Did the color change for Squilliam's robe ever bother you?

Maybe Squilliam's so filthy stinking rich that he has more than one color of clothes, something most fish seem to lack.
 
Well, you all just knew I'd have to reply to this, eventually. Being that we're talking about the second best thing in the show, which is Mr. Fabulous Fancyson, and only plays a second role because Squidward gets first place as my fave thing in the show.

Oh... where to begin... YES, it did bother me, that's the start here.

The reason it bugs me is that I'm not exactly sure why they changed it and I certainly don't think the second is better than the first. I like the black trim best. The only reasons I could come up with was that the colorists had forgotten, or didn't know - there is a huge gap in the seasons between Squilliam's first appearances and his later appearances. (A jump from like season three to season six.) The other thought was that maybe because it looked too much like Disney's Basil's smoking jacket from "The Great Mouse Detective", but I doubt that's the case. It's more likely the first.

I personally prefer the first, with the black trim as said; I think it looks snappier and more finished. But, I do write both of them in my stories, pointing out that he HAS two (and multiples of those, of course), the later of which he mostly only wears as a change. Mostly, I write him wearing the one with the black trim.

Now, I've read the whole thread and, as expected, most people didn't notice. Surprised to see there's someone who doesn't like Squilliam - though I was positive we had at least one member here who does NOT like him - and not surprised to see that most people didn't notice. Okay, yes, I'm a little surprised, because I've read so many threads where people are complaining about when SB is drawn just SLIGHTLY differently in an episode, yet you don't notice an obvious colour change? Some people's parents.. How could you NOT notice that??

Naw, sorry, I know that most people here care less about Squilliam and more about other parts of the show. He's a side character, afterall, and though Squidward is a loved character, that doesn't automatically mean Squilliam would be. So, I can understand that people don't pay a lot of attention to him, or notice when he's drawn differently.

Not that I'm aware of. It's always looked like an inverted version of a part of a musical grand staff.
Ah, here, check out the first vertical bar, it looks like a tilde, and tell me you can't see that as his unibrow. ;)

Makes him even that much more beautiful. I wonder if the artists did that on purpose when designing him.. it seems so utterly specific, that one could very well think it was on purpose (especially with the musical aspect of the characters and the show itself), but it may just be coincidence. The only way to make a unibrow look fabulous? I dunno.

And, yes, I'm about 100% sure you're joking with your statement, because I don't think his unibrow's changed at all. But now you're going to make me look even closer at it when watching episodes. ;)

Squilliam is just beautiful, heee! Just look at how he lids his eyes and holds that fabulous phone, whilst going "It's big, and valuble", wiggling his unibrow for no one in particular. *Gush*

well,in my opinion,he's one of the most annoying characters in spongebob (and the most annoying,if you don't count spongebob,patrick and mr. krabs in some episodes),since whenever he does something better than squidward,he has to rub it in his face. it gets really annoying.

Oh, yes, I see. Yes, he definitely does that, but when he does lose to Squidward, he's so silly and pathetic about it, which makes him adorable to me. But, yes, I can understand, and thank you for answering.

Not so much, I'm fine with the changes. After all, things shouldn't stay the same forever.
 
"House Fancy" had the wrong robe, though; that is... the one with the purple trim.

But the most Squiliam-liciousness! ;)
