Hey guys, The DS Guy here, and welcome to Every SpongeBob Season 9B Episode Reviewed! My history with this part of the season is that I watched each episode from Lost in Bikini Bottom to Larry’s Gym, plus Mall Girl Pearl and Two Thumbs Down, exactly once either when or soon after they aired. After that, I took a break from the show, but I came back in early November to watch every episode that had aired that I had not seen. At that time, Mermaid Pants, a season 10 episode, was the latest to air. I started reviewing these episodes soon after the season had completely aired. As of now, I’ve seen every single 9B episode exactly seven times. Now, let’s get to the episodes!

190a
“Lost in Bikini Bottom”
Summary: SpongeBob gets lost while trying to find a shortcut to the Krusty Krab.
Airing Order: 21/49
Air Date: July 16, 2015
Fun Fact: In one shot, the Krusty Krab is shown to be right in front of SpongeBob and Squidward, but then it is shown to be a little farther.
Highlight: SpongeBob’s watch with Patrick on it.
Picture: Broken fire hydrant
Quote: “Point A, point B, straight line.” -Squidward
Review: This episode starts out rather annoyingly. SpongeBob is quite annoying to Squidward and to me. It’s funny when SpongeBob says, “Mmm, strawberry” when he eats Squidward’s diagram of point A and the straight line. I like SpongeBob’s Patrick watch. SpongeBob’s shortcut song is a little annoying. It would be better if it was a little shorter and he didn’t draw out the ending to the song so much. SpongeBob deserves getting lost because of how annoying and stupid he was. It’s funny when the people run out of the bathroom when SpongeBob comes in. SpongeBob ends up being sent home, making the journey kind of pointless. The episode starts out kind of badly, but it gets better, though not great. This episode is MEH. The adventure is somewhat interesting, but it could have been better.

190b
“Tutor Sauce”
Summary: Mr. Krabs tries to teach SpongeBob how to drive.
Airing Order: 22/49
Air Date: July 16, 2015
Fun Fact: Mr. Krabs taught Pearl how to drive.
Highlight: Video arcade game hitting the Krusty Krab
Picture: Traffic signs
Quote: “Patrick’s house!” -SpongeBob
Review: A lot of people really like this episode, but I don’t. I find it annoying how SpongeBob continues to crash into the Krusty Krab. I know it’s meant to be funny, but it’s annoying to me. The only time I find the crashing funny is when SpongeBob is playing the arcade game. There are a few other funny jokes, such as the cop being married his job and how he mentions couples counselling. It was a close one, but I decided to call this episode MEH. Mr. Krabs is generous in this episode. He gives Pearl money without any resistance and he continues to teach SpongeBob how to drive in spite of all the damage. I really don’t like the creepy close-up of SpongeBob. As annoying as the repetitive crashes are, there are enough decent jokes to keep this out of scumbob territory.

191a
“Squid Plus One”
Summary: Squidward looks for someone to go with him to a gallery opening.
Airing Order: 23/49
Air Date: September 7, 2015
Fun Fact: The mailfish’s name is Norton.
Highlight: Montage of Squidward and Larry
Picture: Jet ski
Quote: “That squeaky hollow kind of piercing howl from the very pits of Gehenna.” -Norton the Mailfish
Review: SpongeBob is kind of annoying here. He’s annoying at the beginning when he interrupts Squidward. I don’t like the way he rapidly blinks when Squidward says he needs to ask him something. Worst of all is when he breathes heavily when he sees Squidward stuck in the hole. On the bright side, I do like the montage of Squidward and Larry. It makes me wish for an episode of Squidward and Larry. I like how Squidward’s reflection being his plus one is foreshadowed by how the reflection talks at the beginning. I like how the episode ends up well for Squidward and SpongeBob. However, I think this episode falls short of being a good episode. There are some somewhat funny jokes, such as Norton running away quickly from the old woman, but I can’t think of much of a reason to come back to this episode. Although it’s close to being good, I still have to call it MEH.

191b
“The Executive Treatment”
Summary: Patrick ends up with a group of businessmen after attempting to obtain a special Krabby Patty for executives.
Airing Order: 24/49
Air Date: September 7, 2015
Fun Fact: Patrick’s prison number is 665321.
Highlight: Montage of Patrick “proving himself”
Picture: Tie and glasses
Quote: “They don’t get sandwiches. Do they?” -Patrick
Review: This is a fun episode. It has a good story and some good comedy. It’s really funny when Patrick says, “I know it’s not sandwiches. They don’t get sandwiches.” Then he smiles and says, “Do they?” That gets me every time. I like the montage of Patrick doing a bunch of “business” things, especially when he makes a copy of a pie and the copy machine prints a purple circle. Then the eel smashes it in Patrick’s face and it smashes just like a real pie would. SpongeBob makes a minor appearance in this episode. He only appears at the beginning and end. I wouldn’t call this episode amazing, but it has a good story and it’s funny, so there isn’t much more I could ask for. It's a GOOD EPISODE.

