Discuss your favorite Windows OS and why you like it...

My favorites are Windows XP and 7.

(You may select 2 if desire and if you like a Windows OS that's not on the poll, you can still tell why you like it)

I'm going with Windows 7 as well, mostly for the nostalgia but I remember really liking that one. Windows 10 felt like a downgrade to me, although I can't remember why. I got used to using it at some point though, and became indifferent. I'm also pretty indifferent to Windows 11.

I grew up with XP and 7. It makes me sad that they're no longer viable options now that most developers have stopped supporting Windows 8.1 and older.

Windows 10 is a solid OS, though there is way too much I miss from the old days. 11 would be okay if Microsoft stopped shoving AI in our faces and didn't artificially inflate the system requirements.

I loved Windows 95 and 98 growing up. Maybe I’ll give a slight edge to Windows 98 SE. Those were so nice and so simple. Of course, I also loved Windows XP and 7. Windows Me and 2000 were awesome too. Heck, 2000 was probably peak Windows. 2000 and 7 are the only versions that have never or almost never crashed on me unless there was a really serious issue like a boot sector problem.

I did not like Windows 10. It had all sorts of unnecessary bells and whistles and advertising and just reeked of Microsoft’s desperation. Windows 11 was a little better for me, but that might just be because I ran it on better hardware.

I barely used Vista and 8, but I’m sure I would’ve loved Vista on the right hardware for most of the same reasons I love 7.

Windows 3.1 was one of the operating systems of all time.

Windows 11 looks like it’s going to get worse with the AI nonsense, especially if you’re buying one of those new “AI PCs” that automatically take screenshots of what you’re doing. Just do yourself a favor and jump ship to Linux (if you can) before it gets worse. I personally love Linux Mint.

Have ya used Windows 8.1?

Windows 7 will always be my absolute favorite (my folks used to own a Windows 7 laptop and I'd go on there often to watch YouTube videos or play online games on it as a kid after school and on weekends). XP is cool too, and I remember how some of the computers in my elementary school's computer lab were running Windows XP at one point too.

Windows 10 is definitely a downgrade compared to 7 (the last good version of Windows), though it's still less of a downgrade than Windows 11 (which I absolutely refuse to use and am considering dual booting Linux come late this year instead of "upgrading" to 11 even though my laptop meets all of the requirements for 11).

If you do dual-boat Linux with Windows 11, could you let me know how to do it?
