Wish I could say this news surprises me but it really doesn't. As long as people keep paying money to see these movies, they will continue to get made, even if they seem creatively bankrupt to us.

Sadly you're right. As long as it makes money it'll get a sequel. The last two almost made 900 million dollars so someone keeps watching them.

If people keep complaining about how many sequels are getting made and occasionally go see them, I guess they have no right to complain. They're the ones spurring sequels in the first place. The creators don't care if it's good or not as long as people are spending money to see it.

They've dropped all pretense of telling a compelling story and are just giving us Scrat in Space it seems.

I think a short film about Scrat might actually work to a certain degree...just not an entire film about him.

No, sequels are being hated because they are there for money, not quality. Companies often forgot that sequels are there to continue storyline from the first movie and make it even better. Peoole want sequels because they want sequels to raise the stakes, write better stories and add what was lacking in the first movie. If you can't write even a good story for a sequel and the company try to squeeze money out of them; then it's not really people's fault.

1-3 were amazing, and created my favorite movie trilogy of all time. 4 was a let-down to the franchise. It was just ok. But this? They're ruining my favorite movies!
