Oh, I'm making another list. Yeah, I already have two other running lists, but I'll try to update each one every day, k? The ones that got away:

13. The Plays the Thing

Boring, with some poor self-aware humor and some Squidward torture as well. It's mainly just really, really boring.

12. House Fancy

There's the toe-nail scene, and Squidward ends up with his house destroyed and most of his stuff broken. It could be much worse, and I do kind of regret having it on my Top 20 Worst when Shuffleboarding missed out.

11. Breath of Fresh Squidward

I don't care what Mr. Enter say, this isn't nearly that bad. It's still pretty bad with a lack of logic and everyone being idiotic. We're also supposed to feel bad for Spongebob...?

13. Boring.

12. Besides for the toenail scene, this episode wasn't too bad but "Krabby Road" is a much much better episode out of that pairing.

11. I never looked into this one that much in that context (Opposite Day ending killed me) and found it funny when I watched it and I still stand by that opinion. I was still surprised and confused as to how this managed to be worse than the other eps that made it into Mr. Enter's countdown. I was really expecting something like "Squid Wood" or "Sponge-Cano" to be up there.

12 And 11 Are Squidward Torture Porns? I Know House Fancy Has The Toenail Scene But Overall Squidward Wins At The End.

I'll follow.

For the rest, TPtT is really boring and a direct ripoff, House Fancy is also PLUS cringe-inducing visuals and I LOVE Breath of Fresh Squidward my fifth favorite Season 5 episode.

House Fancy isn't a Squidward torture episode, sure Squidward's house destoryed but still Squidward won at the end. Breath of Fresh Squidward and The Play's the Thing are pretty good episodes as well. I'm following this episode. If there isn't any pre-movie Squidward torture episodes on the list, I'll destory you.

#10 - Boat Smarts

Writers: Casey Alexander, Zeus Cervas, Richard Purse
SBmania Score: 6.9
Season: 5

This is a pretty bad episode, but it's also a short, so other episodes get the edge over this one. I am definitely thankful this is a short, because if it wasn't, it would be much higher. In this episode, Squidward does the right thing and is punished for it. Meanwhile, Spongebob does the wrong thing and doesn't get a scratch.

This episode has some jokes that would hit, but unfortunately do not due to the fact that they are at the expense at someone who doesn't deserve it. I don't see how so many people like this episode, when really it's just as bad as quite a few episodes that other people scold all the time. It seems contradictory to like this episode but dislike an episode like Boating Buddies, to me at least.

I feel like this episode would have worked a lot better if it was Spongebob receiving the torment for his own actions, and if they didn't make us sit through ALL of the torment that Squidward goes through within the episode. There are no really graphic scenes, and it isn't particularly memorable, which are things that also keep this from being any higher.

Another reason this episode is lower is because, when they make jokes that aren't at Squidwards expense they are pretty funny. (Like the C.O.B.B.U.T.K.S.B.S.P.A.T.R.A.O.O.B.A.T) but most of the jokes just fail overall, making this episode thoroughly painful.

I've never watched this one so no comment exactly, but it's seems like with me, the shorts don't really bother me as much as if something like this had been turned into a much longer episode. It's why even though the plot for "Good Ol' Whathisname" is really really stupid and the ending is as well, I just can't get that mad at it because of how ridiculous and short it is and how it doesn't even feel canon at all to me. I'm going to try to find this one today so I can have more thoughts of my own about it.

Boat Smarts is too short for me to hate. The things that happen to Squidward are more slapstick and silly than anything, so I honestly can't get mad at that. I really don't like the ending though, with SpongeBob's last boat smarts line. What a stinger.

#9 - Squid's Visit

Writers: Casey Alexander, Zeus Cervas, Derek Iversen
SBmania Score: 3.0
Season: 5

I don't need to explain why this is on the list, do I? In this episode, Spongebob wants Squidward to visit him, but he refuses to. Spongebob basically cries to him (and I feel like I'm watching A Day Without Tears) until he comes to the conclusion, with the help of Patrick, that he should steal Squidwards vacuum.

SBSV14.jpg

He does so, forcing Squidward to visit him. Basically, Spongebob made his house exactly like Squidwards, by stalking Squidward. If you've broken into someone's house enough times to know details like the contents of their medicine cabinet, you should probably stop there. There is plenty of shoe-horned Squidward psychical torture moments, such as him slipping and hitting his head like three times (see Squid Baby for this being a plot point), but most of the torment comes psychologically as Squidward is tormented by seeing Spongebobs house being an exact replica of his.

There's also some creepy faces, and a really bizarre ending that does NOT fit into the episode, or the show at all. Squidward's house, for the millionth time, burns down because he keeps his casserole in the oven, which is the only thing I will give to this episode. It gets some points because they mentioned the casserole earlier. Other than THAT making sense, the rest of the plot does not and just makes this episode a jumbled mess.

Another thing... were the writers TRYING to make this episode creepy? If that was the intention, that would be fine, just not in this show. I could honestly see this working in a different show if they took out the crying, the psychical
abuse, and the ending, which is something that most other shows don't do (I'm pretty sure Spongebob is the only character who's crying will make me mute the television... I can't think of anyone else.) I do think they were trying to be scary, but horror plots don't work here. They can work in kids shows, and Courage the Cowardly Dog proved this. But not in shows where the intention is to be light-hearted, rather than to be emotionally scarring on the viewer, which is how it came off.
