iTunes HD

It seems that Season 1 of SpongeBob has been released on iTunes in HD.

I'll probably be buying this soon just to see if there is a major differences from the DVDs. They're probably remastered. I honestly doubt they just upscaled them without any restoration. Then again, Nickelodeon is kind of cheap... anyway, hopefully some screenshots will be coming soon. :)

The more I watch Help Wanted on the iTunes HD, the worse it looks.
Reef Blower and Tea at the Treedome just looked like the increased the brightness a little and stretched the video out to be the right size.

Unfortunately it's not the crisp, true HD update we've always liked to see. It looks more like they just made their old videos larger and did a few little filters on them to clean them up slightly.

Wow, I love how it looks so much more clean and crisp than it does on television! :)

Actually the HD version was added just recently. I know because I bought S01E01 a few months ago and it was SD.

The HD versions aren't the best HD ever, but they are better than the current DVD releases. There is a little more clarity, and the colors and brightness seem to be better then the DVDs. I'll have to buy this when I have some money. :P

It's not HD. They just put the brightness up to earn a quick buck.

Tea At The Treedome looks terrible, Help Wanted looks just okay.

I honestly don't like how in the iTunes HD version of "Help Wanted" that the brush strokes in the background kinda got watered down. Now it looks too smooth looking to me. The rest of it looks fine though.

At a second glance, it really does look the same. I guess we'll have to keep waiting for a better release.
