I'm surprised to see practically no one is talking about it on here! I certainly understand having reservations about the concept of a SpongeBob musical on Broadway, but having now seen it twice, I can say that I found it to be extremely well-done. The actors do a great job capturing the characters, the production design is wonderfully imaginative, and the songs are terrifically varied. It's been getting strong critical reception too.

As a fan, I had some suggestions for the show that I made a video out of. I tweeted it at the writer and director and they liked it! So if anyone wants to check that out, here it is- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxUdbrMA04M

I'd be curious to know if anyone else has seen the musical or perhaps listened to the soundtrack. Let me know what you think!

that's interesting vid of this review, liked how you made good pace with this discussion.

Thank you so much! Yeah, right after I saw the show I started writing this! It still hasn't even officially opened yet! Have you seen it or heard the soundtrack by any chance? What do you think?

Wow- well then again, apparently most of the rest of this forum hasn't either haha. That's crazy; I guess they need to promote it a little better!

I have seen the show, and I absolutely LOVE it. The set design is beautiful, the songs are fantastic, and the cast nailed their characters while adding their own unique spin to them. Ethan Slater, Lilli Cooper, Danny Skinner, Gavin Lee, etc., are all wonderful actors/actresses that faithfully represented the show we all love. I, much like most people including the crew, am happy the show didn't turn into a cheap theme park show with bulky costumes. Instead, the show turned out to be a well made, fun, and faithful recreation of SpongeBob. Overall, I had so much fun seeing the show, and I can go on and on for hours about how good it is. I fully recommend the musical to anyone on this website. At the least, check out the cast album! You won't be disappointed.

Also, your video was fantastic, and I agree with all of your points made! Really well done and great suggestions!

Almost everyone on this forum know the spongebob musical happened. In the bottom feeder there's like a 7 page discussion thread. The thing is most sbm members can't:
1. Get to Broadway so easily
2. Afford this in the first place
Or 3:
Don't care much at all.

Maybe discussion will be more prevalent later on but the show literally just opened. You have to be a bit patient

Good show though I saw it last week in previews.

I'm not fond of the idea of SpongeBob in Broadway, but it's nice that the cast and crew members actually went to NYC to see it.

Oh, thank you very much! I worked very hard on it. And I'm glad to know that everyone who's seen it so far enjoys it. For those who are skeptical, or don't plan on being in NYC anytime soon, I totally agree that they should listen to a sampling of the cast album. Bikini Bottom Day, being the opening number, is a great place to start, as well as Just a Simple Sponge.
