If a show has been on ten years, there must be something good about it. SpongeBob SquarePants is ideally a children's show, but is appreciated by all ages. It says something that kids who watched it when they were eight are still watching at eighteen. Nickelodeon's newest SpongeBob DVD, SpongeBob Vs. The Big One, features seven episodes of the lovable animated sponge.

The episode promoted is "SpongeBob SquarePants Vs. The Big One." SpongeBob (Tom Kenny) and friends Patrick Star (Bill Fagerbakke), Squidward (Roger Bumpass), Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown), and Sandy (Carolyn Lawerence) get lost from Bikini Bottom after a wave hits. So, they were stranded on a desert island and the only person who can help is a odd man voiced by Johnny Depp.

Like most SpongeBob episodes, this episode was comic genius. I especially enjoyed Mr. Krabs' love affair with his cash register, Cashy. It's hilarious. Best part of the show, in my opinion.

That's not all. Here are the other episodes:
  • "A Life in a Day:" Larry the Lobster is this show-off lobster. He criticizes SpongeBob and Patrick so much that they want to be exactly like him. But, of course, SpongeBob and Patrick mess up and the day becomes very painful. This episode is OK, definitely not one of the best, but it's still good quality.
  • "Sun Bleached:" SpongeBob and Patrick are not allowed to go to a party at the Goo Lagoon, because they aren't tan enough. So, they decide to get tan, but problems occur when SpongeBob is in the tan machine too long. I liked this one better than "A Life in a Day." It was very creative and well-written.
  • "Giant Squidward:" Squidward, SpongeBob's easily annoyed neighbor and co-worker, has kelp garden spray. The problem is that everything it touches becomes huge.
  • "No Nose Knows:" My sister likes this one a lot. Patrick, a starfish, gets nose surgery. But when he gets his dream nose, he learns about smelly things.
  • "Patty Caper:" SpongeBob works at the Krusty Krab. There, they make Krabby Patties. The patties have a special top-secret formula. And while SpongeBob is watching it, the formula goes missing. Who stole it? Plankton? Sandy? Squidward?
  • "Plankton's Regular:" Is my favorite. Plankton who owns the rival food place has his first regular customer. Mr. Krabs, Spongebob's boss at the Krusty Krab, wants him eating Krabby Patties.

Also, there's a special music video "Ridin' the Hook," only available on the DVD. Another special feature is Plankton's Special Sinister Commentary.

The DVD is a must for big SpongeBob fans. SpongeBob is classic and will always be known as one of Nickelodeon's best.

If you've got most of the episodes in this collection, there's not a whole lot of new content here to make you want to snag this one too (unless you're a completist or collector of Spongebob stuff). That said, if you don't have the complete season sets and want to get a little Squarepants action of your own, this is a pretty decent sampling and comes recommended.

Glad to see positive reviews about it, I'm still waiting for my DVD, on the meantime I saw Johnny's bits on YouTube! He did great!

I wonder when Nick is planning to air this