192a
“Company Picnic”
Summary: Mr. Krabs hosts a company picnic.
Airing Order: 26/49
Air Date: September 25, 2015
Fun Fact: This is the first episode in which Barnacle Boy is mentioned without Mermaid Man.
Highlight: Mr. Krabs not mentioning the name of Frisbee
Picture: Candy pen
Quote: “The ghost of mayonnaise bad!” -SpongeBob
Review: The twist ending makes absolutely no sense. There is no foreshadowing whatsoever that anything was a hologram. Mr. Krabs is cheap, which is in character, but not funny. This episode doesn’t bother me that much, so it’s gonna get a MEH. That being said, the twist is very poorly written. It is funny, however, that Mr. Krabs doesn’t mention Frisbee. It’s a nice callback to Sand Castles in the Sand.

192b
“Pull Up a Barrel”
Summary: Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob and Squidward a story of when he was in the navy.
Airing Order: 25/49
Air Date: September 18, 2015
Fun Fact: Mr. Krabs fought pirates in the navy.
Highlight: The adventure
Picture: Cotton candy key
Quote: Chafe! -Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob, Patrick
Review: This episode isn’t especially funny, but it’s a fun adventure. The only part I don’t like is at the beginning when Squidward forces the old fish to eat the fry. It’s kind of gross in my opinion. There isn’t much to say about this episode. It’s just really entertaining, and I like how Patrick, Squidward, SpongeBob, and Sandy play the roles of the captain, guard, other guard, and pirate. This is certainly a GOOD EPISODE.

193a
“Sanctuary!”
Summary: SpongeBob takes care of stray snails.
Airing Order: 28/49
Air Date: October 16, 2015
Fun Fact: Bob Barker plays Bob Barnacle.
Highlight: Donnie
Picture: Senor Poopus
Quote: “Feed them to who?” -Patrick
Review: There are some parts I like about this episode, such as Patrick saying, “Feed them to who?”, the live action face on Donnie, and Squidward looks funny being all puffed up. I like how Mr. Krabs says, “Any idiot can do it,” which Squidward later uses against him. However, this episode is kind of boring. I don’t have a problem with the visuals, but this episode isn’t very interesting to me. It’s a MEH EPISODE.

193b
“What's Eating Patrick?”
Summary: Patrick competes against the champion of a Krabby Patty eating contest.
Airing Order: 27/49
Air Date: October 2, 2015
Fun Fact: The Krusty Krab celebrates Founder’s Day.
Highlight: Reverse motion
Picture: Award belt
Quote: “I isn’t Patrick?” -Patrick
Review: In my opinion, this episode is kind of boring. I like the reverse motion at the beginning and the way Patrick and McNulty talk to each other, but not much about this episode is memorable. But since there aren’t really any bad things, it’s MEH.

194a
“Patrick! The Game”
Summary: Patrick invents a board game.
Airing Order: 29/49
Air Date: November 11, 2015
Fun Fact: Patrick’s game is similar to Monopoly.
Highlight: The design of Patrick’s board game
Picture: Patrick’s game
Quote: “Race the car.” -Squidward
Review: This episode has a good concept. Unfortunately, Patrick and Sandy are kind of unlikable. I actually don’t mind that Squidward gets bad luck. That’s something that can happen in real life. This episode is MEH. More time should have been devoted to Patrick, Sandy, SpongeBob, and Squidward playing the game. Most of the setup isn’t that interesting.

194b
“The Sewers of Bikini Bottom”
Summary: SpongeBob and Squidward go through the sewers to find Mr. Krabs’ safe that they flushed down the toilet.
Airing Order: 30/49
Air Date: November 11, 2015
Fun Fact: SpongeBob has a bucket list.
Highlight: The customers freaking out when Squidward mentioning SpongeBob being in the toilet
Picture: Sewer snake
Quote: “Sewer sewer, cha-cha-cha!” -SpongeBob
Review: This episode has an interesting concept. It isn’t that funny, but it does have some good jokes, such as when Squidward says he needs to get SpongeBob out of the toilet and the customers run away screaming. It’s funny that they use that joke again at the end. I was almost going to call this episode meh, but I think there’s enough comedy and the plot is interesting enough for me to call this a GOOD EPISODE. It’s nice to see SpongeBob and Squidward having to work together to find the safe. Also, SpongeBob references Choir Boys by singing “O sole mio”.

