Well, it's that dreaded time of the week. The time where you put all your things aside and subject yourself to McSponge's crappy reviews, compiled in an poorly ranked Top 10 selection.

Now that my self-deprecation is over, it's time to take a look at one of my favorite Seasons in the series, these are my picks for the Top 10 Worst/Best Season 3 SpongeBob Episodes (Written from March 20th-March 23rd 2017). Let's get started, with a slightly better list than my Seasons 1 & 2 lists.
_________________________________________________________________________________________

Out of all the Seasons in SpongeBob, Season 3 is one of my favorites. Although I can't decide which one is better, Season 3, or Season 9, Season 3 is still one of the greatest Seasons in the show's run. But, even if it's one of the best Seasons, there'll always be at least 1 bad episode. Today, I'm here to show you guys, my pick, for the Top 10 Worst Season 3 SpongeBob Episodes. Note: This'll be based off my opinion, and how I believe the quality of the episode is, and trust me, there will be some unpopular opinions on this list.

10. Clams
Original Airdate: 9-20-2002
Plot: Mr. Krabs wins his millionth dollar, and decides to celebrate earning it, by going clam fishing with SpongeBob, and Squidward. But what happens when a giant blue clam snatches the dollar, and steals it from Krabs? Krabs goes insane trying to get it back!
Main Characters: Mr. Krabs, Squidward, SpongeBob, Old Bluelip
Fun Fact: This is the last episode to air before the series went on hiatus due to production of the SpongeBob movie, with only a couple episodes left of the Season (And 1 in Season 2) scattered throughout the following two years.

Alright, so already some of you are likely giving me the hairy eyeball for this one. Why would I chose an episode that's considered to be a classic by many fans? Simple. I don't care for it. I've never had. This is an episode I've never really cared for, whether it's before I knew it was a Jaws parody, or after I knew it was a Jaws parody. This is a decent episode. It does have plenty of funny jokes like Krabs sucking on the giant human hand thumb, or Krabs' famous Millionth Dollar Dance, and I think the whole parody of Jaws plot really seemed to work out. So why did it end up on the list? I've never really cared for it. Krabs character is unlikable during the scenes once his dollar is stolen. Sure, it's supposed to be unlikable, but it's just not entertaining. If anything, it's just frustrating to see Krabs put the other 2 characters through this torment. Krabs' insanity is pretty much the only comedy provided in the Second half. There hardly seems to be really any other funny moments outside of him breaking down.

Really, it's an alright episode, I guess. There's not that many "Bad" episodes in this Season, so there are going to be a few episodes like this one where there's still plenty of good qualities to it, because remember, Season 3 is one of my favorite Seasons afterall. So this one just happens to be on the weaker spectrum. I'm not personally fond of it, I just plainly don't like it in certain aspects, despite its charming qualities, making it lower than better episodes in this Season that have similar aspects as this one.

9. New Student Starfish
Original Airdate: 9-20-2002
Plot: Patrick joins SpongeBob in Boating School, and the 2 end up constantly fighting/bickering.
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Patrick, Mrs. Puff
Fun Fact: This is the first Boating School episodes in the series to not feature any actual driving.

Oh boy, this one is definitely going to get me hate. But when Clams is on the list too, are you really surprised? Trust me, I honestly don't have real any problem with these early ones. They come across as Meh to me. My actual disliking for episodes start soon This episode faces a similar problem to Clams. This episode has a pretty good, and interesting plot idea, it has tons of really funny, and clever humor, a great climax, and a pretty funny ending. So why is it on the list? It's just not as good as other Season 3 episodes. Certain episodes tend to just be better than others, and this one happened to be more on the weaker side in my opinion. Patrick is just unreasonably unlikable in this episode. There's really no reason for it. I can tolerate Krabs in Clams, but Patrick gets pretty irritating in this episode. He's such a jerk to SpongeBob, and doesn't get as much punishment as SpongeBob does. Not to mention, although the 24 joke is funny, and relatable, it's certainly not as funny as many people make it. If anything, Patrick screaming 24 was funnier than SpongeBob and Patrick's recap on it. This episode is pretty well done, but in my opinion, it's pretty overrated, and the 24 joke definitely needs to be toned down with all the praise, because it's just not as funny as anyone makes it. The plot is pretty solid, and is an interesting idea, the climax is suspenseful, and actually exciting for once, in a SpongeBob episode, and the ending is pretty funny. A pretty good episode, but definitely not as good as others in the Season.

8. SpongeGuard on Duty
Original Airdate: 3-22-2002
Plot: SpongeBob is mistaken as a lifeguard by Larry the Lobster, and decides to pose as one.
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Larry the Lobster, Patrick
Fun Fact: Until this episode, Larry was nothing more than just a buff jock, but starting in this episode, Larry is known to work as a Lifeguard for Goo Lagoon.

