The current year is 2017 for example, but how do you say it in words? I prefer two thousand seventeen because it fits better.

I am one of the minority that says it ''two thousand seventeen'' just because English isn't my main language and here in Greek we always say the ''thousand'' when a numbeer has 4 digits if that makes sense ...In Greece if you say twnty seventeen (in greek language though)n it's wrong...and it sounds weird too ...so yeah that's why I say it ''two thousand seventeen'' it kind of matches with how we say it in my language so yeah

Two Thousand AND Seventeen, I hear that people who do the other thing say Two Thousand and One or something similar for a year in the noughties (2000-2009) when they could easily say Twenty O One, to connect with Twenty Seventeen (and the others from 2010-2999)
