I came to a realization that SpongeBob (in a way) is just like Scooby Doo.
Why Scooby Doo? Well Scooby Doo ain't really associated with all the other Hanna Barbara characters that much any more like how SpongeBob is with the Nicktoons.
Okay, maybe a better example would be that SpongeBob has grown so much in popularity that at this point, even if the original series ends, there is going to be another spinoff series or a "reboot" series to continue SpongeBob, It always happens with these types of cartoons that gets successful.
Take a look at Scooby Doo (from what I said earlier), Tom & Jerry, and Looney Tunes - all of which becoming successful and yet no one saying anything about it.
Scooby Doo and Looney Tunes lost their major voice actors, Looney Tunes especially since most of those characters were primarily voiced by one person for around 50 years. Plus with Tom & Jerry with its dark age during its theatrical run, those cartoons are what managed to beat Looney Tunes in terms of popularity.
Reason why I bring these up is well, I guess we have to accept that SpongeBob will be like this one day. It won't be the same but at the same time, people will continue love what they like to watch. That's how SpongeBob became like this - because it was popular then, it still is now, and it'll be popular in the future.