195a
“SpongeBob LongPants”
Summary: SpongeBob acts more mature after obtaining a pair of long pants.
Airing Order: 31/49
Air Date: February 15, 2016
Fun Fact: Not the first time SpongeBob’s personality changed because of his new pants
Highlight: Mrs. Puff’s cameo
Picture: Long pants
Quote: “My pants say yes, yes, yes, but my heart says no.” -SpongeBob
Review: I like how the plot starts very quickly. This episode reminds me of To SquarePants or Not to SquarePants. That’s not to say that this is a ripoff of that episode; this episode is quite different, but it is another episode in which SpongeBob thinks he needs to act differently because he’s wearing different pants. There are a few funny jokes, such as Patrick saying hey man, Mrs. Puff’s cameo, and “The Table” is a good satire of how people consider such effortless creations art. There’s also this little fish who asks his mother when SpongeBob walks by, “Is that my daddy?” and she answers, “I wish.” It feels like an adult joke. I don’t have a problem with it, but I don’t find it particularly funny either. As for this episode, it’s MEH. If it were funnier or had a better story, I could call it good, but it’s meh to me.

195b
“Larry's Gym”
Summary: Larry opens a gym.
Airing Order: 32/49
Air Date: February 15, 2016
Fun Fact: Larry’s biggest appearance yet
Highlight: Mr. Krabs getting steamed
Picture: Water bottle
Quote: “Always be hydrating!” -Larry
Review: This is Larry’s biggest appearance yet, even more so than SpongeGuard on Duty and A Life in a Day. I like how Larry tells the man with donuts, “Dough not bring those in here!” It’s also funny how Mr. Krabs appears out of nowhere. Larry’s tip of always be hydrated is memorable, although he should have told SpongeBob he was over-hydrating. It’s funny how SpongeBob laughs on his back. I like the designs of muscular SpongeBob and pot belly Larry. The way they get back to normal is a bit forced, but it doesn’t bother me that much. The twist of SpongeBob’s water muscles could have been done better. I like how Mr. Krabs ends up getting steamed. I wasn’t quite sure what to rate this episode, but I decided to call it GOOD. Although it is a bit strange to see SpongeBob holding his spatula at the end of the episode. But who knows, maybe he got a little bit stronger. Or maybe the writers forgot about that. But that doesn’t stop this from being a good episode.

196a
“The Fish Bowl”
Summary: Sandy observes SpongeBob and Patrick’s behavior.
Airing Order: 35/49
Air Date: May 2, 2016
Fun Fact: Sandy has never studied underwater people.
Highlight: The fish on the bus getting mad at Sandy
Picture: Buckets of sand
Quote: “I was a monster! I deserve a Z minus!” -Patrick
Review: My favorite part is Sandy observing the fish on the bus and saying that the mother hates her daughter. I like that the fish get mad and throw Sandy off the bus. There aren’t many other good parts to this episode. Patrick acts unlikable, which I understand is the point of the episode, but he only shows some regret. Patrick initially feels sorry for the way he acted, but SpongeBob says it was the experiment’s fault. It is a bit funny that Patrick blames science. I don’t like how Squidward never gets any ice cream. He should have at least gotten some at the end. Instead, he gets his nose and hands slammed, and he gets pushed by the door and stepped on. It’s understandable that Patrick would not recognize Sandy, and it’s kind of understandable that SpongeBob doesn’t recognize Sandy, but Squidward should have known better. Aside from Squidward getting hurt and Patrick acting unlikable, this episode doesn’t have that many things wrong with it. It’s a MEH EPISODE.

196b
“Married to Money”
Summary: Mr. Krabs marries money.
Airing Order: 36/49
Air Date: May 3, 2016
Fun Fact: Jellyfish make honey in this episode.
Highlight: SpongeBob designing the Krusty Krab for the wedding
Picture: Cashina
Quote: “If you love money so much, why don’t you marry it?” -Plankton
Review: I really wanted to like this episode. I really did. Actually, I did like it at first. But after looking at it more critically, I have to call this episode MEH. This episode seems heartwarming, but none of it is real. Even though we know Cashina is Plankton from the beginning, the ending is sad. Plankton really should have been punished for what he did. He gets away with it completely. He doesn’t even get stepped on. It’s nice that Mr. Krabs at least keeps the money Cashina was made of, but Plankton should have gotten a severe punishment for his actions in this episode. In spite of the fact that Cashina was actually Plankton, I thought I could call this a good episode just because of how heartwarming it is. But it just doesn’t work when we know it’s all a trick. Anyway, as for things I like, I like the scene of SpongeBob decorating the Krusty Krab for the wedding. I like the music that plays on the title card, when Mr. Krabs meets Cashina, and when Mr. Krab is kissing the picture of Cashina. It’s strange that jellyfish make honey in this episode, since they’ve always made jelly in other episodes. This is the closest the show has come to acknowledging that Pearl’s mother is never seen. Crab plus cash equals whale? I really wanted to call this episode good, but I can’t enjoy the romance when it isn’t real.

