Season 12 Time!
Here’s another topic that I wanted to bring up regarding storytelling and how much it makes you feel like a kid. I see the adjective “childish” as being a negative adjective, due to how it’s used when pointing out how loud, mischevious or unintelligent they are compared to adults. If a story is childish, in that the characters feel loud and unintelligent, then the problem speaks for itself.
On the flip side, I often use “childlike” as a positive adjective, due to how it makes you feel like you’re a kid, as opposed to an adult watching childrens media. A childlike experience would generally make the world feel brighter and the characters’ day seem happier, which is a virtue of SpongeBob compared to other shows. They occasionally dip into childlish storytelling, and that’s where an episode can become off-putting.
Any thoughts on this? Did I waste your time?
