In many Annoy Squidward Episdoes, he's either very jerky or arrogant. I can't tell why he gets punished because he's arrogant, but rather jerky as seen in Fools in April and Little Yellow Book. But why arrogance?

Sometimes he do. But I tell you this Ii like Little Yellow Book. Little Yellow Book > Fools in April.

Well he has been punished for arrogance (Jellyfishing comes to mind).

Sometimes there's a specific thing he does wrong which backfires and you think "Ha! Karma!" and other times bad things happen to him just because it's funny. I don't think there's anything more to it than that and I don't think it matters that there isn't always a reason.

He did in premovie days. Nowadays, when Spongebob is annoying him or someone else, he doesn't obviously deserve it, but in episodes like Little Yellow Book, he deserves it.

He gets punished for nothing sometimes

Any negative human attribute that a character is representing is funny to see them be punished for. Most people would agree that arrogance is not a desirable personality trait, so it's funny to see Squidward blow up and stuff.

It's more funny to not see Squidward always get punished for stuff because it adds nothing to his character

thank

But in Tutor Sauce, Squidward spread table salt to Mr. Krabs's eyes and Beating a costumer with spatula, he doesn't get punishment (in fact, Mr. Krabs would get lawsuit fine for his employee deed)
