Season 8 holdovers

Anyone still find it hard to believe that the season eight holdovers (Super Evil Aquatic Villain Team Up is Go through Hello Bikini Bottom), were made before the first few episodes of season 9. I know that other seasons had overlapping episodes, but this is a big deal, because Season 9 marked the show's transition to HD. So it's very weird watching these Standard-Definition holdovers after seeing the new HD ones. In 2012, it felt very weird when the season 8 holdover, The Good Krabby name, which was in standard def, air the same night as an HDTV Season 9 episode, which was Squid Baby. I still find it hard to believe that Hello Bikini Bottom came just before Extreme Spots in production. The episodes are nothing alike in no way shape or form, but nope, Extreme Spots was made right after Hello Bikini Bottom.

It was one of the show’s biggest changes, because the screen size is a big deal with comedy and animation. You have to fit more in, but not so much that the view gets cluttered. Obviously, the show didn’t change much tonally between Season 8 and the first half of 9, but a switch to HD was a pretty big deal for any show at the time.