197a
“Mall Girl Pearl”
Summary: Pearl gets a job at the mall.
Airing Order: 33/49
Air Date: March 12, 2016
Fun Fact: SpongeBob’s smallest appearance
Highlight: Montage of Pearl and Beatrice
Picture: Perfume
Quote: “Instead of wasting my money on your clothes and school supplies, you can waste your own.” -Mr. Krabs
Review: First of all, in the very last episode, Pearl said it was gross that Mr. Krabs kissed a locket with a woman’s face on it, and yet here she’s kissing a magazine with a boy’s face on it. It’s funny how Mr. Krabs swallows his wallet when Pearl approaches him. I really like all the background characters in the mall. Just to name a few, Bubble Buddy, the didgeridoo player from Something Smells, and Carl from Selling Out all appear. Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy also appear in the background, albeit without any quotes. SpongeBob can also be seen chasing after Squidward. Speaking of SpongeBob, this is his most minor appearance to date. He appears very briefly three times. He has just one line at the very end of the episode. It almost seems as though he was put in the episode because of some kind of requirement for SpongeBob to be in every episode. Beatrice is a nice character. Although I don’t quite care for her character design, I do like her. She gives a good lesson on how things get better, and another lesson on how you’re only young once. Pearl’s friends say some mean things, but they get punished, learn their lesson, and apologize for their actions. While there are a few good jokes, this is mostly a story driven episode. That being said, I like the story. This is a GOOD EPISODE.

197b
“Two Thumbs Down”
Summary: SpongeBob loses the use of his thumbs.
Airing Order: 34/49
Air Date: March 12, 2016
Fun Fact: Not the first time Patrick takes SpongeBob’s job
Highlight: The Thumbs Song
Picture: Thumbs
Quote: “I need you to help me open this jar of peanut butter!” -SpongeBob
Review: Here we have another episode that I really wanted to call good, but just couldn’t find a good reason to do so. This episode certainly has some good things going for it, such as the live action scenes while SpongeBob’s thumbs are breaking, the Thumbs Song, SpongeBob exercising his thumbs, and the ending. It’s really nice to see the background fish rooting for SpongeBob. It’s funny when Patrick says he hates working and everyone laughs. I like how their thumbs go off and say the end. The ending feels a lot like something one would find in the classic SpongeBob era. But most of this episode is just kind of dull. This episode has some good parts to it, but I don’t think there’s enough of it for me to call this a good episode. I have to call it MEH.

198a
“Sharks vs. Pods”
Summary: SpongeBob is invited to join a gang.
Airing Order: 37/49
Air Date: May 4, 2016
Fun Fact: The Sharks are voiced by the cast of Happy Days.
Highlight: Music that plays when sharks mourn Johnny
Picture: Comb
Quote: “I told you not to worry. But you keep on worryin’.” -Sharkface
Review: I feel I should like this episode more than I do. It’s a MEH EPISODE. The dance scene at the end is pretty cool. I like the music that plays when the sharks cry about Johnny. The twist is all right. It’s predictable that Squidward is a pod. The twist of the fainting girls and health nut could have been better foreshadowed. The sharks are pretty cool and I like their character designs, but this episode doesn’t have much for me to come back to.

198b
“CopyBob DittoPants”
Summary: Plankton makes clones of SpongeBob in an attempt to steal the secret formula.
Airing Order: 38/49
Air Date: May 5, 2016
Fun Fact: SpongeBob has been duplicated before, but this is the first time the effects remains throughout the majority of the episode.
Highlight: This is why I never had children
Picture: Eyedropper
Quote: “I don’t care. I don’t care. None of this is real.” -Squidward
Review: The funniest joke is when Plankton says, “You see, this is why I never had children.” It’s also kind of funny when Patrick is rolling around on the ground. Mr. Krabs was very foolish to tell the formula to the sponge clones. He should have known it was a trick. This plot is rather cliched. It’s obvious that there will be a lot of sponge copies, since many clone stories start with one clone, and then they get out of hand. This is another one of those episodes that I liked the first time, but after rewatching it. However, unlike Married to Money, which I really wanted to call good, this one, I have no trouble at all calling MEH.

199a
“Sold!”
Summary: SpongeBob and Patrick leave their houses after believing they have been bought.
Airing Order: 39/49
Air Date: May 6, 2016
Fun Fact: Nick Fishkins refuses to buy Squidward’s house, even though he said he would buy a house of any condition.
Highlight: The German jokes
Picture: Electric clarinet
Quote: “I never knew being homeless was so expensive.” -SpongeBob
Review: First and foremost, Nick Fishkins is a hypocrite. He says he’ll buy any house, regardless of its condition, and yet he refuses to buy Squidward’s house. It makes sense that Patrick would think his house was bought, but you’d think SpongeBob would know better. I originally had a problem with Squidward having the trouble of impersonating the Fish Trapps and the rock band, but now that I think of it, he deserves the trouble he gets. He lied to SpongeBob and Patrick, and now he has to keep the lie going. This episode isn’t that funny. A few of the German jokes are mildly funny, but I still think this is a MEH EPISODE.