So this one is another alright one. The plot is pretty standard, a classic misunderstanding, but it's done in a pretty charming original way. It's got a unique twist onto it that makes it original and enjoyable. I all in all really think that it's this episode's plot that really sets this episode's standards, making it this low on the list. So why is it even on the list if I like everything about its plot? The jokes. There are hardly any actual funny jokes in this episode, this episode comes off as a bland, deserted island when it comes to funny jokes. There are definitely some good gags in this episode like Patrick's eyes being shrunken from the Sun, or SpongeBob being crushed by an Icecream truck, thus giving him the Lifeguard looking makeup, officially setting in the plot, but these jokes are small. They're here, and there, and there's not really any big ones that get you laughing. Especially during the climax when SpongeBob keeps everyone out of the water. Sure it's funny, but it's not too funny. There's a lot of jokes in this episode, but they're not top notch ones. Instead, they're more B material. The jokes in this episode just aren't that memorable, nor are they as funny as jokes in other episodes. Due to this, the episode comes across as bland, with nothing really interesting going on in it, outside of of the plot. I do find this episode charming with its plot, and ending, but I just find the lack of jokes to really be this episode's failure. Especially in the climax, it should be really funny, but sometimes it comes across as frustrating to watch, other times it comes across as just plain smirk worthy. It's pretty mediocre with jokes, but it's a pretty decent episode, nonetheless.

7. The Great Snail Race
Original Airdate: 1-24-2003
Plot: SpongeBob, driven by jealousy thanks to Squidward, forces Gary to be in the local snail race. But, has SpongeBob pushed too far with Gary?
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Gary, Squidward, Snellie, Patrick, Rocky
Fun Fact: This episode features the debut of Bikini Bottom's mayor.

This episode is probably one of the most hated episodes from SpongeBob's 3rd Season. I remember hating this episode a lot, agreeing with a lot of other people's opinions, but when I rewatched this episode, I was shocked to see how good it was. Compared to so many other terrible, horrendous SpongeBob episodes, this one surprised me with how much funnier it was! Unlike most bad episodes in the series, this one has comedy, and lots of it. Patrick is so hilarious in this episode! He's the absolute highlight of this entire episode! His character really shines in this episode, and I personally think this may be one of his funniest appearances. The plot is pretty decent, I really love the plot twist that Snellie and Gary were in love, and especially the joke about Patrick's snail winning. So, why is this on the list? SpongeBob is still a pretty unlikable jerk in this episode, but thankfully SpongeBob realizes this...only it's too late. Yes, we go through on of the most grueling scenes in SpongeBob's history. Don't worry, it's not as grueling as some of the OTHER stuff we're going to cover in the future, but still, the scene where Gary goes out of control is just terrible! Gary's eyes literally inflate, and EXPLODE! His shell cracks open, leaving a freaky looking engine to show, spurting out black smoke, only to have spin out of control, ultimately crashing. This was a good metaphor of a car crash, but it was completely the opposite of what the writers likely felt it was going to be...funny. It was disturbing, and uncalled for, and I feel as though the writers could've taken a better direction at writing this episode, personally. All in all, this episode definitely has a good structure, with lots of comedic humor, but some scenes are really just painfully bad!

6. Ugh
Original Airdate: 3-5-2004
Plot: We witness the discovery of fire...under the ocean? SpongeGar, Patar, and Squog test out cooking objects on an open fire for the first time.
Main Characters: SpongeGar, Squog, Patar
Fun Fact: The Cave-Man in the Patchy segments are played by Bill Faggerbakke, the voice of Patrick.

While the Patchy segments of SpongeBob B.C are amazing, the actual cartoon is anything but. I love the atmosphere, and the whole theme of a caveman episode, but unfortunately, rather than doing a neat, cartoony idea like the Flintstones did, this episode is more realistic, and that turns out to be very boring. For starters, you can't even understand the characters. Great, no dialogue. Not only that, but it's frustrating to hear the familiar voices of SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward speaking gibberish the entire episode! It's an earsore, and gets old real fast. The whole "Cave-talk" aspect is cool at first, but you lose interest in it, after a few seconds. The plot is extremely basic, and although it's interesting, it isn't done in an interesting way. The plot doesn't successfully become entertaining until lightning finally strikes the log. And after that, it's just the 3 eating food, then fighting over the log. That's it! It's very basic, and really boring. Sure, visually, it's awesome! If there was no audio, it'd still be a great visual experience. Heck, it may be better, considering the Cave-talk is really annoying. The visual gags in this episode are really creative, and funny, but outside of that, there's no other form of comedy, since there's no actual real dialogue in this episode. The climax is pretty basic, and boring, while the ending is just extremely forced. I've said it before, although not here, and I'll say it again, this episode's title sums up this episode.

5. Doing Time
Original Airdate: 1-21-2002
Plot: Mrs. Puff goes to jail, and falls in love with it. Meanwhile, SpongeBob, and Patrick try to break her out.
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Mrs. Puff, Patrick
Fun Fact: Surfing Summer, a song a janitor the janitor listens to on his headphones is a full-length song.

You may be surprised to see this episode, but personally, I used to hate this episode. In fact, this used to be my least favorite episode of the entire Season! Why, you may ask? Let's take a look at an old review I did in May 2015, nearly 2 years ago.

Mrs. Puff just goes insane at the ending, and she ends up being put into solitary confinement, and she sees SpongeBob’s face on all the walls! Then there are constantly halluciniations, or visions, or dreams of alternate realities of Mrs. Puff, SpongeBob, Police, and cars. This episode is horrible.

