Why Do You Think There Aren't Any 'NEW' SpongeBob DVD Releases in the USA?

I think that due to DVD/ Blu-Ray sales being down and Digital Purchases are going up Ahem (Amazon Fire stick Jailbreak) that they are just putting it onto digital instead of Blu-Ray & DVD. I mean we are getting Season 9 on Blu-Ray and DVD soon but i'm talking more on the lines of themed DVDs. i dunno this all started in 2012 when 'SpongeBob On Tour' was released in the UK on DVD. i first thought it was coming out in the us. but i was wrong. and in between there were like 5-8 more dvds in the us but then it just went to UK, Australia, Japan, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Ireland and more. this just kinda concerns me. well what do you think?

DVDs sales are going down and more people watch SpongeBob with Amazon Prime and iTunes, so I can see why there isn't any new themed SpongeBob DVDs released in the US.

We are in an increasingly digital world, so it makes sense.

People don't buy DVDs anymore, besides collectors like this one guy I watch named J's Blu Rays who has a bunch of Nick DVDs.

Oh this topic again. I think I've seen this like 12 times this year. Same answer as before. I would only expect season releases on dvd at this point (hopefully a bluray too)

I dont get the point of the compilation dvds. tbh it's kinda an outdated idea if you think about it. Maybe it works better in countries where spongebob just doesn't exist in streaming?

I'm not too sure

Compilation DVD's are good for people who don't have access to SpongeBob on television. The Compilation DVD's allow these people to watch the latest episodes without having to wait a year (or more) for the complete season set to come out.

Make's sense. They've been releasing these since 2001 so it makes sense that there not making anymore in the U.S.A.

how many people use streaming though (illegal or not). It just seems kinda counter intuitive. They still make compilations on iTunes/Google Play anyway. How many people now don't have a phone or computer. I got it and how it worked back then, but not now. Now it just seems outdated to me.

Not to mention the people on here who buy all the compilations and the season releases...

Young kids are not likely to be using illegal streaming. There's definitely an audience for the compilation DVD's - I was a big fan of them when I was a 10 year old (without Nickelodeon). Nowadays I know I can easily watch the latest episodes, (err, perfectly legally :shiftysponge:) immediately after they air and the DVD's are pointless. But SpongeBob's target audience is likely not the type to be internet pirates.

I wish they had special features though to make them actually worth something to someone who has seen the episodes. Commentaries, storyboards or deleted scenes for every episode on a disc would be great.

But you know who does have a smartphone? Kids. They sell the compilations on itunes now. The compilations may as well be itunes only at this point because it's easier (and legal lololololo)

Hadn't thought of how more and more kids are having smartphones. Yeah, good point.