199b
“Lame and Fortune”
Summary: Fortune cookies that actually come true are served at the Krusty Krab.
Airing Order: 40/49
Air Date: July 11, 2016
Fun Fact: Grandpa Redbeard, Mama Krabs, and a few other crabs appear in Mr. Krabs’ daydream of his funeral.
Highlight: Excuse out of jury duty
Picture: Fortune cookie
Quote: “Thanks, fortune cookie!” -Many fish
Review: The best joke of this episode is when the piano falls on the fish and he says, “My legs! I was looking for an excuse to get out of jury duty!” It’s also rather funny when Plankton asks, “What’s full of lies and leaves a bad taste in your mouth?” and Karen answers, “Our marriage.” It’s also funny when Karen mimics Plankton. I like the visual gag of the dollars in Mr. Krabs’ eyes turn to coins and fall off. I don’t have a problem with everyone believing the fake fortunes, since they had a good reason to believe it after all the others came true. The daydream of Mr. Krabs’ funeral is dark and depressing. Though it’s cool to see Grandpa Redbeard return, Pearl is quite unlikable to say, “Oh, I’ll miss you, Daddy! But I can’t wait to spend all your hard-earned money on shoes!” Pearl seems to have some obsession with shoes this season. Plankton gives up too easily. He just gets stepped on, and then he stops trying to pick up the formula. It makes it all seem very forced. However, I do like that Plankton gets what he deserves, and the live action scene at the end is pretty cool. This is a MEH EPISODE. Maybe I would call it good if Plankton didn’t give up so easily, or if the episode were funnier. But as it is, this episode is perfectly watchable, but not particularly interesting.

“Goodbye, Krabby Patty?”
Summary: Mr. Krabs starts selling frozen Krabby Patties, but SpongeBob misses Patrick and the Krusty Krab.
Airing Order: 49/49
Air Date: February 20, 2017
Fun Fact: Squidward has been a cashier for seventeen years.
Highlight: Yellow box
Picture: Frozen Krabby Patty box
Quote: “Krabby patties. Taste so nice that they taste nice.” -SpongeBob and Patrick
Review: Here we have yet another episode that I originally thought was good, but now consider MEH. My favorite part is people calling SpongeBob a yellow box. The story is all right, but not great. There are a few other good jokes, such as Squidward saying he hates everyone right after the robot Squidward says he loves his job. It’s also funny when Mr. Krabs says, “When did food get so ugly?”. I like when Patrick says, “I’m already a star,” and Don Grouper says, “That’s the attitude.” But once again, I have to say that this episode is rather boring to watch. Not bad, but not something I would go out of my way to rewatch, especially since this is twice as long as a regular episode.

201a
“Sandy's Nutmare”
Summary: Sandy sells nutty butter, which hurts her tree.
Airing Order: 41/49
Air Date: July 12, 2016
Fun Fact: Sandy uses pink karate gloves instead of green like usual.
Highlight: The Shalmin screaming when he gets a splinter
Picture: Nutty butter
Quote: “Feed me.” -Acorn
Review: This episode has a rather interesting story and some good jokes. My favorite joke is when the Shalmon says a tree would never hurt you, then he screams when he gets a splinter. Even when I see it coming, I always laugh at the way he screams so suddenly and loudly. Similarly, I find it funny when SpongeBob says, “You’ve certainly got a real nutmare on your hands,” and Sandy slaps him. The nutty butty looks pretty tasty. I like the Shalmon, even though his lesson doesn’t make much sense. It sounds like the lesson is make copies of something to get the job done. I like the animation of the story of the sun, star, and moon. I like how when the moon is first shown, it’s a butt, which was shertainly not, I mean, certainly not, a coincidence that the pun is made. Yes, this is a GOOD EPISODE. It’s a good story with some good comedy. Nothing fantastic, but shertainly, I mean, certainly, good.

201b
“Bulletin Board”
Summary: SpongeBob puts up a bulletin board at the Krusty Krab, but people use it for bad things.
Airing Order: 45/49
Air Date: October 1, 2016
Fun Fact: Squidward has a tattoo of a flower.
Highlight: Mr. Krabs destroying the bulletin board
Picture: Bulletin board
Quote: “You were Fry Banshee?” -Patrick
Review: I get that this episode is intended to be about Internet trolling, but I don’t understand it that much, nor do I find this episode entertaining. This episode isn’t particularly funny, and one of the few parts I like is Mr. Krabs destroying the bulletin board. A lot of people like this episode, and I can see why, since this episode is about Internet trolling, which a lot of people experience a lot. But I just am bored while watching this. However, there aren’t really that many bad things about this episode, apart from the beginning when Mr. Krabs is chasing the old woman with what looks like a weapon. This is a MEH EPISODE.

