There's a series of videos I've been watching recently made by a YouTube channel called Summoning Salt, and it's all about the history of WR speed runs in certain video games. Each video is about a different game, usually focusing on a certain aspect of one (like 4-2 from the original SMB). Anyway, the main topic of discussion in the video uploaded today was MK64's Choco Mountain course. In the opening bits I recognized an oddly familiar face, and in the credits I recognized a definitely familiar name. You all probably already know who I'm talking about, but spoilers, [spoiler3]it's abney[/spoiler3]. Seeing this, I was very prepared to see him have a major role in the video. And I was not disappointed.

(skip to 21:24 if you want, but I highly recommend watching the whole thing. also, there's a bit of swearing)

I mean, I'm amazed. Pulling off just one Weathertenko would be an impossible feat for me, but THREE IN A ROW must have been something excruciating to sit through. I knew Abney was really good at MK64 but holy heck, that's unbelievable! Then again, it's also unbelievable that I didn't figure out about this up until now. Nevertheless, congratulations (7 months late).

idk what weathertenko means, but I'm guessing it means those two shortcuts on the track, which is something I noticed Abney doing on his stream a few times. He fails the first one a ton of times, and he's the second best player, so I can imagine it's a very hard track to speedrun.

I thought Rainbow Road was Mario Kart 64's most infamous track
I'm pretty sure that's the SNES Mario Kart's most infamous track.

Salt makes some good videos that are pretty interesting to watch. He did another one on 150cc Mario Kart 64 stuff last year also.
