@ilove1994 Something that is sold illegally that is using owned properties for their own purposes... (Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if you think that I don't know what a bootleg is)

Also close but not quite correct its actually when something is coped sold or distributed illegally without permission from the copyright or trademark owner. the purpose of bootlegs is copyright/trademark infringement and to trick people into thinking their fake products are the real deal that's how the counterfeiting industry works.

That's what i was saying too although most bootlegs are from overseas such as the SpongeBob inflatable castles those are from China. It seems like a lot of people online don't do their research into what is and what isn't a fake product and think just because something looks odd or strange or has a similar character on it that it is bootlegged you see this happen a lot on places like reddit. I can't blame those people for thinking that though since they are probably not educated on piracy and the counterfeiting industry so it is whatever.