Yeah. This review is lengthy, isn't it? Gotta love how I misspelled hallucinations. Anyway, this episode does have a very strong beginning, and middle. IT has a plot with a lot of potential, and it seems to succeed with no effort. It's done in a very well, and entertaining manner, and I personally enjoy these parts. The comedy in this episode is really something, because there are TONS of hilarious jokes with SpongeBob and Patrick, those 2 really crank out the jokes when it comes to them trying to break Puff out. Heck, just the idea of the 2 trying to break her out, is funny within itself! This episode really has a great plot, and a lot of great jokes, but the ending is just plain confusing! Mrs. Puff pretty much goes flat out insane, and I think it's done in a relatively poor manner. They could've done this in a funner way, rather than the more grim, realistic visions she had. Phineas and Ferb had weird out episodes where Candace went insane, and they did that perfectly well, so I personally think the writers could've made this episode's ending a whole lot better. Plus, it's just a waste. After watching the entire episode, you wonder whether or not Mrs. Puff will get out of jail, or not, and it just never gives you an answer, and kind of makes watching the episode pointless, and a waste of time. It had great potential, but the ending just smacked that away, giving off a poor ending to this episode.

4. Party Pooper Pants
Original Airdate: 2-17-2002
Plot: SpongeBob holds a party at his house, and becomes extremely strict, and focuses only on the schedule he's devised. But, will he get back into his house, after accidentally locking himself out?
Fun Fact: This is one of the lesser aired SpongeBob specials on Nickelodeon.

This episode just goes nowhere. SpongeBob gets all excited about throwing a party with a kit allowing you to do so, and then becomes an overall control freak, only to have the guests hate him, only to have him accidentally lock himself out, only to have him get arrested? What!? This episode takes one turn to another, and the concept of SpongeBob throwing a party sounds like it could be done really well, if the writers put more attention on the party. Heck, half the funny gags in this episode are of people interacting with each other in the party! I feel as if the writers missed out on a big opportunity to show off more of the characters we know, with them just hanging out, partying. SpongeBob's also extremely out of character. You'd think he'd be fine with a wild, and crazy party, especially considering the countless ones held for him in SpongeBob Meets the Strangler, but no, he acts like a total buzzkill, and is the ultimate example of a bad depiction of a control freak. He is obnoxious in this episode, and rightfully gets what he deserves, but really!? He gets arrested!? Why did the writers focus on this!? Why not focus on the actual party! It would've been much more entertaining! The episode just tends to rabbit trail away from its main subject, resulting in a sloppy mess. The episode has a good amount of funny gags, and an "Okay" plot concept, but it's just done in a manner, where I can't enjoy this episode.

3. The Bully
Original Airdate: 10-5-2001
Plot: A new student at Boating School, Flats the Flounder, threatens to kick SpongeBob's butt, and SpongeBob has to find a way to escape Flats' wrath.
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Flats, Mrs. Puff

Ah, the Bully. One of my least favorite SpongeBob episodes from the third Season. Always has been. Always will. The ending is so stupid. I've never disliked an ending as much as this one. Okay, I'm lying, I hate A Pal for Gary's ending, but this is my personal second least favorite ending to a SpongeBob episode. This ending just leaves me questioning...

"Wait, can Mrs. Puff really kick SpongeBob's butt?"

"Why would she result to such violence?"

"Wouldn't she be charged for harming a student?"

"Is it reasonable to harm a student for harming another student?"

"How come none of SpongeBob's classmates are piping up about him? Are they all totally obnoxious jerks anxious to witness some sort of violence inflicted on another student? But they were cheering when Flats was knocked out!"

So many questions, over something this stupid. This is an awful ending, I hate it, I just hate it! It's always one of those episodes that's never really looked on by anyone, except me. This one tends to frustrate me. The concept is interesting, considering it does make Boating School more like a real school, but c'mon! It's not a plot necessary in a show like SpongeBob! I wanna see originality! Something interesting involving this magical sea of a variety of unique, and different characters. Not some interestingly designed background character from Season 1 given a terrible personality. Seriously, Flats is extremely one sided, He has no reason to be the way he is. He doesn't show any other emotion besides the bland bullying emotion. The only time he does show a bit of emotion is after the truck wreck, and that's it. Really, why is he even a bully? He seems to have a pretty reasonable dad, no one dares bully him, the teacher adores him, why? Maybe it's the way he looks, because there are a few jokes made about it, but really, there's no real clear reason why this episode is even happening in the first place! It's just a pointless episode, with a lot of really funny jokes and moments, but a terrible ending.

2. The Sponge Who Could Fly
Original Airdate: 3-21-2003
Plot: SpongeBob tries to live his dream of flying with the Jellyfish. And he ends up accidentally inflating his pants with a hair dryer, thus allowing him to having Super Flying SquarePants!
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Patrick, Jellyfish
Fun Fact: This episode was intended to serve as the show's series finale.

