Why Does Squidward Get Tortured So Much

Now if there is one Thing one Sponge bob Will Repeat and Repeat Its Torturing Squid ward They only Made one To love a Patty one Whobob Whatpants and one Truth or Sqaure But They Will keep Torturing Squidward Until the Show Ends Now Im Going to Name some episodes Where Squidward Got tortured Because he Deserved it

Naughty Nautical Neighbors
Club Spongebob
The Camping Episode
The Lost Mattress
Squidward The unfriendly Ghost

Now also in The old Days 1999 To 2004

When Squidward Got Tortured They Were memorable

He made Sponge and pat hate each other
They take Him Jellyfishing
They go Camping and He tries to Get a Sea bear to Come
and He Breaks into their Club

Now Look at what they have Got in Stock

He goes to a Smooth Jazz
He teaches good Boat smarts
He gets Replaced by a Dummy
He becomes a Baby
he tries to have a Good sunday

Those are not Memorable

also Sponge bob and Patrick dont they Like squidward Why do They Torture him on Purpose

why are people so worked up about this?
i mean they LOVE itchy and scratchy and the torture there is CRINGE WORTHY!!
Also i do love squidward but he is a jerk
 
Now i will admit im fine when Squid gets Tortured as long as he Deserves it It episodes Like Rock Bottom Sure Spongebob Didnt Deserve it but was a cool change it the Torture Format


Now they can Still make Torture on Spongebob Funny

i mean we have That sinking Feeling thats a Great episode we have Patrick man if you consider that a Torture episode

Please dont Kill me But im kinda mixed on itchy and Scratchy I Like some episodes and i dont like others
 
First of all, Squidward was made to be annoyed from the beginning. Second, whenever he's a jerk and gets hurt, it's justified and can be funny. But whenever he gets hurt for stupid reasons (or no reason at all), it's not justified, and can be unfunny and annoying.

Funny? Ha! HAHAHAHA...No. You're not the only one. A cartoon character getting hurt is supposed to be funny though, not just gruesome (when it's played for laughs).
 
Because it's his ::dolphin noise::ing character archtype. So basically, like countless other cartoon character, his entire reason to be in the show is to be tortured, maimed, and stuff. His entire purpose in the show is to be used as a punching bag for us to laugh. I think the reason why a lot of people feels bad about Squidward is because how well-written his character is compared to other "punching-bag" characters.

Bingo. Same reason why people didn't like Homer Simpson's character changes in the later seasons of the show. I think we all see something in Squidward in ourselves so it's much more likely that we're gonna empathize with the character. That's my theory on this anyway.

Exactly. His purpose is to be tortured whether he deserves it or not. Although this is his purpose, sometimes I feel so bad for poor Squidward all he wants is peace and quiet.

Another great thing about SpongeBob: It's so well-written even the punching bag characters are likeable!
 
because the writers think that torturing Squidward is funny even when he didnt do anything wrong which it isnt, 90% of the time he doesnt do ANYTHING other than exist
