What Would You Like To Be on the Soundtrack?

Cha

I love SBM
Title. I'd like some indie/alternative bands like some members were talking about earlier. Nothing like Katy Perry or Macklemore, they just would feel like a sell out that wouldn't really fit. You get good bands like the Shins and etc, that's the type of vibe I'd want. Of course there would be the actual songs from the movie too that would take up a quarter or more of the space.

A mix of different styles like the first movie. I wouldn't object to a popular singer/band as long as the song was good and fitting.

If Slash's presence in the movie is for a musical number they will presumably include that.

I also think that Pharrell might be a possibility for several reasons:
  • Long time SpongeBob fan
  • Did a song for Despicable Me, so he's done a movie soundtrack before
  • Nickelodeon schmoozed him with that birthday party recently

I'm Ready by AJR would make some sense.
To be honest, I did say that song worked better as a novelty/fan track than a serious attempt at a pop song, so I can't really argue with this.
I'd be fine with Pharrell being on the soundtrack as long as the song was good and fit the movie like DadMom said.
It would make my life if They Might Be Giants did anything related to this show (or any of the shows I watch, really), and it could work. They're indie and have a unique personality with a kid-friendly style. (People also always compare them to Ween, who were on the last soundtrack, so... @_@). Besides those, as long as the songs are as good on the first movie soundtrack, it doesn't matter to me who's doing them.

As dadmom said I really think Pharrell Williams will have a song, it would be really cool if they used one the Daft Punk songs he did guest vocals in. Imagine Get Lucky or Lose yourself to Dance in the movie.
I do hope they use another Ween song but I doubt they will.

More Ween. I really enjoy them. Of course, I'd like The Smashing Pumpkins to be on the record but that'd be an odd move for them. They are alternative rock. Anyone else for this?

Also, to the member who suggested They Might Be Giants: YES. They do so many movie soundtracks that it would really fit if they got them for the SB soundtracks. :)

To be fair, Tom Kenny and Jill Taley were in one of their music videos once.

What if the movie have no soundtrack? Only ambient background sound.
The soundtrack is different from the score. The soundtrack is an album with songs from the movie and/or songs written for it or connected in some way. The score, on the other hand, is the movie's background music. This movie definitely has a score, because we know who is composing it (John Debney).
