Strange unused background from the episode Snowball Effect

I recently found this post on Twitter by Adam Paloian, a storyboard artist, and he explains about this strange, unused background that was supposed to be used for the episode, Snowball Effect, but never was. Also, he says that it was a "lost" painting, so this could mean something...

It also turns out that I guess this was supposed to be for Fort Squidward, so this is pretty much a deleted scene. Interesting.

There was a cut scene in the Snowball Effect? Maybe they thought that a snowman being on board chained up was a little too much (even though Patrick did that in Suds).

Ah, this looks hilarious! I wish it would've been kept.

Oh well, Snowball Effect is still a great episode!

I always felt like the part with Squidward building the fort was a TINY bit drawn out, sucks we couldn't have some more creativity with it, similar to the creativity of the sand in Sandcastles In The Sand.

Yeah never mind, it's pretty clear on the Storyboard why this was cut, sounds a little threatening "bring them to his snow dungeon".

lol that's hilarious... awesome background.
Interesting how far into development stuff can get on the show before getting cut.

"But what if they try to engage in a siege? What would happen then? Now I have set up my INTERNAL DEFENSES against them as well! They'll never make it past my trap machines! But what if they dare climb up the tower? That's pretty simple, simply aim at them as they scale with their ropes."
