Top 11 BEST & WORST episodes of Spongebob Season 7 (in my opinion)

#1: Sponge-Cano!
I tried. I tried so hard. I tried so very hard to find a reason that I could rank this above the previous entry, because I want to emphasize how bad being nothing is. The only way you can POSSIBLY be worse is to offend even more of my senses than the other episodes on this list. It offends my ears. It offends my eyes. It offends my common sense. Heck, for all I know it might be offending my sense of smell too. It seems like they just went the extra mile to shove in absolutely everything that makes modern Spongebob bad into one episode. The checklist, please.
1. Starting with an awful song. Armpit-farting garbage monsters, ridiculous forced rhymes, terrible singing voice.
2. Spongebob being annoying and creepy to Squidward, while Squidward is just trying to enjoy his day. This overlaps with the terrible song, and the breathing scene in the Krusty Krabs is... eugh. Sure, the stuff that happens to Squidward later is justified, but not his interactions with Spongebob.
3. Complete defiance of logic to force a plot. Step #1: Squidward is apparently... SO ANGRY from Spongebob's song, that he tightens his pipe way too hard. This is important in the climax of the episode. Step #2: The dolphin clearly intended to stop after "person", he was NOT going to say "person's house". He was not interrupted. He finished his phrase. He did not miss a syllable.
5. Let's shoehorn in a grossout-style image of Mr. Krabs with arms, why not. And oh yeah, gotta give the dolphin potentially the worst voice of the entire show, because... I don't know why you'd intentionally give a character such a grating voice, can someone figure it out for me.
6. Time to destroy another character! It's Squidward's turn. I understand him being annoyed with Spongebob. Okay. But he does not get THIS angry with random people over trivial things. It makes no sense for him to be this touchy about every single thing. And the volcano scene. "Go on Spongebob, jump in" is probably the worse line of the show. Spongebob is literally willing to sacrifice himself to save Squidward, and Squidward... wants him to. I don't believe Squidward is enough of a jerk to literally want Spongebob dead, especially not in such a nonchalant manner. Of course, in the end he gets his punishment for that line. But... then, not really. Because he speaks his feelings to Spongebob... and immediately undercuts them later. I don't know if he was being genuine or not when he voiced his feelings, but it doesn't matter, the ending rant destroys the sentiment either way.
This episode really does not get enough hate. There's no redeeming value here at all, and it's just got every single thing in place to make me hate it. Utterly worthless. The Legends of Bikini Bottom series was a colossal trainwreck. (0/10)

#1: Earworm
This was always going to be my favorite, from the moment I first saw it. It was the only episode in the entire season that I immediately wanted to rewatch right after it ended. And I can see why people would dislike it, but I really, truly, like it a lot. The plot is relatable, at its core. I get songs stuck in my head all the time, being kind of a music nerd, though not really pop-ish stuff like in this episode (Current one as of writing is this.). And really, there's not any filler here. There's a lot of gags based on one concept, yes, but if they're funny and interesting, it's not just fluff to pad out the episode, really. The lyrics of the song are great and I like how they parody Spongebob going further and further off the deep end. The progression of the whole thing is good, too. It goes from Spongebob just listening to the song a lot, to being unable to stop listening to it, to compulsively singing, to going outright insane, because of the earworm inside his head. If there are a few nitpicks, yeeeah, Spongebob's singing could probably be better, and Sandy comes into the plot out of nowhere, but her stuff in the episode is pretty good. And one thing I like here is that the characterization of everyone is more in line with their pre-movie selves, too. Spongebob is annoying but he's not trying to be, the earworm is causing it. Squidward is annoyed, but he has every right to be, and he's not overly mean, nor is he abused in any way, he even helps out at the end. Krabs isn't horribly flanderized; he wants Spongebob to just do his job, threatens no more than to send him home for the day, and just wants to keep his customers. Sandy isn't just scientist-girl, she's intelligent, sure, but she also has that dorky song that's more in line with her Texas personality. Patrick is only here for a little bit, and he rips off Spongebob's mouth in a weird way, but it's a short scene, no pain comes from it, and the episode immediately moves on from it. He's not mean or overly stupid. Even the townspeople, they have every right to be annoyed, and they're not attacking Spongebob for it, they just want to leave the Krusty Krab. Which makes sense. Yeah, I can see people hating it because "the song is annoying" but that's really the only possible flaw and in no way does that overshadow the quality of the rest of the episode for me. (9.2/10)

And that's a wrap. Now hopefully I never have to see any of the awful season 7 episodes again.