Ugh, this episode. Scuse me, lost episode. It's better off it'd remain lost. Claimed to be a lost episode, this episode was actually originally supposed to be the series finale to the series. But, Nick screwed that up, even before they decided to renew the show for a fourth season! By airing new episodes after this one. This episode just results in being just plain bad. I think the plot is interesting, I personally believe the whole "SquarePants turned Super SquarePants" theme is an awesome idea, but the episode focuses on the hypocritical jerks known as the residents of Bikini Bottom. The Bikini Bottomites just ruin this episode! Sure, I'm fine with them laughing, and ridiculing SpongeBob, when he made his first attempts at trying to fly, it makes sense, and is a classic storyline to make the hero seem like the town fool, but once SpongeBob DOES fly, the townsfolk just become ultimate selfish snobs demanding that SpongeBob does favors for them! This ridiculous idea is done better later in Giant Squidward, and while it's decent in that episode, it's much worse in this one. This episode just misses out on an opportunity to be a special episode! A lost episode, the lost episode of SpongeBob, turns out to be one like this. Maybe it was one of the staff trying to hide it from popping up, ashamed he worked it. Really, this episode could've been really cool, and have lots of fun with the flying pants idea, but it doesn't! Instead, it focuses on SpongeBob wearing out the pants, because he's doing such dumb acts for the townsfolk! I just think that if this episode really focused on something much more interesting, even if SpongeBob was still helping them out, just in a Superhero like manner, than this episode would be great! Instead, we get this lame pile of junk. And even then, there's no humor in this episode! Some funny jokes from Old Man Jenkins, and SpongeBob's reaction to the prank caller, and that's it! Nothing else stands out in this episode! There's nothing funny about this episode. I don't this episode's comedy, it stinks! There's no real funny jokes! It focuses more on the storyline, and while I praise shows for tackling on storylines, focusing more on those, the storyline in this episode is worthless, because it's done in such a terrible way! The songs try so hard to be memorable, too, but they're not! None of the songs in this episode are good. They're really lame, and I think some of the worst songs in this show's history! They seem so generic, and forced, especially the ending song. Songs in this series are supposed to either make you laugh, teach you a lesson, or feel some sort of special emotion, and the songs in this one flop at all of these. All in all, this is a TERRIBLE special! Such an awful special!

Before we move on to our Number 1 pick, here are some honorable mentions.

One Krabs Trash

As Seen on TV

Snowball Effect

Plankton's Army

Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy IV

This Season wasn't even that bad. I like these honorable mentions!

1. Born Again Krabs
Original Airdate: 10-4-2003
Plot: After eating a moldy Krabby Patty, Mr. Krabs is set to die. But, Mr. Krabs makes a deal with the Flying Dutchman, that if he turns his life around, he doesn't have to go to Davy Jone's locker.
Main Characters: Mr. Krabs, The Flying Dutchman, SpongeBob
Fun Fact: This is the only episode the Flying Dutchman appears in, in Season 3.

Alright, let's do this. While I don't hate this episode with as much as a passion as The Sponge Who Could Fly, or The Bully, this episode is absolutely the worst episode this Season has to offer. There's nothing worth watching in this episode! The are no funny jokes this episode has to offer! Nothing! Just the gag with the ambulance, which is chuckle worthy, and the snapping Krabby Patty which is pretty funny, and that's it. That's only the start of the episode. The rest of the episode has NO COMEDY! No comedy for the rest of the episode! The writers try to put humor in it, but it's not funny! This episode is terrible with the comedy! It adds up to really dull, awkward moments. Mr. Krabs all giddy, and happy is fine, and I enjoy seeing the change in atmosphere in the Krusty Krab, but it just doesn't feel right. It's not done in a humorous way, it's not done in a SpongeBob way, it's just there. And when Krabs snaps, you lose all respect for him. He ends up selling SpongeBob to the Dutchman, and completely ditches everything he claimed he would do earlier in his previous "Dream" experience. The Dutchman then returns SpongeBob because he was too annoying, and the Dutchman couldn't think because of him.

-_-

This episode is just a complete waste of an episode. The plot is pretty dark for a SpongeBob episode, and I don't mind dark, I loved Graveyard Shift, if you recalled in my top 10 Best Season 2 episode list, but this one is just too far. I don't like this episode. I really hate it. It's just terrible. That's coming from the heart. A lame plot, no jokes for a majority of the episode's run, a dumb ending where none of the characters get what they deserve, this episode would be better off if it didn't even exist.

https://www.sbmania.net/pictures.php?img=6rtEr%2FTMwiksP6IpfZ0s4%2Bpx6PiH2oK62x2gaVtYPeY%3D

So there you have it, my picks for the Top 10 Worst Season 3 SpongeBob episodes. And, if you haven't noticed, I actually praised a lot of these episodes. I didn't get really critical until around Party Pooper Pants, and that's something, because I generally get really critical earlier on the list. As mentioned before, there are TONS of fantastic episodes in this Season, and soon enough, I'll be covering my picks for the Top 10 Best episodes from SpongeBob's Third Season.
__________________________________________________________________________________________

Out of all the SpongeBob Seasons, SpongeBob's third Season is truly one of my personal favorite seasons. And of course, that being said, there are TONS of episodes I just absolutely LOVE from this Season! So today, we're taking a look at my picks for the Top 10 Best Season 3 SpongeBob Episodes. Note: This'll be in my opinion, judging from the quality of the episode, and how I feel about the episode.

* = Episodes I saw in my early years as a SpongeBob fan. Don't worry, this is the last list to have those nostalgic episodes.

10. The Camping Episode*
Original Airdate: 4-3-2004
Plot: SpongeBob and Patrick go camping 10 feet away from their house. When Squidward ends up joining them, chaos strikes, especially once Squidward summons a Sea-bear.
Main Characters: Squidward, SpongeBob, Patrick, Sea Bear
Fun Fact: There are a total of 9 things that could lure a Sea Bear when camping underwater.

