The traditionally animated seasons of Family Guy also have the rainbow effect:

Depsite the fact that these episodes had the dot crawl and the CRT artifacts, Family Guy looked so much better when it was done on paper

OK thanks. Do you think they will fix Dumped and Survival of the Idiots? I haven't seen a single clean copy of those episodes except for the German prints.
perhaps they will

Anyone notice how shows made in the 70s or ealier don't have the VHS effect, the VHS effect is only prominent in shows that were made in the 80's through 2001. Speaking of 2001:

Ewwwww, early season 3 of dexter's lab has some NASTY dot crawl:

Various episodes, but not all, have been upscaled to pillarboxed widescreen with MUCH improved quality. Here's an overview of which episodes (the ones with the black bars in the preview thumbnails):

Sadly, Survival of the Idiots and Dumped haven't been updated (yet?). But who knows...

Anyway, here's a few screenshots from the vastly improved episodes:

The image that started it all (almost)...

And, guess what episode pair is no longer dull-colored :D

But more importantly...

Looks like Nickelodeon is secretly accepting our requests for restored prints of these episodes :) Either that or they just simply looked at the episodes, wondered how the heck they were airing such low quality prints, and decided to tidy them up on their own. Or perhaps they're doing this to gear up for some sort of special 20th anniversary re-release... Either way, this is a really good thing.

Is nick still broadcasting the dot crawl episodes, or both iTunes and Nick HD have clean prints. I wouldn't know since I haven't had cable since 2015

sadly Nickelodeon probably won't because they've sped up their old broadcast tapes beyond even PAL/SECAM standards on the main network and Nicktoons prefers it's older versions that weren't sped up (Survival of the Idiots/Dumped is noticeably softer on Nicktoons)

I wonder if iTunes' updated prints have the Nickelodeon comet tail?

They should just air pre-movie episodes on the splat. Nick butchered the prints of classics anways

judging by the haloing they must be international prints (I meant to quote the images)

Off topic from SpongeBob, I noticed how the ChalkZone episode "Snap Out of Water" is hit with on and off composite effects for the first 4 or 5 minutes so hard that it's even in international prints and even affects the intro in that episode (you can see dot crawl around the Nickelodeon speech bubble added in international prints if you look hard enough)
ChalkZone_international_transfers.jpg

as i'm typing this, Nickelodeon USA's western feed is airing the SpongeBob episodes "Penny Foolish/Nautical Novice" in 4:3

Many 2000s shows have the on and off composite artifacts

In Just One Bite, Spongebob is drawn with two designs:

https://www.sbmania.net/pictures.php?img=GC4cAQz9OAcU8TJ7cL34iAjBYcPFxYFaUv4c5nZO7XA%3D

https://www.sbmania.net/pictures.php?img=bQ9WMh02ZRUzTrXJsAP0%2B8DvF2TONJxCWl0APxBxvxY%3D

I find it hysterical how the cerain Toonz Prenium era episodes alternate between art styles throughout the episode.

Anyone notice how various art directors can still storyboard episode in different art styles:

Look at the Algea's Always Greener, it has the normal thin-line season 3 animation, it was storyboarded by CH Greenblat:

https://www.sbmania.net/pictures.php?img=2S%2F%2BYx4OUEVGMqxosRQnHJUIA%2BbeO8hJQ7GV2z%2Bh6Bo%3D

Then look at Wet Painters, also boared by CH Greenblat, but it's a markerbob episode:

Which Season 2/3 style do you guys prefer?

Normal thin lined animation:
