These statements are not true

It irritates me a lot when people just post stuff like that on Wikipedia because they can.
Actually, most people trust information from Wikipedia because they think that if the article has cited references, all the information is completely legit.

Some people.

Usually, people don't go on Wikipedia for fun... If they do, it's probably for research.

(I go to Wikipedia for fun in case someone here didn't know. :xD:)

all this crap people talk about wikipedia is bull::dolphin noise::.

NOTHING on the internet is completely legit. people keep saying wikipedia is an untrusted resource because of the edit button yet they don't realize many other sites could be full of just as much crap.

So, who knows? You could post a false news article on some website and then provide a reference to it in a Wikipedia article, and the information would be considered legitimate even though it isn't.

I don't trust Wikipedia, and I take everything I see on there with a grain of salt, so to speak. As for the JEwish thing, it is possible that people ar just going off Hillenburg's last name, as 'burg' is often a Jewish suffix. But really, just because the creator is Jewish (if he is) doesn't mean that his creation will be as well. As for the Christmas episode, many people write Christmas themed music/stories because they know it will get more aire time and be more popular than Hannukah themed shows--think of Irving Berlin's "White Christmas"--it wasn't "White Hannukkah" (actually that would sound a little weird!)

Regarding the gay issue, it may be true that some people see him as an icon as such, but that is their opinion. Recently, I haven't heard much since the controversy died down a few years ago.

The Jewish one was just by some prankster.

The gay icon one? Sadly, it was likely done by someone proffesional, but still completely untrue.
