There are a lot of episodes in those seasons that have good plots, but most of them weren't executed that well; there are few episodes that were as funny as pre-movie SpongeBob. What if most of those episodes (not all, since many episodes just wouldn't work) were remade with new animation and new scripts? There would also be new episodes in place of the deleted ones, and there could be some "lost episodes" like "Sweatin' It" and "Little Floater's Wild Weekend" in animated form. The animation and script would be very similar to seasons 2-3 (I think these are the funniest and best looking) while also retaining features from season 1 (the more nautical feeling and crazy camera angles for example). The sound design would also be like the old seasons (Hawaiian and surf music, underwater sound effects). What do you think? Would you watch something like this?

Nah. I feel like once something is out there, the creators should leave it as is (no matter how much George Lucas would disagree).

what if it has actual missing episodes. What do think of remaking them or should we just let them stay lost
There should be an effort to locate them first.

In any case, if it's truly lost for good and a recreation is produced, the original version would still be lost.

  • If people aren't careful to make back-ups, the original could very well become lost media if the producers are adamant enough about hiding it (speaking in general; SpongeBob wouldn't have that problem since DVDs containing the original versions have been around for a decade or two, depending on the season).
  • Becoming a better writer, artist, etc. is about acknowledging when you've made mistakes, rather than hiding them from view. It'd be one thing if they were tweaking episodes during the storyboard phase, but tweaking finished episodes is another.
  • Many fans would prefer they stay the same.
  • Different animation just isn't going to fix episodes that are bad. Post-sequel already proves that fluid, zany animation cannot properly cover for a lack of substance/ideas.

I meant written and storyboarded by different people. The episode plots would have the same ideas but executed differently.

It still applies, though.
WHY? I don't understand your logic. What kind of logic is "well it's been tried before and failed, because it was executed badly, therefore it should never be tried again"?
