scooby doo (all the versions)

It's kind of sad to see what the franchise has become in it's current state. Scooby Doo: Mystery Inc. is by far my favorite series in the franchise. The perfect mixing of dark theming, along with classic Scooby Doo charm, and different forms of humor makes one, perfect...

We go from such a brilliantly directed/written series to a cheap reboot that can only really cater to little kids. At the same time, WB seems to enjoy cranking out direct-to-video specials of Scooby Doo!, which got old by the late 2000's. I'll be honest, I liked the earlier direct-to-video Scooby Doo related films from around 2002-2006, but since then, I feel as the creativity from most of the films have been stripped into generic, unoriginal movies you'd play when babysitting some toddler. What's New Scooby Doo? and the original series are both great in my opinion, the original is a classic, and a staple of it's time, and "What's New...?" is a perfect modernization of the original.

Also, I may be the only one who actually likes Casey Kasem's later performances as Shaggy. I don't know, just the older gruffness to his voice sounded pretty neat on Shaggy, even if it didn't make him seem so young.

okay i'll post my actual thoughts

I never found scooby doo good at all, like not really in an ironic way either. It just feels very repetitive and I don't know why they have to keep these classic cartoon franchises going when most of them are just crap and no one cares to watch them. The best one is Mystery Incorporated for actually trying to do something different with the franchise but I still don't care for it.

One thing I love unironically though is this Scooby Doo direct-to-dvd movie where it's in puppet animation and it just looks hilarious to me when I saw it air on CN in 2014

The recent direct-to-video movies are really a "So-bad-it's-good" in a sort of sense. The WWE crossovers were awful, yet I found them hilarious and fun to watch in an ironic way. I feel as though "Camp Scare" was the last good Scooby Doo direct-to-video movie. Maybe the Blue Falcon crossover was decent, but for the most part, the franchise is really out of ideas (Not as bad as Tom & Jerry at the moment, but close). One thing I never found appeal in were the dumb LEGO Scooby Doo movies.

Who would seriously pay money for this? I feel as if the franchise needs to take a break for a while, until it regains enough creative control to trigger another renaissance like they did in the mid 90's, up until around the mid 2000's.

Neither. These things shouldn't exist in the first place.

I used to watch scooby doo as a kid. I saw a few of the old animated movies, live-action one with Scrappy DELETE, 13 Ghosts but as I got older, I lost interest in the whole franchise but I decided to check out Mystery Incorporated and it's literally the best one because it's mostly serialized, the monster designs looked creepy in an amazing way, the mystery was engaging and the animation was great. The only thing I hated was on and off relationship with Daphne and Fred, It didn't need to be dragged on for long and I hated how their characters were mostly one dimensional because of it (Daphne was all her having crush on Fred and Fred was all traps traps traps). Thank god Shaggy and Velma romance was dropped and they found their character. I wish that would have been same with Daphne and Fred.

Other than the romance, the show is brillant and one of my favorite shows of all-time.
