Has anyone here ever played/known about Monster Rancher?

I wondered about this since my recent post in "What was the video game you recently played?"
forum post.

Has anyone here seen the anime series?

And has anyone played the games?

I'd hate to be the only one here who has. It's hard for me to know if Monster Rancher was around or started at the sametime as Pokémon or Digimon.

The late 90s and early 00s were all about super pet simulators, so I can believe it was inspired by/competed with those.

I know Todd Phillips loved the anime. I've heard of it but never watched the show or played the game.

I remember monster rancher, but it definitely wasn't a part of my childhood lol

i also remember making some terrible joke about the one eyed character surviving off of poop and not knowing that a random kid was nearby, he got very upset because he believed me!

Yes it sounds cool, but it just doesn't sound like my type of thing. I'd do it, but even watching it, idk doesn't really click with me.

Yeah that's easy addiction, happened to me with cookie clickers, I honestly don't know what to think of that ether lol.
