Between Season 8 and Season 7, I'm going to have to say Season 7 was the worse season, making it the worst season of SpongeBob. Season 8 had more enjoyable episodes, and less horrible ones, but it did have a lot of mediocre ones. So season 8 is a mediocre/bad season, but I don't think it's as bad as people sometimes make it out to be.

Between Season 8 and Season 7, I'm going to have to say Season 7 was the worse season, making it the worst season of SpongeBob. The most boring season in SpongeBob's history. If 9B never happened it probably how the rest of the show would've look like. Bland, boring, more sterile than usual.

This season is pretty forgettable. While it's better than seasons 6 and 7, most of the episodes aren't stuff I'd really want to come back to. However, since the majority of these episodes are good, it's a good season. I will say the humor is more of a focus here than stories, and the season kind of feels like season 2 except not as good.

Better than Season 7 by a wide margin, but I still wouldn't call it "good", just really meh. Just a lot of bland, forgettable, and slow episodes. The top 3 episodes easily break into my top 100 though.

Okay, the amount of bad episodes is not as troublesome as S6-S7, but I'm not much of a fan of S8. It's middle-of-the-road.
- Frozen Face-Off is a pretty entertaining special.
- Hello Bikini Bottom has a rushed ending, but definitely works as a special.
- Sweet and Sour Squid is the funnier S8 episode.
- Albeit not that filled with jokes, For Here or to Go, Mooncation, The Hot Shot, Plankton's Good Eye and The Way of the Sponge all got solid ideas.
- Karen 2.0 is much better than Single Cell Anniversary.
- Planet of the Jellyfish has two flaws: the lack of jokes and its sister.
- At the very least Krabs gets punished for his excessive greed in Barnacle Face and his considerable stupidity in Drive Thru.
- Ghoul Fools may not be as tedious as Ghost Host, but it's still very disappointing.
- Squidward's School for Grown-Ups brings the unique idea of Squidward and Patrick bonding, but the conclusion seems kinda shallow.
- Glove World R.I.P. gets fortunately less bad midway after a lame beginning.
- Fiasco! becomes worse and worse despite a good start.
- EVERYONE BUT SQUIDWARD IS AN IDIOT IN HOME SWEET RUBBLE. Home Sweet Pineapple done wrong.
- The Other Patty is Best Frenemies with a crappy ending.
- Bubble Buddy isn't good enough to deserve a sequel. Bubble Buddy Returns makes the original Bubble Buddy look like a masterpiece.
- Good lord, Patrick is so dumb in Restraining Spongebob, like NOXIOUS level of dumb.
- Same issue as Pet Sitter Pat. This Patrick isn't necessarily the same Pat-prick as Yours, Mine and Mine, but he's still an unjustifiable character.
- Don't worry though, Pat-prick does appear in The Googly Artiste and A Friendly Game. Awful.
- Amazing how Mrs. Puff was arrested so many times for random reasons and when she actually deserves to be arrested, she gets away with it, like in The Bully and Demolition Doofus. THE ONLY TIMES SHE DESERVED IT SHE'S LEFT UNPUNISHED. Due to this and Spongebob's insufferable attitude, this episode sucks sufficiently to be included in the terrible tier.
- Face Freeze! is all about hideous expressions. Not S11 level of wacky. S8 level of GRUESOME. There's not even any trace of plot.
- House Sittin' for Sandy should be loathed and avoided like a plague. Disgusting, boring, filled with pointless filler, ending is ::dolphin noise::e... I'd stay away from it.
- Smoothe Jazz is bottom 2. It's not overhated, it's RIGHTFULLY hated because it's not funny, it's got NO redeeming qualities, Squidward is the most sympathetic character out there, Patrick is at his absolute worst, the ending is inconceivable... I don't even want to write the full title, it's not worth it.
- ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? IS SIMPLY THE SINGLE WORST SB EPISODE EVER MADE:
1) I MIGHT buy Squidward not having any happy memories, since there's barely no trace of continuity AT THIS POINT.
2) Squidward isn't portrayed as his usual grouchy, bored and uninterested self, but as a CLINICALLY DEPRESSED PATIENT. ARE YOU SERIOUS? IT'S A SPONGEBOB EPISODE. F*** off.
3) Squidward's depression is treated like it was nothing, because YES, suggesting (not very) subtle references to SUICIDE throughout the episode will certainly improve the situation. This isn't funny to the slightest. F*** off.
4) Looking back at other episodes hated by fans, A Pal for Gary and Smoothe Jazz both irritate the audience, One Coarse Meal makes people uncomfortable... this one simply makes me feel horrified because it's basically making fun of depressed patients. "YES, DEPRESSED PEOPLE TEND TO HANG THEMSELVES. LOL". Pretty unsettling and morbid message.
5) The ending is abysmal. Whoever wrote this episode should be ashamed. - Bottom line, this episode can blow me and die once and for all.