202a
“Food Con Castaways”
Summary: SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs get lost in the forest on their way to Food Con.
Airing Order: 42/49
Air Date: July 13, 2016
Fun Fact: Patrick’s parents fell in love at the world’s least exciting sweater.
Highlight: I spy Mr. Krabs
Picture: Nature patty
Quote: “He says food con, but all I hear is food.” -Mr. Krabs
Review: Here we have yet another boring episode. But that’s not the only problem. SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs are lost in the forest and they only have one Krabby Patty that they need to not eat so they can enter it in food con. Not a bad premise, but the a major part of the conflict is caused by Patrick eating all but one Krabby Patty they brought with them. The other part of the conflict is caused by Mr. Krabs getting distracted and driving off a cliff. While not as frustrating as the other plot device, Mr. Krabs notices the cliff before he drives off of it, so he should have been able to stop and turn around and stop. Luckily, SpongeBob and Patrick have to carry the trailer as punishment for causing the accident. But why should they need to carry it? The only thing ever seen inside the trailer were Krabby Patties, of which Patrick ate all. You could say that perhaps they brought it just because they didn’t want to abandon the trailer, but they abandoned the car, so I don’t see why they would need to keep the trailer. It turns out that Food Con is right outside the forest, which is kind of lame, but I guess it makes sense, since maybe they didn’t know they were right near food con. What bothers me more is how pointless it is that they guard the Krabby Patty. In the end, Patrick, who already ate all the other patties, eats the last one. The nature patty wins the contest instead. To be fair, not being able to eat the Krabby Patty is what caused SpongeBob to make the nature patties. But saving the Krabby Patty really should have led to something. I wouldn’t mind all these problems as much if there were more comedy during the time they were in the forest, but there really isn’t. This is a ScumBob Episode. It’s boring, the story has problems, and the episode is pointless. It’s definitely a light scumbob episode. I originally thought it was meh, but the episode simply isn’t entertaining enough to redeem the problems I have with it. There are a small number of mildly funny jokes, such as when SpongeBob and Patrick say, “I spy with my little eye, Mr. Krabs!”. As lame as it is, I just find it funny, especially with how Mr. Krabs starts out smiling, and then he has a negative expression once they start saying that. But the few good parts of this episode are not worth the bad things.

202b
“Snail Mail”
Summary: SpongeBob lies to his penpal that he can fly, and then he needs to learn to fly a plane.
Airing Order: 47/49
Air Date: October 22, 2016
Fun Fact: In spite of the title, Gary is a minor character. However, it is Gary’s slime that causes the conflict of the episode, so the title is actually very fitting.
Highlight: Underwear gag
Picture: Envelope
Quote: “Take off. Don’t die. Fly a few seconds close to the ground. Don’t die. Land. Don’t die. So simple.” -SpongeBob
Review: First of all, I love the title. Since it’s called Snail Mail, you’d think it’s mostly about Gary. But no, Gary only appears near the beginning of the episode and is briefly mentioned when SpongeBob is learning to fly a plane. However, Gary is the cause of the plot. He slithers on SpongeBob’s letter, which causes the R to look like an L. So the title is actually very clever. It’s very predictable that there’s more to the letter than what SpongeBob reads. That plot twist was something I saw coming the first time I watched this episode. The other twist of Patrick being penpal I did not see coming. However, that twist is also kind of flawed. At the beginning of the episode, the narrator states that Patrick is away. So where does he receive the letter? It seems like they decided for Patrick to be away just so SpongeBob would decide to write to a pen pal. I do like the premise of this episode, but there are some story problems. However, all of these problems are completely forgiven because this episode is very funny. I love the underwear joke, and it’s awesome that they use it three times. It’s also really funny when SpongeBob quickly explains the situation to Sandy, and then he burps. The joke of SpongeBob thinking the choking old man is penpal didn’t make me laugh a whole lot, but it is kind of funny. It’s cool to see SpongeBob and Patrick flying the plane, and I like the badminton game. It’s really funny how the plane stops falling when it runs out of gas. It is a bit dumb that Patrick immediately refills the tank, but it’s not a big deal, since nothing bad happens to them. The plane just crashes and they walk away. Sandy and the firefish water the plane, and Sandy hands SpongeBob another pair of underwear, which, as I said earlier, is very funny. Everyone is freaking out and SpongeBob and Patrick walk into the sunset. This episode may not be perfect, but it is a GOOD EPISODE. This episode has plenty of good jokes, and I like the story, in spite of its flaws.