Of course this episode was going to be on the list. There was no way avoiding it, this is one of the most comically genius episodes in the entire series! The plot so ridiculous, it's absolutely hilarious! The irony of SpongeBob and Patrick camping only 10 feet from their house is absolutely brilliant, and leads to a lot of hilarious situations. The whole "Sea-bear" element is extremely creative, and a very funny addition to the episode. Just the design of the Sea Bear is enough to make you laugh hard. The plot of this episode is really clever, and allows for a lot of comedic situations to occur as a result of it. I truly love this episode. It is just FULL of comedy! There are just so many hilarious jokes in this episode! Whether it's the humor driven by the silly plot, or the additional jokes like Patrick and SpongeBob eating Marshmallows, or even better, the Camp Fire Song Song. Oh my goodness, this episode just has it all! A brilliant plot that allows for tons of hilarious jokes to follow, in suit. A new character that's absolutely hilarious. Nonstop Grade A quality humor. Exciting suspense (Will Squidward survive?). A fantastic, memorable new song. And a great ending to leave off the episode on a very well done joke. This episode just has it all! It's a top notch quality episode, and is one of the best of this season!

9. Mermaidman and Barnacle Boy V
Original Airdate: 6-1-2002
Plot: Barnacle Boy, tired of being treated like a little kid from Mermaidman, decides to abandon Mermaidman, and turn to the evil side. So, SpongeBob, Squidward, Sandy, and Patrick help Mermaidman, and form a new generation of the I.J.L.S.A
Main Characters: Barnacle Boy, Mermaidman, SpongeBob, Squidward, Patrick, Sandy
Fun Fact: This is the first Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy episode to actually center around the dynamic duo, rather than SpongeBob (And Patrick).

Well, well, well. What do we have here? The best MM&BB episode, that's what it is! MM&BB V is a classic! A classic! You know why? It has the most interesting plotline out of all the MM&BB episodes! This episode has a really creative, and interesting plotline, that'll keep you on your toes with the suspense. Barnacle Boy wanting to be a Barnacle Man is certainly a really interesting premise, that's never really been established before. Not only that, the idea of the duo splitting up is a very interesting concept, that had not yet been explored at the time. The whole "Good Guy" goes "Bad" is honestly, done very well. It doesn't have any typical cliches, and succeeds in showing off original elements that separates this episode from other cartoons that have done this type of plot before. But the REAL highlight of the plot is when the main SpongeBob gang became the IJLSA. This was a GENIUS idea to make the main characters all superheroes! It's done in an extremely well, and funny way. This added element of our favorite characters becoming superheroes, especially already existing in their universe is really interesting if you ask me. I mean, it's way more interesting than "Sponge Out of Water's" element where the characters become superheros. You know why? Because, rather than pull it out randomly, this time, the character's change actually has something to do with the episode! It has a strong relevance to the plot, in fact the plot was even setting this whole thing up! But, in the movie, it's not set up until about a few minutes before they become superheros, and that's it. I mean really, the superheros are much more memorable in this episode anyway. I think the writers did a fantastic job designing these new, original superheros. The Quickster has a really nice design, I love Captain Magma's power, and his overall theme, The Elastic Wasteband has a pretty cool power, overall, and Miss Appear has a pretty interesting design, and a pretty cool power. The whole "Superhero" turn of events really help boost my opinion in this episode's quality. It touches on stuff that have never been done in the show before, and still hasn't been done, outside of this episode. And the way the Superhero team gets defeated, oh the irony! They pretty much defeat themselves! But the plot twist of Barnacle Boy still caring about Mermaidman was a pretty touching turn of events, and really was a nice way to end the episode. This episode has a lot of comedy too, like The Chief, to the gang acting as Superheros, to the "Dark Side" of the room joke, this episode is just booming with originality, entertaining plot elements, cool designs, and funny jokes. This is definitely one of the best of the season!

8. Chocolate with Nuts
Original Airdate: 6-1-2002
Plot: SpongeBob and Patrick decide to live the fancy life, and try to earn money by becoming door-to-door Chocolate bar salesmen.
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Patrick, Tom, Almost dead old lady fish, The Con Artist
Fun Fact: This episode features the biggest role of the background character, Tom.

Huh, this episode aired on the same day as the previous episode, and is paired up with that episode. Neat, huh. And rightfully so, this is definitely one of the funniest episodes of the series! This episode is usually praised for being the best of the Season, and while I disagree, believing that there are still more episodes better than this one, I can't deny that it is one of the best of the Season. It is so hilarious! The running gags in this episode are truly some of the greatest running gags I have ever seen in the cartoon. Tom, the crazy Chocolate guy is absolutely insane, and HILARIOUS! His debut in this episode seems so random, and just out of place, but it all comes together, once he continues to show up in the episode screaming "CHOCOLATE!!!!", and in the end, he ends up saving the day by BUYING all of SpongeBob, and Patrick's chocolate. It is a HILARIOUS turn of events, indeed! This episode has such a simple plot to it, and its done in such an incredible way! The way they managed to allow this simple plot to bloom into a joke driven plot is just truly incredible. This is an example of a simple plot done right. There are just so many jokes in this episode! Every single house that the 2 stop at, there's at least 1 joke that gets me really laughing. The Con Artist is pretty funny, especially considering he puts up such a serious, and dramatic monologue, just to con the 2 into buying his Chocolate bars. The Old Ladies are one of the absolute BEST parts of the episode, being absolutely hilarious characters. Just the idea of a nearly dying corpse of a fish that's somehow still alive...I don't even know what to say to that. It's insane, wacky, and works on so many levels! There are tons of one-liners too, like SpongeBob and Patrick's entire conversation at the diner. Not to mention, this episode is probably where Patrick's at his best. He's got so many classic, and memorable, hilarious quotes from "Focusing!" to "I love you.", he's just so funny! And the plot twists at the end, like the Chocolate guy wanting to buy all of the Chocolate the entire time, to SpongeBob and Patrick using their money to go on a date with the old ladies, it adds on more special-ness to the episode. This episode is just such an amazing episode, and deserves the recognition it has.

