I did a speech on this a few years ago for class and it was not my favorite, but I learned a lot on how each color represents something different for everyone. It's cool but bizarre at the same time.

In broad strokes...

Black, white, red, blue, green - yes, they match my general thinking for each (though admittedly some of that has probably been formed by previous color study and natural associations picked-up over time).

Purple, yellow, orange - while I'm aware of the connotations of these colors, I don't automatically register them each time I see them. I find them more fluid and maleable than the others (i.e., I wouldn't find them amiss in other contexts).
