Do you think spongebob is on an upward trend?

Although I haven't watched spongebob in years, I used to be a huge fan of the first 3 seasons (I could name all of those episodes), but I grew very dissatisfied with the later seasons, and stopped watching. The new movie brought back my interest in spongebob, and so I began to browse the forum, finding out that some of you think that the show has begun to improve. Yes, no?

Not necessarily.

Yeah, it has improved over Season 6 and 7 lately, but it still has stinkers (mainly episodes like Little Yellow Book, Gary's New Toy and the like). Not to mention some are the episodes just seem boring to watch and there isn't many jokes. It's better than what we had a few years ago, but it still isn't great like SpongeBob's Golden Era.

JEBUS DUBBI IS BACK HOLY :dolphin noise:

Yes, it has improved from Season 8 onwards. Season 6 and 7 are considered bad seasons by most users, and Season 5 is meh. Season 8 has sort of been like half good half bad according to most of SBM, and lots of people like Season 9. While I'm not one to agree with popular opinion, I must say Season 9 is an improvement over the past. So yes, it has improved.

How did (do?) you know me? Is this account of yours new, and you had another one back in the heyday when I was an active spongebob fanatic? Or are you just trying to make me feel welcome?

Neither. I have lurked in old threads and seen your posts. I remember seeing you in a thread about Fungus Among Us on TurboNick.

Heh, I was considering that. I vaguely remember turbo nick, and fungus among us being very bad. I saw on the SBmania website that sweet and sour squid is rated very highly, better than most of the seasons 2-3 episodes, including several of what I consider to be classics. Do you believe that this episode deserves such praise?

Eh...I will admit it is a great episode, though I don't know if it's that good. I mean I thought some people were acting like it was god in the episode discussion thread, but I digress. It's a good episode nonetheless, even if it may be overrated.

Sweet & Sour Squid isn't that good... is just everyone thinking that Squidward's clarinet playing is terrible...AS USUAL.

yes.it has improveed after the first movie.
Lol, you're a good troll.

Dubbi, Spongebob improved in season 8/9. Personally, i seperate Spongebob with "Good Spongebob" (good episodes from pre/post movie era) and "Bad Spongebob" (bad episodes from pre/post movie era).

2014 was the first year since 2004 to not have a single bad episode. The episodes in season 9 have, overall, been an improvement, but I don't quite think they're up to pre-movie quality or even really the good of S4 or S5, but I definitely think it's on its way to its former glory with the new movie and Hillenburg returning. Although only time can tell, really.

I recommend him checking out Suction Cup Symphony, Hello Bikini Bottom, Sing a Song for Patrick, and Plankton's Pet.

I know you like those episodes and all, but I just want him to get a great impression of post-movie episodes first before he watches more of the infamous ones. Nothing against your opinion but I'm afraid if he watches most of the episodes you recommend, he quits watching post-movie episodes altogether.

Anyway, I would say that the newer seasons are like a roller coaster. Tons of ups, tons of downs.

Didn't 2014 only have like It Came From Goo Lagoon here?

In my honest opinion, if you didn't like the new episodes back then you probably won't like the more recent episodes either. However, the new movie is looking like it has potential and people are optimistic for the post-second-movie episodes since Hillenburg is going to be more involved again and Sherm Cohen is back on crew.

Really? I thought Kenny the Cat was terrible.

Haha, I've seen the splinter, horrible episode.

I can't answer he original question myself - I like S6 (7 is boring to me) - but as I generally understand from others here, they find the newer seasons to be slowly getting better.

(For the original poster, just so they understand my reaction, House Fancy from season 6 is my fave episode.)