7. The Algae's Always Greener
Original Airdate: 3-22-2002
Plot: Plankton decides to switch lives with Mr. Krabs using his invention. But, he learns that living as Krabs isn't what it's so cracked up to be.
Main Characters: Plankton, SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs, Squidward
Not that fun of a fact: This would've been the last Season premiere, had the movie been the last thing to come out of the franchise.

Ah, yes. The first episode of this glorious Season, and my, it's a glorious episode. The plot is very creative, and I think it's a very interesting concept. The idea of Plankton switching lives with Mr. Krabs is really brilliant, and definitely uses the whole "Plankton is an evil genius" trope well, using his invention creating skills as an advantage to form the plot of this episode. The plot allows a lot of pretty cool situations for Plankton to get into, and while it's fun, and entertaining to watch, especially the climax with Krabs, the highlight of the episode is the comedy! There's so many funny quotes in this episode from "But I've never review anything! Except for those foreign exercise videos my cousin sent me" to "So long, Shrimp!", that this episode is certainly one of the most memorable of the series. There's tons of other hilarious jokes as well, like Squidward's terrible Krabby Patty, to SpongeBob overreacting to "failing" the good Krusty Krab name, by accidentally giving a customer a large soda, instead of a medium, like they asked. This episode is just filled to the border with tons of hilarious moments, especially Plankton's natural reaction to them, allowing for tons of funny moments to ensue due to his decisions. Also, things get crazy when Plankton gets a taste of his own medicine, when Krabs tries to steal the formula, and it's done in a really entertaining, and climatic way. It's very entertaining witnessing the tables turn on Plankton, as Krabs finally proves to be a much bigger threat than Plankton was as a villain. And Plankton, escaping right back to reality allows for a solid ending to a solid episode. This episode is fantastic. It's got a great plot idea, a great climax, and tons of funny jokes. It's an incredible episode that I highly recommend watching.

6. Mid-Life Crustacean*
Original Airdate: 1-24-2003
Plot: Mr. Krabs, tired of feeling like an old man, decides to live the night of his life, by joining SpongeBob and Patrick enjoying a night of debauchery. But, things take a wrong turn, as SpongeBob and Patrick do a lot more uncool stuff, rather than interesting things.
Main Characters: Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob, Patrick
Fun Fact: Paul Tibbitt, a then-writer of the series, voices Mr. Krabs' Mother in this episode.

I'm not sure why anyone ever seems to really talk about this episode, when discussing Season 3 SpongeBob episodes, because quite frankly, I believe this is one of the best episodes of the entire SERIES! Its target audience seems to swerve towards older audience more than their usual demographic, but that allows for a much more unique, and entertaining episode! The plot of this episode is hilarious, because an episode focusing on a main character trying his best not to age, having a mid-life crisis, afraid of becoming an old geezer, hasn't really been done in cartoons all that much, and this episode nails it PERFECTLY! For starters, SpongeBob and Patrick are HILARIOUS in this episode! From the moment they meet up in the episode, screaming at the top of their lungs, causing Squidward to yell at them for yelling is just priceless! It gets even better from that point on, with so many hilarious jokes from the 2. From them thinking they've got "Style", thinking they're cool, and hip, only to be doing lame stuff like hanging out a Laundry Matt (The entire scene with them at The Wash is absolutely hilarious!), to picking up trash on the side of a highway is just hilarious. All the things they do are funny both visually, and the dialogue they say as a result of it (Are you feeling it now Mr. Krabs?). But that ending, oh that ending. There's never been a dirtier episode than this one in SpongeBob's show (Although Sailor Mouth might be a possible competition when it comes to which episode is the dirtier one), and this ending is here to prove it. It's absolutely shocking, and hilarious to see these innocent characters, who, up to this point in the episode kept doing lame, yet funny things, do something so much raunchier. And it's a hilarious irony that it turns out they were in Mr. Krab's MOTHER'S HOUSE, of all places! Leading to a very hilarious, and awkward ending, of Mr. Krabs in his old room, claiming to feel a lot younger. It's all in all an amazing episode, that truly delves into more mature situations, thus allowing for a perfect episode.

5. Krab Borg!*
Original Airdate: 3-29-2002
Plot: SpongeBob watches a horror movie about robots taking over the world, and the following day, he ends up fooling himself, and Squidward into thinking Mr. Krabs is a robot.
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Squidward, Mr. Krabs
Fun Fact: The man running away from the robot in the horror movie SpongeBob watches (Night of the Robot) is Dan Povenmire, a then-writer who went on to co-create Phineas & Ferb with Jeff "Swampy" Marsh.

