Extreme Spots Clip is here!

A clip indeed exists - however, Nick is having technical issues with the clip it seems. It'll probably be back up soon.

Sadly everyone, it seems like Nick removed the clip. I'll try to write some key points from what I remembered..

* The animation seems kind of different...seems like something from Truth or Square or the movie. It was also in HD!

* Johnny Krill is a lobster (not really what I was expecting Johnny Knoxville to voice, but eh)

* The episode had a nice Pre-Hiberation Week vibe to it, with SpongeBob and Patrick trying to be "extreme".

* On Johnny's team was him, an old lady, and some other purple fish.

* Basically, the plot is, SpongeBob and Patrick want to join Johnny's extreme sports team, and they have to do crazy stunts to get in. In the end, Johnny said their stunts were too extreme for them and said they were not ready to join, but the clip ended there.

.....Why would they animate this in HD?

=O Maybe this episode is from Season 9 and they're going to be doing the whole Season like this? I really hope that's the case.

But, if this is just a Season 8 episode, then I don't understand why it's in HD. Even if it is a special, why weren't A Squarepants Family Vacation or Ghoul Fools animated in HD? Odd. Hoping for the first option.

It would be sweet if we had entire Season with animation this crisp. Reminds me of the animation from A Life in a Day, very detailed and smooth. (Go back and watch A Life in a Day to understand what I'm referring to)

For those who weren't able to see the clip - I watched it yesterday and here's what I remember from it:
Krill gets SpongeBob and Patrick to demonstrate some extreme sports. SB tries to get on a bike but his arms snap off as the bike accelerates away from him. He gets hit by the bike and ploughed through 3 sand dunes. Meanwhile, Patrick fails at sandboarding and ends up swallowing the shell he was boarding on. Krill, seeing that SB and Pat are no good at extreme sports, asks them to demonstrate something they are good at. They play jump rope (with Spongebob somehow holding both ends of the rope) but then Patrick realises he's exercising and refuses to play anymore.

My thoughts:
- As some people have said before me, the animation was really nice. Noticeably crisp and smooth.
- The clip was funny. Nice visual gags and character expressions.

Regular SpongeBob episodes in high definition widescreen? What witchcraft is this!

It's about time they moved to HD.

Thoughts:
-That clip was awesome. I heard a track we haven't heard since Clash Of Triton.
-I liked the visual gags.
-I was getting a moderate "Early Season 4" vibe from the whole thing, which is good.
-Was it just me, or did the animation not look.... Well, HD? Truth Or Square had animation noticably better than the rest of the show. Episodes like MoonCation and Life In A Day seem to have a noticable bump in animation because of the action sequences. This (coupled with some good storyboards, which can really make or break the animation quality) didn't look Truth Or Square quality. More MoonCation/Life In A Day quality. *snaps fingers* Wait, Truth Or Square had three animation directors on it. This episode (if it's a regular episode) probably only had one. Or if it's a special, two. That's why it didn't look as good.
-I do hope this isn't a one-time thing. That was annoying when Truth Or Square did that, only to switch back to regular animation the very next episode.

No matter what, though, the animation looked nice, and the episode looks good! Can't wait!

Thanks for adding the video to this thread DadMom. :P This special makes me so excited. When Patrick says that he tries SpongeBob's clothes on every night while he's asleep, it reminds me of the episode Boating School. I can feel that there might be good gags in this episode.
