I don’t see many people talk about any of the good episodes of this season, so that’s unsurprising. The only thing I didn’t like here was the very beginning, and even then that lasted maybe 30 seconds before things got actually interesting, so all in all this was a really great episode.
