Most Women Don't Play Video Games

I'd probably play more video games If I had the money to buy them.

I doubt this kind of thing. Especially after the gamergate fiasco the internet media have become rather untrustworthy.

Are you trying to say most men don't read books
Read "romance novels," which is for many people sadly all of what a book is these days.

I can sometimes agree on this but its not necessarily the case. I've seen plenty of female gamers throughout the years, though they usually only play certain games. Proof of this is gaming sites or even gaming conventions, i've been on both and about two-thirds of the audience is male.

The majority of men don't play video games. Think of the entire world's population of males. Odds are, more haven't played video games than have.

Don't let idiots like Anita Sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn and Brianna Wu soil your opinion of women who play video games. Female gamers are just like any other gamers, and most don't make a big show out of saying "OHHH I'M A GIRRRRRL AND I PLAY VIDEO GAAAAAAMES, I'M SPECIALLLLLL." Most female gamers just... play games.

Regardless what gender you are, if you play video games you're a geek.

yes and regardless what spacepirate are, you're a dog with a question mark above it :pattongue:

Okay literally why does the gender matter? ANd 20% of women is still a lot ofwomen when you realize that there's probably a multi-billion amount of women out there.
I fail to see your point.
This. If people want to stop being sexist, stop bringing up gender at every occasion.

I wouldn't believe everything I read online. A lot of the time, there is bias, inaccuracy, hostility, exaggeration, generalization, or a lack of specificity to the point where it's hard to ever believe in any of these kinds of articles anymore.

Also, I honestly don't see much of a big deal with this. Regardless of gender, if you enjoy playing video games, keep enjoying playing video games. If people judge based on gender or interest, ignore them. It may not be easy to ignore at first, but in time, you will be jaded from any insult thrown at you. Trust me, I've been there.

Fixed.

About the topic at hand: I doubt that stupid statistic is even that accurate. I'm sure plenty of women play video games. But they should play because they want to, not to fill up a quota. And guess what? If a girl doesn't want to play video games, that's fine as well!

Also, I'm sure there are plenty of men who read.

Point is, like others have said before, gender doesn't matter.

My gender has never had anything to do with the fact I love video games. Sure I've always been treated differently because being a "gamer girl" was extremely rare back in the day (before it became cool and everyone started being like, OMG I HEART NERDS!!!11!lol) but it never kept me away from my favorite hobby.

Unfortunately, the gaming community is breeding ground for sexism just because of the lack of femininity in it.

And while I agree with some games being blatantly sexist, its also a very tough subject to debate on. Gaming is definitely labelled as more of a 'guy thing' because a huge chunk of the games out there revolve around war and guns and cars and beautiful women... things that guys are ***supposed to*** like. Well, not all guys like My Little Pony, but look at this wave of people who are breaking gender stereotypes and liking something completely out of the norm for their gender. There are definitely a lot more girls into gaming then we know, we just don't meet them online in games like COD... because turning on that mic is basically asking for remarks about being a girl, or asking to meet a creep waiting to make their next move. Guys may argue this, but I've experienced it first hand, online and working at EB Games for almost 3 years.

I think as more and more girls start playing or even creating games, the problem will slowly get better. More guys are also opening their eyes and seeing that being sexist isn't cool. It should be interesting to see where this topic goes in the future.

It's an opinion piece first of all. Second of all, it's only one study that was done at one place. You'd need to do a lot more studies in a lot more different settings to get a better, more objective idea of what the statistics truly are and to reduce the chances of confirmation bias skewing the studies. How do we even know what they did in that study necessarily represents the whole population of the US or any other country for that matter. It even said this:

While this study clearly has its problems only surveying young, educated Americans, it is a sample of what modern gaming America looks like, and it shows that only 20% of women play video games at all, and only 0.6% of women are hardcore gamers. But why aren’t women interested?

Also, who really gives a crap about what gender you are if you wanna play games or not. It's all up to the individual regardless of what sexual orientation or gender they identify with.

Can you honestly be more.. correct? It's just so true everything I read of yours that I end up giving you likes and I rarely give likes these days... you my friend just get it. Everything in this post is what I really want to articulate really. Especially the part about how you experience it firsthand and that it's just SJW Tumblr garbag!!!
