What If "SpongeBob, You're Fired" Ended This Way?

I was thinking earlier, it was pretty predictable that at the end of the episode, SpongeBob would get his job back at The Krusty Krab. After all, the writers usually hit the reset button at the end of each episode, or things just end the same way the episode started

But, what if SpongeBob never got his job back at the end of the episode? What if the writers decided to make a change and have a series of episodes following where SpongeBob was working somewhere else? Not permanently, I'm talking for like 5 to 10 episodes or so. How would you feel about that? Do you think maybe the writers should haven taken a chance to change things a bit and not have SpongeBob get his job back?

A lot of people eventually would riot or freak out via twitter to the staff or some other kind of social media, even the fans who stopped watching it ages ago. I'm honestly sure of this.

It sounds like a good concept, but I don't think that it would work with SpongeBob. It's an episodic comedy cartoon. I don't think that it would have any type of story arch. Now, it could have a series of episodes that are loosely tied together (ie. Legends of Bikini Bottom), but probably not like what you're saying.

Lets be honest, The Krusty Krab can't survive 2 seconds without SpongeBob. We've seen this onscreen before
