Anyone notice how in season 1, some episodes look pretty ugly:




But other looks very decent:

Help Wanted (1997) and Tea at the Treedome look funky yet the middle episode, "Reef Blower" looks more of Season 1 spongebob. hmph

The entire storyboard crew does wacky faces though, not just Adam.

A few episodes of Seasons 10-12 have episodes where the wacky animation took a step back, Feral Friends and more recent Sandy's Nutty Nieces are one that I can think of in the top of my head at the moment where facial expressions are not as dramatic, I was shocked seeing how tame SNN was compared to its sister's episodes.

Reef Blower was actually produced much later in season 1 than the other two, which is why it still looks more like your typical season 1 episode.
