This is the project I was talking about. =]

So, season 2 vs season 3. A never ending debate between two golden seasons. We all know that the platinum days of SpongeBob starts and ends between the two seasons. But between the 2, which is the better? Both delivered massive success with great episodes such as Band Geeks, Graveyard Shift, Chocolate with Nuts, Krusty Krab Training Video and many more. Debates between which one's better had drop in both quantity and quality for the last few months, and I wanted to bring it back.

What I'm trying to do here is to compare each episode in direct combat situation. In hopes that it will prove that one season is superior than the other. The battle will be based on the episode's number. First episode of season 2 against first episode of season 3, and so on.

In the mean time, you guys can develop interesting arguments and post YOUR opinions on the 2 seasons.

Now, let's begin with the first pairing!

EPISODES #1

My Verdict : These two episodes are the beginnings of the each season. Let's start with Your Shoe's Untied. This was an episode with so many witty premises. They created a creative situation in which SpongeBob struggles to live his life with his untied shoes. I liked the song, for once. It's funky, groovy, and it literally told me how to tie my shoes. The humor in this episode? Not highly visible, but the creative concepts, such as the patty delivering bit, made up for it. And then we have The Algae's Always Greener. This was even MORE creative then the season 2 opener. As it revolves around life switch between Plankton and Krabs. The structure was unique, the jokes were highly visible (OH MY GOODNESS?!), And the concepts were highly witty. In conclusion, I find the season 3 opener a better episode.

Score : Season 2 0-1 Season 3

This episode revolves Squidward's conscience playing psychological mind games on himself to check on his job. Which meant that not only the moral value in this episode is quite visible ([/background][background=rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.498039)]As lazy and irritating you can be, your conscience will always guide you to better things) but the execution was top class. Squidward was absolutely at his best in this episode. His crazy acts was incredibly amusing. And SpongeBob's innocence helped a lot, as I find it hilarious to see his bog-face while asking the same question all over again. The plot was creative and the execution was top class. Then we have SpongeGuard On Duty. It had a pretty decent story line, but the execution is rather, meh. There are some classic moments, like the ice cream truck bit, or Patrick's arse. But the rest of the episode didn't really entertained me as much as SDO did. Overall, season 2 grabs my heart here, and have pulled level.[/background]

Could you analyze Season 4 and Season 8 next, or Season 5 and Season 6?

[background=rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.498039)]My Verdict [/background]:[background=rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.498039)] The third episodes, lads! And boy do we have a battle royal here. Now, I'm sure you all agree when I say Something Smells is simply a television marvel. The plot line isn't that creative, but the top class execution hid it. Patrick was a genius in this episode. The ugly barnacle, the "LOOK AT IT!" bit, the rant in the bathroom. He was flawless. Overall, a magnificent episode. And then we look at at Club SpongeBob. CS, in my opinion, is as funny as Something Smells. But this time, the outlet is Squidward. Whose act amused me by a certain extent. But what I like about CS is the situation established. I liked how they got stranded in a kelp forest and Squidward going crazy about it. I always loved the pre-movie correlation between the 3 neighbors. Both episodes are hilarious, both episodes were brilliant in developing one of the characters, both episodes are magnificent. But I would pick Club SpongeBob, simply because of it's creative situation, and the correlation between the 3 neighbors + Conch Shell which entertained me throughout the whole episode. Much to everyone's dismay.[/background]

[background=rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.498039)]My Verdict [/background]:[background=rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.498039)] And now we move on to the fourth episodes. Let's start with Bossy Boots. It was ehhh, meh episode really. Never really amused me in a high level. I find the plot, well, decent. The humor is quite good. I like Squidward's act in this episode, but that's the best I could give towards this episode. SpongeBob was decent, Pearl was stale, and Krabs wasn't really entertaining. So it's not a golden season 2 episode. Juts a rather decent one. And then My Pretty Seahorse. This was clearly the better episode. The situation it establish is quite creative, and the conflict that end it was heart-warming. Most of the jokes in this episode are either dark (the explosions), hard to understand (The horse is a girl, right? So the coin slot is . . . bloody hell >_>), or simply clever (the onions). Even the last 9 seconds of the episode with Patrick was superb. SpongeBob was charming, Squidward was a stick-in-the-mud comedy gold and so is Patrick, and Krabs was a wise father figure. Simply, a heart-warming fable with creative, inspired comedy. Season 3 gets another win.[/background]

I disagree with the first choice. I love both episodes, but feel like Something Smells is a lot better. B) As for Bossy Boots vs. My Pretty Seahorse, I agree that MPS is a lot more engaging, humorous, and well-written than BB. I can't wait to see you compare Idiot Box to Big Pink Loser, but I think I know which episode will win.

An episode that revolves around the utter stupidity of Patrick Star. Now, in the current times, there are many episodes that develop Patrick as an intolerable idiot. The guy's idiocy either causing havoc for others or sometimes it's just too stupid it's not funny. In this episode, Patrick literally invents new and ingenious ways of being stupid. Failing even the simplest of tasks while doing hilarious antics. He execute all of it with top class acts that are hilarious to watch. The jar bit was creative, humorous and amusing. The phone bit was comedy gold. Overall, a top class episode where the simplest of premises can turn gold with terrific execution. And then we have Just One Bite. This was a similar episode, revolving around a certain obsession from a certain character. And yes, you can not doubt the hilarity that ensues within the episode. Like that "I have no soul" bit, or the sure face bit, or even SB's original rape face. All creative execution that brought home points. But I just don't find this more entertaining than Big Pink Loser. At some point I started to find it eerie. So I pick BPL because I find Patrick's genius comedy antics more entertaining than Squid's desperation acts. Season 2's not out yet.[/background]

Thanks to the marvelous brilliance of Bubble Buddy. This episode is about SB's new friend which he created by himself, called Bubble Buddy. Bobby creates havoc in the city thanks to Bubble Buddy's inability to do anything. First off, I love the premise. It's very creative. And they execute it brilliantly. Bubble Buddy's oblivious act, and SB's optimism delivers nothing but amusement. The toilet bit was hilarious, Squidward's services were comedy gold, and the last bit was unpredictable. I did NOT see that coming. Well written, great premises and to cap it off, superb humor. Overall, a marvelous, hilarious episode. The Bully was a good episode, as I like some of it's humor (You like kicking butts eh, Old man?). But is it really better than Bubble Buddy. The writing is on two different levels, and The Bully is in the bottom. The premises weren't as good, too. The Bully was a creative, genuinely decent episode. But it is NOT better than Bubble Buddy. Season 2 has made the comeback. and the game has just begun. [/background]

Finally, one who prefers Big Pink Loser over JOB.

However, on the note that JOB is eerie, is one reason I like it. In terms of the deleted scene, plus those dark jokes (the actual patty FUNERAL. IN HELL) and of course Squid's "sure" face made it quite eerie indeed. I loved it.

However, Patrick prevails in the end. Game over. :p

And the Bully I found a little more interesting than Bubble Buddy. However, Lief Erikson Day and some of the other hilarious shenanigans of the S2 episode made it an instant classic, even spawning a sequel involving a son over a decade later.

And oh my god, I just realized what's up next =O =O

I'm a Patrick fan myself, but I like Just One Bite a million times more than Big Pink Loser.
