Fairfield Artist loses SpongeBob case

I still think the main reason why this sounds bogus is that he waited almost 8 years since the show started to go through with this. If this was brought up more than 5 years ago, it probably would have been more legitimate. Not that he would have won anyway, he just would have had a better chance.
Actually, 5 years, if I remember right he said he first heard about this show in 2002.

Actually it should be at least 6 years now, it would have been 5 years in 2007.

The all thing started in 2007 not 2008.

How would he have not heard about it before? It was so popular even before 2002.

Whenever you bring a lawsuit that involves "proving that someone copied someone elese" it is never easy and in fact, almost impossible. How can you "prove" that Hillenburg copied B. S. (note his initials!) unless there is physical evidence, such as an interview. I am glad that this case is over...for now.

I don't know, there are a lot of people in here that never heard about Tiny Toons which were very popular... Anyway, who cares when he heard about it, he's a liar.

I can't really remember how much SpongeBob merchandise were in the stores before 2002 but I'm sure there was enough of it where he should of at least seen something of SpongeBob.

Y'know, not to burst anyone's bubble or anything but apparentely Walker's planning to appeal his case. :P

I have something to say: a major reason why he lost (wasn't mentioned) is the fact that he made it in 1991, but he didn't copyright it until after SpongeBob had been created (copyrighted in 2003, SpongeBob in 1999). That makes it as we call it, "public domain", or available to anybody for use. Since he didn't copyright it, he didn't have any proof of ownership of the idea, so that held him back. For all we know, he could be lieing, and wrote down that it was created in 1991.

edit: wrong years
