Want to become a part of the SpongeBob SquarePants fandom’s history?

I can’t hear you!

Throughout March, we’ll be accepting lists of your Top 50 favourite episodes, then compiling them into a Top 100 mega list! You’re allowed to enter your correct opinion from now until 3PM of April 1st (Pacific Time), where the results will be calculated and slowly revealed day by day.

Here’s what you do in the meantime. Write up your Top 50 list, and submit it as a post below.
Eg, Number 50: One Krabs Trash
Number 49: Opposite Day
Number 48: Mimic Madness
...
Number 1: Krusty Krab Training Video

Episodes in 50th place will get one point, and 1st place will get fifty. By April, expect the total points for certain episodes to skyrocket.

Eg, Number 100: Roller Cowards (67 points)
Number 99: Plankton! (68 points)
Number 98: The Algae’s Always Greener (71 points)
...
Number 1: Band Geeks (2,080 points)

Now for some rules for how this will work.
  1. Think long and hard about your list. We won’t accept lists that’ve been edited after their posting. Only the original will count.
  2. Any episode, short, special or TV movie that goes towards the show’s episode count are eligible, but lists with the movies and supplementary shorts on them will not be accepted. For research, check out this site’s episode guide.
  3. If episodes air throughout March and you really like them, you can put them on your list (assuming you haven’t already written it up), but note they may not rank high depending on when they air.
  4. Please keep your list formal and tidy. There’s no need to write the points next to the places or anything of the sort. If you have something to say, write it above or below your list.
  5. Most importantly, submit your list by 3PM on April 1st Pacific Time. (For reference, that’ll be 9PM on March 31st for New Yorkers.)
With all that said and done, post your list and we can determine the Best Episodes Ever!

Alright, it’s April 1st now. Voting has closed. We only got three lists in, but there’s enough episodes to make a Top 100 list, and there’s always next time. I’ll release 20 spots a day until April 5th, where I’ll have the Top 20.

Some extra little tidbits: The Top 20 is purely Pre-Movie episodes, which isn’t surprising since they’re more highly regarded within the show’s fanbase. In particular, Season 3 was by far the most represented season, with 25 episodes appearing in the Top 100, taking up quarter of the list! At least every other season was represented by at least one episode. Unsurprisingly, Band Geeks topped the list, with Krusty Krab Training Video right behind it. I don’t mind at all, they’re both stellar episodes that deserve to be part of pop culture at large. I’ll try this sort of poll again with the worst episodes in June, so stay tuned for that.