This episode for a time was my favorite episode in the entire series. And rightfully so, this is definitely one of the greatest episodes of the series. First off, the plot line is entirely original. There are plots similar to this in other forms of entertaining media, but this one is the first of its kind. The plot is fully original, and really allows for tons of hilarious exchanges between SpongeBob, and Squidward. Really, it's these 2 that make the episode. Squidward's sarcastic, realistic, logical remarks, to SpongeBob's insane blabbering makes for some really hilarious moments, like when Squidward throws SpongeBob into the kitchen, and he pops back out of nowhere, or when SpongeBob constantly tells Mr. Krabs to come over here, then telling Krabs made up information that relate to Squidward. These two have a brilliant bond, and I think this episode's execution of the plot is even better than the plot itself! There are tons of hilarious jokes in this episode, from Krabs doing the "Robot" to a song (Which, by the way, is an awesome piece of instrumental music), to SpongeBob and Squidward reading a book "How to Torture". The way Mr. Krabs causes Squidward to indirectly believe SpongeBob is genius, and is a really strong plot point for this episode. The interrogation between Mr. Krabs, and SpongeBob/Squidward is really entertaining, and even is a great climax that leads to the episode's ending that Krabs isn't a robot, and it turns out the movie ended with everyone realizing there was never a robot. it was just their imagination. What an ending. This episode is a hilarious episode, with tons of hilarious quotes, great characters, and a really original, and genius plot.

4. Wet Painters*
Original Airdate: 5-10-2002
Plot: SpongeBob and Patrick are given an assignment to clean Mr. Krabs' living room. But, if they get 1 drop of paint on any of his precious treasures, he'll cut off SpongeBob and Patrick's butts, and hang them above his fireplace.
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs
Fun Fact: This is the second episode of the Season to show off one of Krab's "firsts", this episode showing off his first dollar, and Can You Spare a Dime? showing off his first dime.

Oh boy, what an episode. This one is fantastic. I'm not over exaggerating, or using that word, because I'm tired of using the same descriptive adjectives to describe these episodes, that statement comes straight out of the heart. There's seriously nothing wrong with this episode. It's just a perfect episode. And it's only #4! The plot of this episode is fantastic. It's got a great blend between a likable simple plot (SpongeBob and Patrick painting a room), and a complex, dark twist (Mr. Krabs threatening to chop off SpongeBob and Patrick's behinds if they get any paint on his treasure). I'm not going to lie, this plot has a great concept, but has an even greater execution. The episode's plot allows it to be suspenseful. but at the same time hilarious. That leads to tons of very entertaining moments, especially when SpongeBob is actually painting, and is trying at all costs to avoid getting paint on anything, while Patrick simply threatens to make a mess indirectly. I must say it's done very well, keeping you on your toes, hoping they won't mess up, but at the same time, laughing about their actions that lead them to almost mess up. And let me tell you, the irony that they got a micro-small drop of paint you have to look EXTREMELY close to see, on Mr. Krabs first dollar is a hilarious plot point! And even better, SpongeBob digs his own hole, by trying to rub off the paint, only causing it smear all over the dollar, making the paint clear to see. Now you know they're in trouble, but at the same time, you know there's a possibility they might get the paint off, thus leading into a hilarious montage. Following, you have a pretty suspenseful climax, with SpongeBob and Patrick trying to hide the dollar from Krabs, only to have it ultimately fail, and...

wet-painters-2.jpg

Yeah, just kidding. Instead, it turns out Krabs was messing with the 2, and the paint comes off with saliva. Why did he do this? Because he just likes to mess with the 2.

...

What a hilarious episode! Oh my gosh, this episode is just FULL of comedy! Patrick is at once again, his best. I take back what I said in the CWN review. This is when Patrick is at his funniest. He acts so carefree, leading into insane moments that almost cause the paint to make a mess. From trying to use an ax to open his can of paint, to blowing an extra, pointless, giant paint bubble, he is absolutely hilarious! Especially in that giant paint bubble scene, oh my gosh, that's one of his most underrated moments. That is severely underrated. Let's not forget how he acted in the montage, constantly getting beaten up unintentionally, and having one of his greatest moments of the series.

Patrick is perfect in this episode, he really is. And SpongeBob's reactions to some of his antics embellish the humor even more! And that plot twist that Krabs was messing with them was a HILARIOUS and really unexpected, goofy ending! And even better, Krabs gets what he deserves, when his saliva washes off all the paint, leaving for a gloppy mess getting all over his treasures. All in all, this is an amazing episode, with a great execution of a simple plot, tons of funny jokes, plenty of suspense to keep you hooked on the episode, and great characters. What an amazing episode!

3. No Weenies Allowed*
Original Airdate: 3-15-2002
Plot: SpongeBob tries to get into the Salty Spittoon, the roughest, toughest club in all the sea. But first, he has to prove he's tough to get in.
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Reg, Sandy, Nerds, Weenie Hut Jr. Waiter, Patrick
Fun Fact: The Nerds eating inside Weenie Hut Jr.'s are voiced by Paul Tibbitt and Kent Osborne, two then-writers who worked on this episode.