203a
“Pineapple Invasion”
Summary: SpongeBob hides the secret formula in his house, and Gary keeps Plankton away from it.
Airing Order: 43/49
Air Date: July 14, 2016
Fun Fact: Plankton once again says, “I went to college!”.
Highlight: The trap Gary sets up for Plankton
Picture: Shopping list
Quote: “Hey, this snail little tastes better than pineapple.” -Plankton
Review: It’s interesting that this episode points out the fact that Plankton doesn’t have a nose. The only time that’s been acknowledged before this episode is when Plankton put on a nose in The Fry Cook Games. Usually, not having a nose is Patrick’s thing. I can see why the twist of the formula being on the TV might seem cheap, but I don’t have a problem with it, because I’ve personally been looking for something and missed it, even when it was in plain sight. The interior of Gary’s shell is really cool. I just wish there were more of it. I thought it was really funny when Plankton shouts, “Aye-yai-yai!” Normally, that annoys me, but it’s really funny to hear Plankton say it this way. I like the trap that Gary sets up for Plankton. It’s cool how Plankton can hear Mr. Krabs with his detached antenna. It’s also cool that Mr. Krabs puts SpongeBob’s arm on his nose, and SpongeBob puts his leg on his nose. This episode is funny, has an interesting story, cool animation, and it’s one of the few episodes to feature Plankton and Gary together. It is a GOOD EPISODE.

203b
“Salsa Imbecilicus”
Summary: After Plankton’s failed plan makes everyone in Bikini Bottom lose their intelligence, Sandy and Karen teach them how to be smart.
Airing Order: 44/49
Air Date: July 15, 2016
Fun Fact: First episode to star Sandy and Karen
Highlight: Patrick licking Plankton’s butt
Picture: Cotton swab
Quote: “Get smart, dummy!” -Karen
Review: Every time I see the graduation ceremony, I think of the fact that I will be graduating from high school on June 22. Here we have a pair of episodes of Plankton trying to steal the formula. Not only that, but this is the third episode in a row to end with a walk into the sunset. This is a MEH EPISODE. The premise is somewhat interesting, but this episode doesn’t entertain me that much. The people supposedly all act like Patrick, but even Patrick is smarter than they are. The funniest jokes are Patrick licking Plankton’s butt and Karen mentioning boiling underpants. That joke would have been funnier if it weren’t for the laugh tracks. During the scene when Plankton laughs maniacally when he gets an idea, it really feels like Sandy was supposed to say something funny. I like the one-way chalkboard. It’s a nice callback to New Student Starfish. It’s nice to see Sandy and Karen together, since that rarely happens, but this episode should have been far funnier than it is.

204a
“Mutiny on the Krusty”
Summary: A rip current carries away the Krusty Krab.
Airing Order: 46/49
Air Date: October 8, 2016
Fun Fact: Octavious Rex a.k.a. Long, Tan, and Handsome appears again.
Highlight: The fat fish
Picture: Sailor’s knee meter
Quote: “Well, that was anti-climatic.” -Octavious Rex
Review: For whatever reason, the animation in this episode looks old compared to most episodes this season. Mr. Krabs is in a bad mood for seemingly no reason. Squidward suggestions that it might be because of pay day, but Mr. Krabs immediately cancels pay day. The adventure is all right, but I much prefer Pull Up a Barrel. It’s never explained why there’s a rip current. Sometimes it looks like the animation is reused, especially with, “Well, that was anticlimactic.” This episode isn’t that funny, either. I like the fat fish, who only has one line, but there’s not much here that I like. Luckily, there isn’t that much that I dislike, either. So, this is a MEH EPISODE.

204b
“The Whole Tooth”
Summary: Patrick is afraid to visit the dentist when he has a baby tooth that needs to be pulled out.
Airing Order: 48/49
Air Date: December 3, 2016
Fun Fact: Craig Mamilton makes an appearence.
Highlight: SpongeBob and Patrick’s reaction to the old woman’s teeth
Picture: Baby tooth
Quote: “Not wanted. That fixes it.” -Patrick
Review: I like Dr. Mundane. This episode has a good story and some good jokes. The best joke is when the old woman says, “I still have all my baby teeth and look at me!” It’s really funny the way SpongeBob and Patrick react, especially since that’s what makes Patrick finally decide to see the dentist. I don’t have a problem with it being easy to get the tooth out, since it was kind of obvious to the audience that it would be no big deal. SpongeBob is really likable in this episode. The tooth fairy/ferry twist was actually really clever. I didn’t see it coming at all, and it was done very well. It is a little questionable as to whether or not it was fair to make Squidward eat the chum, since he said that the tooth fairy isn’t real, and yet it was a tooth ferry that appeared in the episode. But I’m fine with him being punished because he was a jerk in this episode, especially how he stays up all night, just to catch SpongeBob taking the tooth. And besides, Squidward was the one who said he would eat a bucket of chum. I wonder what this episode is like in foreign languages. I can only imagine how confusing it must be, since fairy and ferry sound different in other languages. This episode is a good story, that is even a little cute in a way. There’s also some good comedy, especially the joke I mentioned earlier about the old woman with all her baby teeth. This is a GOOD EPISODE.

