It seems to be Nickelodeon’s way of having a “Baby’s 1st Twitter follow”, where it’s clearly meant just for children. I still remember when it made a controversial tweet a couple years back, but I can’t remember what it was about.

Absolutely love SpongeBob's Twitter. It is indeed rather interesting.
(I love when they mention memes, although I may be thinking of a Facebook post of theirs/his...)

I like it, but way back when they first made it, they gave a whole bunch of characters accounts and most of them besides SpongeBob aren’t active anymore. Plankton was suspended for some reason (an obvious joke seen as a real threat, perhaps?) and Mr. Krabs is deactivated. The rest barely post at all. Still, the account is pretty good.
