35a. The Secret Box

Gets overshadowed by its partner but it's one of the best episodes in my opinion with some really good SpongeBob-Patrick dynamics. 10/10
 
Most underrated episode...I find it pretty humourous and entertaining to watch! Giving this a 9.5/10 ...
Anyone noticed that 4 days after this there was that 9/11 incident in the USA?? (irony : school starts in Greece every 11 of September...if it is Saturday or Sunday then the coming Monday..but that's irrelevant to the topic :P ) A classic episode
 
This one is kinda boring. It has a simple plot and the jokes didn't really hit but I'll still watch it when it comes on and I can say it's enjoyable to watch, just not as much as other episodes in this season.

A tad boring throughout the episode, but a little interesting. Clever jokes and smart writing. The ending though is a mystery unless you might have read a book which had the picture in it... 8/10
 
Really underrated because of its sister episode. I got really excited when this came on when I was a kid. I love the scenes where SB is trying to steal the box and he makes so much noise with each step. 9/10
 
This episode is really clever, it has many funny jokes, a great plot, and SpongeBob and Patrick are just perfect here. It's also a perfect episode.

That Christmas photo is gonna haunt my mind. This is an awesome episode I can't wait to say what I want for the next episode! GOLDEN episode 11/10.
 
I never understood the love for this one. Sure, it's kinda funny, but Patrick felt like a real jerk here

Great episode, pretty overrated though. I still appreciate it a lot though, with a clever twist at the end.
 
It's pretty good. My main problem with is it is that the first half drags on for way too long, but there's some nice humor and gags sprinkled here and there which keeps it from getting too uninteresting. This episode is pretty solid otherwise, with some nice chemistry between Spongebob and Patrick and some good tension.

Patrick is the only reason I didn't give this a 9.5. There were lots of funny jokes, decent plot, and overall good. Patrick did feel more pricky, although not enough to be called a Pat-Prick episode.

I really am considered on what the embrassing screenshot was mentioned at the end. I like this episode it has many unforgettable moments like: "The inner machinations in my mind are an enigma" and SpongeBob's secret channel.

Next up, we've got "The Secret Box", which is an alright episode. Yeah, I'm not very enthusiastic about it. Let me tell you why.

One thing I like about this episode is that it gets into the plot basically immediately, so we don't have to sit around waiting to hear about the secret box. One thing I don't like about this episode though is Patrick, specifically how he starts talking about how great his secret box is. Like is he trolling? Why does he keep hyping the box up if he's not going to show it to SpongeBob? Patrick's never trolled like this before (so far), so it really confuses me as to what exactly he's doing here, so it becomes frustrating very quickly. It's even worse once Patrick starts acting serious about SpongeBob trying to figure out his secret. Of course Patrick has a right to keep secrets, but he's a jerkwad here, plain and simple. "The Secret Box" is also rather repetitive, and not in a fun way given how I just said the whole secret thing is frustrating as all get out.

The scene at Patrick's house is probably the best part of this episode (also this episode really just has two main scenes, they're just very long...isn't that interesting?). Though it's kind of devoid of great jokes, and drags on a bit, especially as we watch SpongeBob try to sneak over to Patrick's bed to get the box. The various obstacles are kind of funny though. And it is pretty funny that SpongeBob's whispering is what ended up waking Patrick up in the end.

The ending is also entertaining enough, with Patrick revealing himself to be a huge troll who had a whole secret compartment in his box, with an embarrassing photo at SpongeBob at the Christmas party. There's been many, many guesses as to what this photo is. Personally, I think it's probably just a picture of SpongeBob horribly drunk, but that's just me.

Now, I do want to say there are a couple things I really like in this episode. I like the idea of having an episode dedicated to SpongeBob and Patrick's friendship. This episode, however, was not the best choice for that ("Patrick SmartPants" definitely did it better). But anyway, I love the little montage of SpongeBob and Patrick being best friends for life that we see a few minutes into the episode, it's both funny and emotional. I also love the the Best Friends Forever ring, as you can see in my profile banner. Also, fun fact, this episode is the basis for one of my favorite SpongeBob Lofi mixes, Best Friend.

Like I was saying, I like that this episode's premise was about SpongeBob and Patrick's friendship. However, it fell flat because it did not focus on that aspect enough, and Patrick was way too annoying here. So, considering all of this together, this episode falls right into my "Okay" tier, a bit lower than I had it previously. But it really isn't that enjoyable for me to watch, so I don't find myself rewatching it often.
