SpongeBob Music, a translation of a German SB song

Squidina

Tintenfisch
Sorry, wasn't sure where to put this.

Anyway, so as I mentioned somewhere, there's a new German SB CD called "Mein Gedudel" (named for the song "My musical doodle", I guess, LOL!). I've downloaded two songs from the album - I'm concidering buying it, but am not sure (if I only like two or three songs, then better to just buy those songs rather than the whole thing..)

One song really stuck out for me, personally, and it's also one of the few German SB songs where the lyrics are clear enough to be heard - there is, unfortunately, no actual lyrics for any German SB songs online that I can find.

So, I wrote down the lyrics as best I could for my fave song, and also translated it (notes at the end):

(I couldn't find a video on youtube of it, to share, so you'll have to do with the Amazon Sample here: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00ISY54S8/ref=dm_ws_sp_tlw_trk1 )

Tha-da-da-da-da-däus! - Gib' zu, das wäre Fett! - Von wegen 'fett'!
(Admit it, that would rock! - I'll show you 'rock'!)
Tha-da-da-da-da-däus! - Nun, komm aus dem Bett! (Eh-ha! Yooohooooo! Jawohl!)
(Now, get out of bed!)

(Und genau deswegen will ich dich nie mehr und zwar so lange ich lebe auch darüber hinaus bis in alle Zeiten und in Ewigkeit - Drei Stunden Später... - ... und in jeden Fase meines Körpers weiß ich das ich dich nie wieder sehen will! Und zwar bis hin zum Ende aller Zeiten!)
(And that's exactly why I want to never ever, and that as long as I live, and so on and so wide, until the end of all days and eternity - Three hours later... - ...and in every fibre of my body I know that I never want to see you again! And that's until the end of all times!)

La la li, (Geht's dir nicht gut?) Höre einfach nichts! (Are you feeling okay? - I can't hear anything!)
(Warüm sprichts du mit dir selbst?) (Why are you talking to yourself?"

*"Vertriebt euren Gespenster" is more literally translated as "Get rid of your ghosts/hauntings". It's a contextual thing.
**I have to guess that "Blinde Kuh" is a game... it would literally translate to "blind cow", but I'll be darned if that makes any sense. So, I'm guessing it's some game I just haven't heard of. Perhaps it's "pin the tail on the donkey"? I have no clue.
***"Wer spielt auf dem Kabel?", I'm not even sure I'm... really not sure what that's supposed to mean. My best guess is that it's about people who sit inside and play video games instead of going out and enjoying a great day outdoors.
****"Dauernchill", this is the one thing that truly screwed me up with the song - I have no freaking clue what they're actually saying. It SOUNDS like "dauerndchill", but I can't find that word anywhere - it sounds like they may be trying to say that he's sleeping deep like in a coma, buuuuut.... not being sure of the word, then I can't quite be sure of the meaning, obviously. This drives me nuts. And this is also why I haven't translated more songs, already... because in many songs, I just can't quite hear what they're saying. I even asked a German friend about another song and I part I couldn't quite hear (that is, "Thaddäus, wach' auf" ["Squidward, wake up!"] from 'Das Gelbe Album', I think), and they said they also couldn't tell what was being sung).

Wow awesome! :D Did they really say crap in German or is that a more acceptable word there?

Ohhh, you'd be surprised what they apparently can get away with in German for kids... they can say 'verdammt', which means "::dolphin noise::"; or "Mist", which is a softer version of "s**t" or "Scheiße", they don't say that in kids' shows, but "Mist" is pretty much the same thing, just slightly softer.. (I get "mist!", which can be translated to "crap!", but I don't really get "verdammt!"... they can also say "verdammte mist!" in a kid's show, which is pretty much "::dolphin noise::" or "::dolphin noise:: ::dolphin noise::".

'Müll' also means "garbage", so, that would perhaps be a more correct translation, but I tried to get the mood there. Squiddy's pretty ticked. I guess it would be better translated as "You talk like garbage", but that is just a bit too weak, and "s**t" was a little too hard, so I picked a middle there..

EDIT: I seriously don't know *what* had gotten into me last night, but I wanted to say that I'm really, *terribly* sorry for my cussing in this post. Shows you how much of a potty mouth I can be though, if I'm not watching it.
Anyway, thank you for not banning me, wonderful and tolerant Admins! But, I do deserve a warning for that, though.

Haha I've heard of "mist" before actually in an old SB German magazine I have. Never knew what it meant until now. xD
Ah, well... now you know. This word is used, for example, for "horse crap", "Pferde mist", and as said, also used as an obsenity. "So ein Mist!" is a German cuss you often hear, even in kid's shows.