And that was Every SpongeBob Season 9B Episode Reviewed!
Season 9B
GOOD EPISODES: 9
MEH EPISODES: 19
ScumBob Episodes: 1
Here are the statistics for season 9B. Of course this is a MEH HALF-SEASON, as the majority of the episodes are meh. Fortunately, there are more good episodes than bad. The one bad episode was certainly tame. On the other hand, I don’t think I could call any of these episodes among the best of the series. I do, however, think 9B is better than 9A. Now let’s take a look at the statistics for the entire season.
Season 9
GOOD EPISODES: 14
MEH EPISODES: 28
ScumBob Episodes: 7
The full season also has a majority of meh episodes, which means it’s a MEH SEASON. Season 9 is not the second coming of SpongeBob as many people say. It’s certainly watchable, but it can’t compare to the first three seasons.

Now on to my top five for all of season 9.
5. The Executive Treatment
This episode is fun, funny, and Patrick is likable here.
4. Plankton’s Pet
As PieGuy said in 9A, this episode is funny, has a good story, and is a Plankton episode with only a few mentions of the secret formula.
3. Pineapple Invasion
One of the few episodes to feature Gary and Plankton, with plenty of good jokes and some cool animation.
2. Snail Mail
Though the story is flawed, it’s still a good one, and more than made up for by some really good jokes and a fun plane flight.
1. Pull Up a Barrel
While not particularly funny, this episode is a really fun adventure, and it’s nice to hear about Mr. Krabs’ past, even if it contradicts things this show has shown before.

And now for PieGuy’s bottom five. Since these are all season 9A opinions and I did not review them, I will instead try to copy PieGuy’s opinion as accurately as I can.
5. Patrick-Man!
Although I like the fight scene, Patrick is stupid during most of this episode, and I don’t find it funny.
4. Safe Deposit Krabs
This episode is boring, not funny, and pointless.
3. Squid Baby
This episode has a lot of small problems that would not be so bad on their own, but together make for a very unpleasant experience.
2. Little Yellow Book
Squidward is unlikable, the background fish are even less likable, and this episode isn’t funny.
1. SpongeBob You’re Fired
And of course, to no one’s surprise, the worst episode of season 9 is SpongeBob You’re Fired. Not only is this one of the most boring episodes of SpongeBob, but there are so many problems, from Mr. Krabs firing SpongeBob for a completely stupid reason, to the episode directly contradicting itself without even making a joke out of it, and the entire twenty-two minutes being completely pointless. I said it before and I’ll say it again. This is one of the worst episodes of the entire series.

Here are some notes for season 9B.
Funerals
Lame and Fortune and Snail Mail both feature a daydream of a funeral. While it’s only two times, this isn’t something we see very often, so I thought I’d point it out.
Pearl has a thing for shoes.
In Tutor Sauce, Pearl wants money for shoes. In Married to Money, Cashina talks to Pearl about shoes. In Lame and Fortune, imaginary Pearl plans to spend Mr. Krabs’ money on shoes. To be fair, one of these instances is a daydream, and another is someone else talking about shoes. I know Pearl has always loved shoes, but they seem to be especially associated with her in this season.
Patrick is used on technology.
In Lost in Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob has a watch of Patrick saying tick and tock. In Goodbye Krabby Patty, the microwave with Patrick’s face on it says ding with Patrick’s voice. Once again, it’s only in two episodes, but I just decided to mention it since we don’t see that very often.
Mr. Krabs’ mouth is a cash register.
There’ve been at least a few times this season when Mr. Krabs’ mouth turns into a cash register. Usually, his eyes turn into dollar signs, and that happens here as well, but this season has turned Mr. Krabs’ mouth into a cash register at least a few times.
Callbacks
This season has had many callbacks to previous episodes. I really like that and I certainly would like that to continue.
Bubble Bass
Speaking of callbacks, Bubble Bass has been appearing in a few episodes. This is once again something I hope they continue doing.
My leg!
The my leg gag appeared four or five times this season, depending on whether or not you count Squid Baby. Once again, this is something they should keep doing.

So, that’s season 9B. The DS Guy, out.

Lucky for me, I only have to wait four hours, nine minutes, and eleventy-seven and a half seconds.
Anyone who wants to watch 9B today can donate five or more dollars here. https://www.patreon.com/Pieguyrulz But you will probably not get your name in the video, unless PieGuy makes a mistake and has to reupload the video tomorrow, which is likely.

How would spoiler tags help? After you click show spoiler, wouldn't it become as it is normally?

Wew laddies.
And if this was PieGuy's review, I wouldn't even post it until tomorrow. I'm watching PieGuy's 9B review now, but I am not spoiling anything, even with spoiler tags.