Before I get into anything, just one question about season 8: why are there so many titles with exclamation points? That is all.
This season is definitely an improvement over season 7, with less horrible episodes + episode trends and much better great episodes. While not peak SpongeBob by any means, I think this season gets too much of a bad rep, probably from having Pet Sitter Pat in it, which is my 3rd least favorite episode of the entire show.
But like I was saying, the highs here are really high, like some of the best episodes since season 3 or 4 type of high. It's a SpongeBob Christmas! is just about as good as Christmas Who?, and Planet of the Jellyfish, Hello Bikini Bottom!, and Frozen Face-Off are all excellent. I also really like Ghoul Fools, I have a soft spot for Halloween/ghost-themed episodes.

Additional Comments:
Before I get into anything, just one question about season 8: why are there so many titles with exclamation points? That is all.
This season is definitely an improvement over season 7, with less horrible episodes + episode trends and much better great episodes. While not peak SpongeBob by any means, I think this season gets too much of a bad rep, probably from having Pet Sitter Pat in it, which is my 3rd least favorite episode of the entire show.
But like I was saying, the highs here are really high, like some of the best episodes since season 3 or 4 type of high. It's a SpongeBob Christmas! is just about as good as Christmas Who?, and Planet of the Jellyfish, Hello Bikini Bottom!, and Frozen Face-Off are all excellent. I also really like Ghoul Fools, I have a soft spot for Halloween/ghost-themed episodes.

- I dont know why Treats! is underhated its actually good and is my personal season 8 episode so far
- Dont kill me but i just found SJABB and Demolition Doofus funny
- Karen 2.0 is a classic and interesting action-packed episode!
- Face Freeze is overhated i respect it but i think its okay The faces were cringeworthy but the setup was actually decent
- Squiditis is boring as hell but its got a clever plot
- TKPTABB is action-packed and the ending was good but its really weird
- Googly Artiste has decent moments but its not funny
- I HATE HOW BORING BARNACLE FACE IS! Its also gross
- House sittin for sandy is a no
- DO NOT WATCH INSPONGEIAC IT GETS VERY DISTURBING FAST I DO NOT KNOW WHY PEOPLE LIKE IT! ITS THE WORST SEASON 8 EPISODE!

Thoughts:
This season was the hardest to get through. Not because it was the worst, but because it was so boring, most of the bad episodes were just there, the average episodes were painful in their averageness and most of the good episodes were just ‘better than most of this’, I could’ve given like 40 of the 47 episodes a 2/5 and wouldn’t of given it any thought other than that. I’ll say that the Vacation miniseries is an improvement on the Legends miniseries as they have a more coherent theme, they eased up on the gross outs, thank god, they saved it all up for ‘Face Freeze!’, no doubt. But really, all my positives for the season overall is just ‘this is less bad’. Really describes the season for me, there’s less bad but it’s replaced with the most sanitary SpongeBob ever made. Well, only 1 season left, boy it’s a doozy.

I really don't know how else to describe this season but "dull". A problem that I've noticed with the sub-par episodes (in general) is that their stories feel really barebones to the point that certain scenes are dragged out longer than needed, then if we're lucky, some random wacky shenanigans will start at the most unnecessary moments just to give off the illusion that the plot is actually progressing. It's incredibly sad how stale the show has gotten, and it feels like the writers don't care about the quality. The season does still beat Season 6 by a slight margin, but I would honestly consider it worse than Season 7. At least I can more easily remember the good episodes from that season than this one. Some of these episodes even border on being unwatchable because of how.. nothing they feel.