Cool! I've been wanting to see a translation of one of the German songs ever since I've heard about those albums. Is this one a parody of a pre-existing song like some of the others? And do you take request? I came across this song about a year ago, and I really want to know what they're saying:

Based off of the visuals and the lyrics I attempted to translate through Google's translator, SpongeBob and Sandy are talking about Larry being a lobster and I guess SpongeBob's scared of him? x3

...Do I want to know what that opening's about? o_o

Well, first I need to inform myself... Lesse, apparently this is from "Das Gelbe Album"..

It's indeed a parody of "Culcha CandelaHamma!"

Don't know that song, but I looked it up... I am not sure if I can translate it - seriously, if you could find the lyrics anywhere, then I definitely could, but this is another song where it's hard to hear what exactly they're saying.

But, in short, it's an homage to Larry the Lobster. SB isn't afraid of him. They're just trying to get around him, but he's standing in the middle of the road and won't move no matter what, and why does he do that? He's so big and amazing, but..he needs to move out of the way... That's the basic point of the song.

I will look into it - need a bit of time with the song. Without actual written lyrics, it could be difficult - as I can't quite make out what all is being said.

Also, is it wrong that I squeed over the begining, where SB goes "Ooohoo, Sandyyyy!" and she goes "Yoohoo, SpongeBob!"? Sounds just SOOO cute! Sounded so Spandy!

One question... are any of these SpongeBob songs popular in Germany?
I don't knooooowww! As SpongeBob itself is popular here, I'm guessing the songs are too. The albums are in every store.
(I don't listen to the radio, so I have no idea if they're played on the radio; and I don't really keep up with anything otherwise where one might hear them...) German Nick seems to think it's popular, and the German SB Nick website promotes it like crazy.. I don't know a single German SB fan, sadly, but I know that the albums are always found in stores, and "Das Gelbe Album" is hard to find in the stores - sold out.

But the songs SB is parodying, are deff popular. As said, "Santiano", for example, is very popular. The group is older and does more celtic/mideval music.

I just wanted to add, that I'm working on this one for you. And that after listening to it a few more times, seems you were right about them being scared of him somehow - it's another song that's a bit hard to hear, but I am looking into it. (It's SO not my music, LOL!)

Also a note that I need to keep in mind for myself about the SB songs, sometimes on Youtube there are lyrics. I just don't get why there are no lyrics on any actual lyric sites - even German ones. For example, the song "Thaddäus Deos", there is a youtube video with lyrics. But I can't find anything about "Hummer", or most of the other songs I like from the CD's. But, as said, I'm working on that one.

Also, as for taking requests: Why not? Let me know what you'd like and I will see if I can do it. It's either a question of if I can find lyrics or if I can simply understand it from the song, hear what they're saying. But, I'm up to translating anything I can. Even non SB or non music stuff.
(For example, I can translate any Rammstein song.)

Well, "Ich will dein Freund sein" is only 3 and a half minutes (3:44, to be exact) while "Hummer" is 3:30; so I don't know how ´those're long.

I'll just post all the videos I can find right now:

Well, first, I'll just give a translation of the title:

1. "Lecker Lecker" - as "lecker" means "Yummy", it's pretty much "yummy yummy", and, yes, talking about how yummy a krabby patty is.

2. "weil ich ein Burgerbrater bin" means "'Cause I'm a fry cook"

3. "So ein schöner schwamm" means "What a beautiful sponge", but... as for what the song is actually about, I'll have to get back to you.

4. "Da kommt ein u-boot" - means, "There, a submarine is coming"

5. "Ich heb' ab" - Think you called it. This is a song I just might be able to translate - it sounds pretty clear.

6. "Mein Gedudel" - "My musical doodle". I will do my best to translate this one, if I can.. As you know, it's the same song as the one in the episode, but I will definitely try and see if I can translate it.

7. "Du kriegst den Formul nie" - "You'll never ever get the formula"

8. "Komm doch rein" - "Well, come in!"

It is really, really hard to dictate the songs - like, to write down the lyrics by hearing them. That's my main problem. And that's why I haven't translated a second song yet.

First, to the admins: Sorry for necroing an old thread, but I had heard somewhere that the original poster was allowed to, and just heard that recently, and, honestly, this and my other thread - which I've linked to below - should really be combined, since they're about the same thing.

A note, the "Hummer" song was translated here: http://www.sbmania.net/forums/topic/40185-german-sb-songs-the-yellow-album-i-can-translate/

And on that note, any song on the Yellow Album (German version, of course), I am now capable of translating, but please post in that thread... until someone might be so kind as to combine the two for me.
