Upcoming 2-part episode: "Escape from beneath Glove World"

according to Nickalive there is a new SpongeBob special coming

however, not much info is known yet except that it will guest star Rob Paulsen from the G.I Joe cartoon series & will be in 2 parts

my question is:

why did it take this show SO long to do an epic 2-part special?

The fact that Rob Paulsen’s in it already has me interested. Not quite “excited”, because I’m getting some Sewers of Bikini Bottom vibes from the title alone, but this could make for a good outro to Season 12 if it airs late like Goons on the Moon did.

With how SpongeBob has little continuity, having a long-time location be changed permanently would be strange. Not to mention Glove Universe is from a less-than-stellar season (imo)
