Was Mrs. Puff justified in trying to murder SpongeBob?

So many people say she was evil for this, but think about it, SpongeBob has almost gotten her killed so many times. She was only trying to save her own life, because SpongeBob puts it in danger all the time. I think people overreact to this episode, Mrs. Puff is still a good person.

What do you think?

She's no better than Spongebob if she was willing to stoop as low as he inadvertently did. If anything, she'd be worse since Spongebob never had intentions on killing her whereas she had intentions on killing him.

Yeah, but it's just a cartoon, so obviously you can do things you shouldn't do in real life. Even in real life it would be almost sort of understandable, but still wrong and horrible, but in a cartoon, it's just fine, because it isn't real. :)

Not to say Mrs. Puff attempting to murder SpongeBob was necessary, but she reached her breaking point after all the crap SpongeBob put her through amounted to her inflation sack being punctured. I'd be pretty much the same (no, I won't murder anyone) if I had enough!

I partially agree with you and I dont really blame for turning insane but at the same time, I feel like she can do something else like quitting her job.

Doesn't saying this defeat the whole purpose of this topic?

This wasn't very cartoony violence tbh.

I have a theory. Her inflation triggered a part in her brain that snapped, causing her to think extremely irrational thoughts about SpongeBob. She reached her breaking point. However the writers didn't really make that obvious hence the hate that this episode gets.

No.

If she killed SpongeBob then she was just a murderer. And she would be the most dangerous person of Bikini Bottom. In the end, she would be nothing more than a crazy serial killer. That's all she would be. Nothing more and nothing less.

She couldn't have ever been successful, though, because the show is called "SpongeBob SquarePants". They can't do SpongeBob SquarePants without SpongeBob SquarePants. So since it's just a cartoon and she couldn't have possibly been successful in getting him killed, it wasn't a big deal to try and let him get hurt really bad. :)

That's true, but i kinda thought outside the box. :P

I see this more of as understandable action than justified. I don't think killing anyone is right (I know this is a cartoon, just saying if this happened in real life) but I can understand why Mrs. Puff would try to get rid of him. Unlike other episodes, SpongeBob actually injured Mrs. Puff in a really horrifying way, Mrs. Puff lost her puffness and if she gets hurts, it'd be in a worse condition, so it makes sense to me why Mrs. Puff tried to murder him. A lot of people say it's OOC for her but I disagree. Mrs. Puff tried everything to get SB out of her life but all the time, it never worked (yeah, the show has no coninuty, just talking about her character). At times, she was nice to him because she didn't feel in danger in those moments. So in conclusing, I don't think it's right for her to kill SpongeBob but I can see why she'd act like that.

Btw, I find this so ironic that Mrs. Puff gets arrested for misunderstood or cops being harsh but this time when she was trying to commit murder, she got away with it and she got her puffness back lmao.

Can I just state for the record that I can't stand the "it's just a cartoon" reason? Yeah there's things in cartoons that can't happen in real life, but does that make things happening in said cartoons anymore or less good/bad? And yeah, you are right that cartoons are fake and you shouldn't do that in real life, but remember that cartoons still have various flaws within themselves. Also you'd be killing off a beloved cartoon character that many adore soooooooooooooooo.....................

Um, killing someone in a cartoon is not even comparable to killing someone in real life... =/

I know. Also why'd you even bring in real life scenarios in the first place? It didn't have to do with what I said T_T.

You said that you don't like the "It's just a cartoon thing", but it is just a cartoon, which isn't the same thing as real life.
I know, but I don't like the notion. I feel it's always used to justify bad writing and that just rubs me the wrong way.

I feel like it's used to justify comedy and hilarity and characters acting like exaggerations of real personalities and things not being realistic and there being lots of weird and hilarious stuff. :)