Oh boy, let's get into this episode! This episode has to be one of my personal favorites of the Season. It's just such a perfect episode! It has a plot that allows for tons of funny moments to occur. The idea of SpongeBob trying to get into a tough club is hilarious! Sure, you'd think the writers would focus on the experience in the club, but instead, they poke fun of how funny this situation of SpongeBob just trying to get INTO the club can be! And it really works. The interactions between SpongeBob and Reg can go from chuckle worthy, to absolutely hilarious! There are just TONS of memorable moments in this episode, from the more famous "I Stubbed my toe, and I only cried for 20 minutes" quote, to SpongeBob pretending to be a tattoo on some tough fish's arm, it just makes for so many comedic situations! All the attempts SpongeBob makes to try to get into the club has at least some top notch quality joke that'll leave you laughing for a good handful of seconds the first time you lay eyes on this episode. This episode does an amazing job with the various different attempts SpongeBob takes to get into the Salty Spittoon. And of course, we have Weenie Hut Jr's. A place where nerds, and weenies hang out. These moments where SpongeBob are among people weenier then he is, really allow for really funny moments if you think about it. SpongeBob is trying to prove he's too tough for this place, and is trying to get into a very tough club. But, he ends up failing, and each time returns to the place he's reluctant to go, claiming he has no friends there, yet Patrick is there, hanging out. This is hilarious, and really adds on a deeper, funnier element to the plot upon watching the episode. Even then, various other gags regarding Weenie Hut Jr's are hilarious like the fact that the waiter there is a robot, the fact that there are other Weenie Hut locations, and the overly exaggerated amount of themed days. All in all, it's a really funny episode, just overall. All of SpongeBob's interactions in this episode have some form of comedic charm to them, and it just leads to being an overall hilarious episode.

2. Krusty Krab Training Video*
Original Airdate: 5-10-2002
Plot: You're the new Krusty Krab employee! Here's a video to guide you through working at the Krusty Krab
Main Characters: SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs, Squidward, Patrick
Fun Fact: The narrator in this episode has actually narrated real training videos for different businesses in the past, before this episode.

You knew this was going to pop up on the list, there was no avoiding it. As much as I wanted this to be lower on the list, in order to have a more unique set of opinions, I really checked out this episode, and there's no denying that the quality of it is so strong, you just can't avoid having it this high on the list! The whole premise of a training video at the Krusty Krab is genius. It is, it truly is. It's a fast food restaurant, so it's a PERFECT concept that won't be done in any other cartoon, considering none of them focus around some sort of restaurant or shop as much as SpongeBob does. This episode has a genius premise, and I really have to give it to the writers, they did a fantastic job capturing the cheesiness, and cliches of training videos. They even went the extra mile by having a guy who actually narrated training videos in real life narrate this episode. As for the comedy, well, to sum it up, every major scene in this episode seems to have its own individual hilarious joke. There are OODLES of jokes in this episode that are absolute classics! From the P. o.o.P joke, to Mr. Krabs' saying (The Money is always right) to the "advanced" technological advancements of the restaurant, there are just so many jokes in this episode! All different types of jokes! Ones about regular SpongeBob events like Plankton failing to steal the formula, or 4th wall jokes like Patrick being freaked out by the voice of the narrator, wondering who it is. All in all, this episode has an amazing premise, and while it doesn't really seem to have a plot, it's all made up by the large amount of funny jokes. And that ending, oh, that ending. Sure, Nick ruins it nowadays by playing the credits at the bottom of the screen leading up to the ending, but back before Nick added that annoying feature, the ending was an amazing smack in the face! You all expected to hear the formula, didn't you? Heh-heh, WRONG! It's truly amazing that the writers pulled off such a hilarious ending that trolls you by cutting itself off. This is definitely one of the greatest quality episodes in the series!

Now, before we move on to Number 1, here are a few honorable mentions.

Just One Bite

Nasty Patty

Missing Identity

Squilliam Returns

Rock-a-Bye Bivalve

And, the Number 1 Best Episode from SpongeBob's Third Season is...

1. SpongeBob Meets the Strangler*
Original Airdate: 10-11-2004
Plot: SpongeBob tells on a criminal for littering, by calling the police. But, what happens when the criminal escapes, and SpongeBob is in danger of getting strangled! He resorts to hiring a bodyguard, unaware that the bodyguard is the strangler.
Main Characters: SpongeBob, The Strangler, Patrick
Fun Fact: With the exception of Mermaid Man, Barnacle Boy, Bubble Bass, and Flats the Flounder, just about every featured character on the series up to this point appears in this episode.

Oh man, this is the one. This is the one. my personal favorite episode in the entire Season. It's so fantastic, I find it to be better quality than the Krusty Krab training video! Now that's something hard to accomplish. This episode is amazing. It truly is. It's my favorite episode in the entire Season, and is one of my top favorites of the Series! This episode is incredible. It has such a funny plot! A series plot element, a criminal who is known for strangling people who tells on him, cleverly becomes his next planned victim's bodyguard, and even funnier, SpongeBob, and everyone else is completely oblivious to it, despite its obviousness! The fact that this serious character is driven mad from SpongeBob's constant stalling, and parties, that he straight up ditches SpongeBob claiming he's being chased by a maniac! Oh the hilarious irony! And he even ends up in jail at the end! This episode just incredibly funny! From the constant irony of the plot line, to other gems like Squidward having a 12% rate of showing up to work on time, or SpongeBob debating which paper towel to get (Best paper towel around, or Best Paper towel in town). These little moments are just absolutely hilarious, and even add a bit of realistic comedy into the episode as well. Trust me, there are nonsensical ones that work, as well. Especially SpongeBob jumping into the strangler's eye sockets wearing sharp cleats. Ouch! That moment is so insanely hilarious, and to this day still gets me laughing. It is a hilarious moment, especially the cleverly placed "6 Hours Later" time card! There are just so many hilarious jokes in this episode, I certainly can't count them all. For an episode that's in a pair that wraps up the Season, oh boy, it really helps end the Season on a high note! This is a perfect, excellent masterpiece, and in my opinion, it's the absolute best episode of SpongeBob's third season.

Yeah, Season 3 doesn't have that many bad episodes, which is how Clams ended up on the list.
