Japanese Plankton

Mr. Dr. Professor Patrick

Developer of Awesomeness
The voice of Purankuton (プランクトン), the Japanese Plankton, has a female voice if you didn't know. The only exception is in the first SpongeBob movie, where he has a male voice. In SOoW, though, he has a female voice once more.

I may be wrong about this, since I learned this after asking my Japanese professor (if somebody knows any better, let me know!). In Japan, the Japanese tend to think that small things must have small tiny voices, so they probably gave Plankton a girl's voice to emphasize how small he is. In other words, it's a cultural change.

Either way, it's hilarious to watch Plankton with a little girl voice trying to steal the secret formula.

The Gregory Peck-ish voice Mr. Lawrence used for Planky-Poo is, in my honest opinion, a bit more fitting for Plankton than the Japanese dubbing. But still, the fact that in Japan, Plankton has a little girl voice is hilarious.

I've heard it in the 2000 Patties Under the Sea video too :P I think it's really funny, even if I think it's unfitting, but I'm used to the English one XD

You forgot a 0 :pickle:

The Italian and French voices of Plankton just are in between those: they're deep but not that much

Lol, i already know this from Tvtropes a while ago. Never sure whether this is real or not, because I was too lazy to check. Also if I remember correctly, Plankton's VA is an old lady.

And here before clicking on this thread I was thinking Plankton would have this powerful male Japanese voice. (I think I might have seen SBRox's video once before though.)

lol you'd think of all characters SB would have the girl's voice

As a Japanese person I can 100% confirm this. I remember being creeped out when I watched English Spongebob and he had a male voice o.o
